You're doing a great job Jason. You've come a long way from the first videos! I enjoy all of your posts but you are definitely a car guy. I'm up in Roiet raising my boys but will one day get down there to see you in person. I'll be looking to buy a condo and will start with and hopefully end with you and Manuel.Keep the Penthouse videos coming.
Yep mate, your'e spot on. Jason came all the way from Australia. The land of the blunt elbo.
Thank you very much for taking the time to say that, means a lot. Yeah definitely a car guy and hope to meet you when you come to Pattaya. Manuel will be ready and waiting 👍
Thanks mate 👍
Good video, I have been interested in this information for a while.
Thanks, glad you liked it 👍
Thanks for the update of used cars prices in Thailand. good job, Jason.
No problem and thank you too for your support 👍
The 2009 BMW for 1.3m Baht was crazily high! The KM's on it were average for the age but after 100,000KM all BMW's start to have issues! Look on the Bangkok car sites for better pricing! A 2018 BMW will only be about B1.7m.
A great interesting video of dealer prices. Love the European cars but for practicality it has to be a 4x4 pick up especially in rural Thailand. Ive hired many on my visits at different times of the year. A must for there typical country roads. Just subscribed 👍
Exactly mate, buy Toyota or Isuzu here, definitely not a euro.
Thanks mate, appreciate the sub and support 👍👍👍
Great job!
Helps me budget for when I move full time.
Looking at those, probably better to head to the Isuzu dealer straight.
Thanks for the walk and talk.
Thanks mate, can’t go wrong with the Isuzu or Hilux, number one and two for a reason 👍
Found out in more rural areas of Thailand, 2nd hand cars from the dealer's, are virtually the same price as new ones. Mainly because the new car dealerships won't give finance to a lot of people, so they turn to the 2nd hand dealers who will but at a higher interest rate, knowing they can just take the car back and repeat the process if they don't keep up with payments
Thanks Martin for sharing this information, very interesting 👍
Yeah not far off. The dealers buy the cars from Bangkok. Second cars hold the money and plus there putting money on top what they payed for it. I would say the finance repayments might be nearly the same on a secondhand and new car because the interest is alot higher on the secondhand car.

@Mustangelleanor1968 yeah mate, absolutely crazy, 328% import tax and you cannot import a car/s here 😩
Thank you Jason. I really interesting subject for any of us who are thinking of retiring in Thailand. Very informative

Hi Jason. Liking your channel doing a great job of showing how life can and could be in Thailand, depending on what funds we have lol If I was there now I'd buy that old school Corolla.
Thank you William, appreciate it and glad it helps people. Yeah I love the old Corolla, not practical but be fun weekend cruise 👍

Cheers JJ really enjoyed that one mate. Will not be buying a euro car when I retire out there mate so thanks for the heads up.👍
Thanks mate, definitely not a good idea unless you have unlimited funds 👍
Hi Jason, I love all the car videos you post. They really know how to detail those babies to make them look so nice. As much as I love cars, I would only buy a Ute there. Ground clearance is what I want. You never know when you’ll need to drive through an unexpected river. 😅

Yes, I am Subscribed, not sure I would want to buy a 2nd Hand car in Thailand, I have been told by some expat friends, that's it's not a good idea, the 1-month warranty on the engine only, that tells me, something will go wrong with it on day 32. Great videos as always. Well Done.
Thanks Tony, I bought my old Hilux (Maxine) from an expat car guy but I would only buy Toyota, Isuzu, Honda, Suzuki and maybe Mitsubishi/Nissan but definitely not euro

th-cam.com/video/bRa9ii8J5nQ/w-d-xo.html
Great video - I thought the C200 Benz was more reasonably priced. As someone else said secondhand car prices are inflated, and it's not about the import tax, more about people able to get finance. I have a scooter and a Thai license and do not intend to buy a car.
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment and sharing your thoughts on used car prices here 👍
Hey Jason, Manu should buy the owners Toyota 😀 he will look cool showing the properties 🤔🤣 Great tour of some nice cars 🚗 👍👍
Hahaha that would be funny, great idea and would make for a good laugh with the Fatman & Robin show turning up to look at properties 😂😂😂
Hi Jason, subscribed. I hired a car for a month to see if I really needed a car. I was warned to never buy 2nd hand here. In the end, for around local Pratumnak, pattaya, jomtien area Bolt is my best choice. If I moved to Bangsaray or Hua Hin, then I think I would revisit the do I need a car line of thought.
Hi Christine, yes Bolt is great and buying a used car here is not easy unless you know what to look for, fortunately for me having worked in the car industry all my life and being a mechanic I know what to look for.
Thank you for your comment and support 🙏
@goodvibespattaya2423 good to know. If I ever am in the a need a car frame of mind then I know whose brain to pick! 🙏

