18:37 many of the older boards from back in the $300 an ounce gold days had more gold than what you can see in fact many of them had an entire layer of gold from edge-to-edge underneath the green masking and you can spot them by just scratching off some of the green mask in the areas you can't see through when you hold it up to the light
Unreal you just made my life so much easier once I finish watching your video. I ran out into the shed and half filled a 10 litre bucket in 45 minutes. Instead off painstaking pulling each pin out one at a time. Love ya channel
Yeehaw that was exciting about 26 minutes and seven seconds. I’m still working on building my furnace I have my product beakers, waiting on acid deliveries etc. so haven’t actually gotten to this point yet but I’ve been studying and heat excelarates everything. I know you know don’t, and don’t feel bad because you’re helping us learn as well.
Thats great.. its exciting when you're starting out. So your waiting for acids, !! Have you got something sorted to use for stock pot. ?. You'll need one to put used chemicals in
@@prospectorpete Haven’t thought about it much yet but definitely a good point I do have some really large containers, 450 gallon , but I doubt I’ll do that much chemical use
@@zacharywinters9413 well even if u only do one beaker full. U gotta dispose of the acid safely . So yll need a stock pot and then another barrel as a waste barrel to reclaim the copper used in the stock pot. It's not just about the safe disposal of the chemicals, it's also to get any precious metals u missed in solution
I DON'T/CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DON'T HAVE MANY,MANY MORE VIEWS !!! I'VE BEEN WATCHING AND RESEARCHING FOR DO MANY YEARS. THE BEST DAY EVER AS FAR AS MY REFINING RESEARCH GOES IS WHEN I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. EVEN SREETIPS,(WHICH IS PETERS BACKWARDS , BTW), WELL HE TURNED INTO A EBAY GOLD REFINER! THANK YOU.
wow thankyou so much for your kind words , it means alot to me that you enjoy my videos . i also dont know why i dont have more views . im battling to get subscribers , if you could plz spread the word id greatly appreciate it
What do you mean by the copper does all the work 5:53 Could you explain the process or refer me to information that could explain the process because the what never can quite do it for me I also need the why and the how
ok i cant explain the science behind it , all i can say is the copper 2 chloride which is formed as a result is very corrosive and is what actually eats the steel and other things leaving prescious metals untouched. the peroxide only helps to kickstart the reaction and helps the hcl dissolve the copper . and from there it gets stronger and more corrosive the more that copper is dissolved . thats why the AP gets better the more you use it
People don’t realize that doing this the fast way winds up putting some of the gold in solution. To recover that you can put steel in the solution but I use aluminum. It’s fast but it does get hot and may boil over.
Thanks for this video!!! I have a couple questions... How much metal will AP hold in solution? How do you know when your AP solution is fully saturated? I have a little over 800 grams of dirty pins (Mixed Metal Pins) in a bucket of AP and I don't think the AP is dissolving anymore metal. I am trying to dissolve away all the base metal so all I am left with is the gold plating. Thanks again
well i put mine in used nitric , i keep nitric from nitric baths to reuse . you could use new nitric with water if you have enough. ive tried using a sulfuric stripping cell to remove silver from plated items and it takes forever
Thank you for your advice I have to try to find nitric acid do you mean reverse plating like you demonstrated with the gold plating objects and dilute nitric or silver?
Nitric acid to convert it to Silver nitrate. Then convert to silver chloride by adding table salt. Then oxidize with sodium hydroxide to get silver oxide. And then sugar for a carbon a source to convert it back to near pure silver. 98+%. Of course do the research on the process. Don't just start dumping things in a pot. This is a very simple method with excellence results. Do it outside or in a well ventilated fume hood. Not in your garage. At least not the stripping part. Nitric does put off a toxic gas when it is working. Once it is used up it is a little more friendly. So please make safe practices and keep good PPE rules for yourself. It will allow you to keep having fun doing this kinda stuff while keeping you safe.
@@prospectorpete What do you you with the iron solution that has, now replaced & dropped the copper? Is that something that can go into the ground or is there another step to make it safe? Like neutralize it with baking soda or something else?
@Michael Gulotta yeah you need to put lime or sodium hydroxide till the pH is nuetral. Then the sediment can be dried on paper and thrown into the trash. And the liquid is then safe to pour into the garden
@@michaelgulotta5646 youre welcome . when using sodium hydroxide, all remaining metals will drop out of solution leaving a totally baron solution. the metals which drop out would be things like iron and maybe copper . theyre dried on paper and thrown in the trash

when it stops working then its saturated, just add more hcl
That bucket must be a lot deeper than it looks, it's like the clown car of buckets 11:55
lmao
If you soak the boards in a lye based drain cleaner the green mask comes off easily with a old toothbrush
yep , i have a video showing that process
I have solution that is 9 years old and still use it after all of the other metals are cemented out with some aluminum
yeah I've done it from time to time.
How do we make poor man's nitric acid for silver
there is no poor mans for silver. Just the normal poor mans which would probably dissolve silver but I have never tried it.
Thumbs UP
thanks for watching
What would you recommend to strip sterling silver off large platters and serving container's ?

Love ya shows but I am going to eat your bird lol
Lmao plz do. I hate gallahs
You ain't shittin' my dog went ballistic.
To much hydrogen peroxide will dissolve the gold
thats right
Hydrochloric acid plus Chlorine will also dissolve gold too
I wonder if these useless face masks that some people are still wearing would work well for filtering metals! Just a thought. Lol.
maybe lol , i guess any protection is better than nothing.
i wear a respirator , it works really well
