Hey Brother,I had watched this video earlier while I was moving Wind Blades from Vancouver to Montana, and this week when the job ended and while headed back to Texas I routed myself to the Dugway Geode site. After the long drive (62 miles) down the dirt road to get there, I spent the next five hours digging a hole on the East side of the pit you were in at the beginning of the video. The deeper I went the better, as I ended up with maybe 10 whole that are over 6-9 inches in diameter as well as too many to count that are smaller but whole. BIG THANKS for all of your videos that showcase what we can find in so many locations!!
Great video! I hope you get a chance to go back and dig again, because believe me when I say: you've only just scratched the surface of Dugway! My wife and I live in Utah, and have been there twice. From our experience, the truly good stuff is in that pink clay layer. You can get some gorgeous whole geodes with very sparkly quartz inside...but you have to dig. You won't usually find those high quality specimens on the surface. It can be a lot of work, but totally worth it!

Thank you!
Hi Jared, nice location with some great looking material. A bit far for me to go to get some of those thundereggs but I would love to. We do have a “Thunderegg Park” about 40km away (25miles), though I have not been there yet, it’s on the list. Another good video mate, with lots of good content and information. “Keep Safe & Keep Rockin”
The adventure is half the fun! but yeah it is pretty far for everyone I think.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding it’s a long way from here in Queensland, Australia !! 🤣🤣
Just checked about 7,622miles one way or for us it’s 12,268 kilometres 👍
I see you came down to my neck of the woods! Next time you make it down this way, I would be more than happy to show you some other locations!
We did make it down there and spent some time driving around hitting locations, unfortunately it was a little tight and hard to plan with other, we do plan on coming back next year for a more relaxed trip.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding Just let me know when you plan to come!
Very Cool Spot.
Rad! I’ve wanted to go down there for quite a while so it’s cool to see your video and learn more about the area. Did you get some Vernon Wonderstone while you were down there? That’s another place I’ve been interested in for a long time.
Oh you will have to watch and find out! I think you will like this coming weeks video.
Interesting rock finds, thanks for sharing! 😊
I'm glad you liked it.
Cool place ! Thanks for sharing!!
I'm glad you liked it.
I always wondered where Dugway was. Here to find out, I drive by it when I traverse I-80 all the time. It's a little off the road for my 40ft motorhome though. Thanks for the videos!
It might be tight to drive a motorhome in there.
Live in America. Love your channel
I live in Utah and haven't had a chance to make it up there yet. But I have a place on the Southern end of the west desert I find thundereggs that can be just as wild!
Oh that sounds lovely, in the coming videos we will be showing a lot more of Utah, some of which should be a lot closer to you.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding if your still in the area let me know I can take you to some great places!
@@zioncardman18 Unfortunately we are not
The middle of nowhere is my favorite place to be. Always the best place to find the best rocks. I have traveled so many gravel roads and back country roads in the last year that my mechanic gave me heck for not checking my air filter. It was so packed with dust and dead bugs it had to be replaced. Oops!😁 My poor van. I didn't think it was that bad.
Hahaha yeah that's something you gotta stay on top of when you do this kind of driving.
In for a cool rock. You guys have been helping us a lot!
Is that volcanic glass obsidian, or something else? Cool to see the Dugway site - I have a couple of those a viewer gave me that I plan to cut soon.
I'm still very unsure what it is.
My friend had a perlite mine and that looks like the raw perlite before it is ground up and cooked to make the perlite that you find in potting soil.
Michigan Rocks put some small ones in the tumbler. I’m going to try it with some littles I picked up in the fields at Henderson’s Ranch. I think you said you didn’t tumble?
You make me so jealous. There aren't many collecting sites near me in NW Illinois.
That's a little rough, we do drive quite far for these videos and locations since we don't have a whole ton right where we live.
Ok man, here's what i'm thinking: We get you a motorcycle helmet with a cam on it and microphone inside so when its super windy you can pretend that your a spaceman on a different planet and you dont have to worry about the wind lol!
Great vid though buddy.
Hi there 😀 I hunt for Geodes in the Warsaw formation, it's in Iowa and Illinois . Between Burlington and Keokuk IOWA AND Nauvoo, Illinois and Hamilton/Warsaw IL. My sister and I find solid stuff and even more with awesome crystals quartz and chalcedony, and fossils!
I forgot to tell you how awesome you are!!!
Ha, why are you trying to make me look even more weird?
@@CurrentlyRockhounding Weird is different and different stands out...Ive got a method to my madness ^^
@@CurrentlyRockhounding it looks like you replied to my comment, not quite sure... But if it was me ???