wow that carolla was such a beautiful car. otherwise the prices were pretty much about normal for used car prices they are high in the states to.
Sure is mate, nice old school car 👍. Prices are also similar to Australia
Hmmm 2nd hand cars prices are high there. I don't think a standard height car is the best option there. Better off with a ute or alike that have a fair bit of road clearance & up out of the water when flooding occurs. Good vlog Jas. Thanks 👍
Thanks mate, yeah higher ground clearance is definitely a good option here.
Cheers mate 👍
I think not compared with the US. Wouldn't buy that bmw- junk.
Would buy a new MG5 before any of that stuff. 700k baht.
I'm loving that old Corolla. I noticed it has an Amaron battery. I use to sell those. They are a fantastic battery.
Definitely a nice car, very old school classic. Never heard of that brand of battery, American?
@@goodvibespattaya2423 Made in India actually. Very good quality. It was the best battery I sold. It is a maintainable battery which is key to its long life. As long as you maintain it of course.
Thanks! Thank you , I would love to see maid in Thailand cars and prices !
Thank you 🙏 I also make a video earlier this year on the top 5 selling pickups but might do one on cars & SUV’s soon 👍
The Captiva was a one year auto that changed to a Trax which is the lowest Chevy SUV. Now my daughter had a 2015 which she had for about 5 years while at college, zero mechanical issues…granted she was terrified in bad weather….
Thank you for sharing this and happy to hear zero issues, apologies if I offended you or any other Captiva owner, just my personal view.
@@goodvibespattaya2423 I’ve found that there are real differences based on where the vehicle is made.
I'm Half French/Thai I hope I can visit soon my blood country thanks for the vid can you make more videos about second hand cars? I like youngtimers like bmw e36 or old toyotas/hondas
Thanks, I will 👍
Personally, in Thailand I prefer a car that reach a little above in height, than the traditional cars do. There are so many pickups and SUVs in Thailand, so if you are stuck in a queue or so, which very often happens in Thailand, you will have limited view from the lower cars. Those 30-40 cm extra do wonders, I think. You can easily see what`s happening around you. So that has been my choice. Thanks, Jason, interesting video. It may come as a surprise, but many ladies like cars too 😊😊
Thanks Sarlina, yes I agree with you on that, sitting up higher gives good visibility to see what’s a ahead of you, that’s all I drove but in Aus, maybe one day I can upgrade Maxine. Good to know you like cars too ✅✅✅
@@goodvibespattaya2423 Keep building your channel, I'm sure it will get big enough so you can afford a solid upgrade. And I got to say, those Mercedes and BMWs look great for being up to 20 years old. 200k km on the Benz, is only around 10k a year. Love the Volvo too, it's a majestic car!
@sarlina1 yeah and better in rain on roads as higher get less back splash from vehicles in front 👌
But more costly to run repair and heavier drive , I've had allsorts I rate as light and last Toyota or Nissan all rounders and plenty options, only German cars liked were old Golf's and CLK didn't like both BMW S had 325i and 330ci convertible worse cars and gearboxes , all down to personal comfort and budget , some cars look good and are a Mortgage and not that fun to drive if drive lots , whereas ones you under rate can be great and save loads , fun try all and see over years best way
@@007heaven Yes, buying one of those older Benz or BMWs might give you some headache and costly repairs, but they are still dream cars for many. Would be fun to own one, if you have the budget for an extra car. We had our Toyota Fortuner for many years, but traded it in for a new Ford Ranger in 2019. I like that extra cm above the ground. In Pattaya I mostly drive my Honda PCX though. Way more practical. My husband unfortunately passed in 2020. Covid turned my life upside down. I'm not driving as much as I used to anymore.

OMG! THAT COROLLA LOOKS AMAZING!!! 😮
Yeah it’s a cracker 👍
On My second MG HS the price compared to other similar vehicles is its selling point, some minor improvement's is all it needs

The prices are not that bad its the bad inflation rates that people forget about. Also cars have higher prices in the first 7 years before yearly safety inspections start.

