You're good at describing this. Most of all it's about creating music and feelgood. His technique is out of this world. Learn from it, but as you emphasize, find your own path. I never copy a lick note by note, just trying to find a similar feel with my own vocabulary.
Thanks Stellan! I appreciate that you appreciate that. Its often just said 'find our own path' but my own experience it takes a lot of trying to copy other paths to really understand that we can only follow our path, and that's a great thing! Sounds like a Zen thing.. 'you are your path'.
Very very cool and instructional video :) would love to see a full video of you playing on this backing track ! I reeeaaally enjoyed the few bits when you were playing 👌 Hat's off !
Exactly! Nice one :) I think that could be said for any artist, especially those who have really carved their own path. And the beauty of it is that we can learn from these artists and take on board certain expressions and make them our own. nobody is born with a name. Its given to us, it is created by our environment, the people around us, the society, in the same way with music, an artist is an expression of their mental and physical environment and attention.
@@SamBellGuitar Not so true...perhaps. I've seen Guthrie jamming to tracks and sounding just like some great guitarists. I genuinely think he is a guitar savant....and possible the most talented ever.
@spanish peaches I absolutely love Guthries playing as well, he's a very rare player granted, but nobody is sacred. There's no 'one' person, there are many unknown as well doing astouding things. Possibly putting people on pedestals is dangerous, especially for one's own progression. Far healthier to appreciate, respect and love and know that humans can do some amazing things. It's convenient and safe for us to say it's impossible when actually we have one chance at life, one time to be fully ourselves and to fully appreciate art. That's hard work to do, but it's the work we must do if we really love playing music.
Someone who looks like Guthrie Govan talking about how to play like him.
my first thought as soon as the video started

I love this tutoria. Thank you so much!
It's like Guthrie Govan teaching his deeper secrets. :0
I absolutely love this
Even your expressions are Guthrie like! 😁👌🎸🎶🤘
I have been told many, many times by people who know him well!
Interesting lesson
Thank you for that, besides that how did you achieve that tone?
Thank you! Guitar > Victory (Jack) > Torpedo Cab Sim (V30 2x12) > Cubase with a side chain of Delay/Reverb to taste.
What model guitar is that Ibanez?

Thank you! Glad it was useful. Hmm, that's a good shout! I'll keep it in mind. I've got a bunch of other ones ready to go over the next few months.
I think the tip you missed was having some awesome rockstar hair
I thought this was Guthrie at first 😂
This really great but the audio is ever so slightly out of sync with the video, a little distracting for me :/
Apologies Jonny, still getting my mind around Adobe Prem!
@@SamBellGuitar It's not at all, it's completely fine for me. Great vid mate.
The point about Govan is that nobody can play like him. His style is uncopyable.