Greetings from New Zealand..... Just a passing comment and it might be inaccurate. These prices, once converted to NZD, are about the same as in NZ!
G’day, yep you would be right and similar to Aus too
I like cars that start every time, don't break down often or require a lot of maintenance, or cost a lot to repair. That's why I only buy Japanese brands since 1981, the last year I bought an American made piece of crap.
Spot on mate, can’t go wrong with Japanese brands 👍
I just sold a c class c 180 kompressor amg in very good condition 120km in the Uk 6 months ago for 100,000b.the one you’ve shown is about 4 times the price.
Yes I know euro cars are cheap in the UK but here all imports attract a 300% import tax hence used ones are not cheap 😩
I have a maxi scooter and use BOLT, that's perfect for me.
That is the perfect solution here, thanks for sharing 👍
I'd like to hear about practical, cheap to repair, and cheap to maintain vehicles for Thailand. I'm guessing Toyota would be the best generally?

need a ute/pickup if u living in thailand imo. Seen pattaya streets flood many times. Likely why car lots are all on higher ground. Saying that though having a lotus elise (factory in malyasia i think) would be fantastic with roof off driving around.

I bought a 2013 2.0 S, ford focus from a specialized dealer in BKK, same thing there ,husband & wife selling from their beutifull home on a gated comunity, only had 6/8 cars for sale but when he took the cover off the car i was smitten , it was in black and looked like the black cars you showed there, inside black learher to in gorgeous condition , even under the bonnet ,.test drive and it was sold, 300000 bht,(knocked him down by 20000bht) 80000kms,new brakes all round and underneath was as clean as a whistle to,.it was taxed for 9 months and he insured it for me,.i know new black cars are cheaper than white cars, i was told this by a rep for avis car hire,.the thais have a nack at prepping cars, and these at this car tent were immaculate fair play,.thanks.

Honestly the Mazda 2 would do as a runabout, even if it was auto as Mazda don't use CVT. Chances of getting parts for a Mazda would have to better than any of European cars. Had enough problems in Australia getting Skoda parts before covid. Now I just have a manual Mitsubishi Outlander. Thanks for the video. Love the variety of topics you cover. Thanks
Yeah Mazda 2 is good and I personally can’t stand CVT’s and would rather a manual like you chose with the outlander ✅✅✅

Hey G'day mate,
When you mentioned one car was selling on consignment it made me think what would the rate be here?
I think back in Aus it was generally 20% but could be negotiated for higher value vehicles.
My car is an old "battle box" as we\d call them when I was growing up so not enquiring about selling her.....just curious.
Nice video, well presented and well done.
Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words. Sorry I don’t know how much dealers charge for consignment here, next time I go to one I will ask 👍

ah yes the infamous Craptiva. Have a 2017 model diesel myself. It certainly had some quality control issues but I managed to fix most of it under warranty. The DPF and EGR will likely cause problems if not deleted. In Thailand I suspect they don't have these environmental engine killers and might be a value purchase but you'd want to really go over it.
Sorry if I offended you or any other owners but glad to hear you sorted out the quality issues while under warranty 👍
not at all mate definitely one to avoid unless you know what to expect. 1 good thing about it though is no CVT! @@goodvibespattaya2423
Always one pickup for me in Thailand: hilux
Yep, can’t go wrong with a Hilux 👍
imo 2 for one fron uk
Question : these are list prices, what percentage for actual sale price if you drive a hard deal.
Also, I worked on a construction job out in the back blocks of South Australia, sheep country and mostly dirt roads. I thought the local farmers were doing quite well because they all drove Mercedes but the publican told me they were the only cars that did not vibrate themselves to bits, so given the state of Thailand roads I would be inclined to find a good second hand Mercedes.
I would think labour costs are quite low and if you get one from the early to mid 2000s plenty of cheap parts available, so 200k km on the clock could be relatively nothing for a Mercedes - I've got a ML55 with 320k km on the clock and no problems except it's just done a water pump and a replacement was $80 delivered.
Mate, it’s bloody hard to get dealers to discount the price, maybe 10-20,000 baht on a 300k car and only maybe, they just don’t operate like we are used too and they are happy to not sell and keep it in stock forever, it is just the way it is. BTW the roads are actually very good here, it’s just little back side streets that can be a bit rough 👍

Hi Jason You do a great job with your videos.
E drive on the VOLVON stands for economy driving as this model has extremely low fuel consumption, you think you will go 1000 km + on one tank
Then, out of pure curiosity, I wonder if you possibly have some Finnish blood in you? Seen from my Swedish eyes, you have a very characteristic Finnish appearance and also considering your interest in motoring Something that Finns seem to have in their blood, you can see it not least in their advances in motor sports
Thank you mate, really appreciate you saying that. I went back to this yard yesterday and the Volvo is still there some 4 months later after that video was made, they told me it’s a 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine, I wouldn’t mind taking it for a test drive, maybe I will ask them.
