You can absolutely get 3 and even 4 nines fine silver using this method. I regularly got my silver XRF'd at 4 nines using this method. The issue here was the washing. There was clearly contamination from the green liquid (mostly copper) and sugar. Although the sugar won't contaminate the metal it's where that black substance came from that was on the coins and bar after the melt. The silver sponge should have been much lighter in color after a proper wash and conversion. Almost white looking. It should also not be slimy but more like ground feta cheese. A good job overall. Enjoyed watching.
Ooooops, should have waited to comment. You must clean the silver metal continuously with hot water until the pH reaches 7. May take as many as 10-15 washes! Also, the Silver chloride was not clean enough before you started the conversion. Use BOILING WATER!! and keep going until the supernatant is absolutely colourless. Keep up the vids!
One small tip for next time. Stir with a stick blender. Does a brilliant job and is quick and easy. Also, add the sugar a little more slowly, I have seen some massive boilovers!! Happy new year to you and yours
Nice ...Hey was the initial waste that you used an aqua regua ? Or nitric or similar to ? Im guessing i get confused with hcl and sulfuric added as to reduce the lead. Hcl aka muriatic acid was used to drop the chloride then washed then added lye with a bit of distilled water , stir continuously for a bit until disolved then siphon. Clean with distilled aka wash . Then filter and smelt. But yes I was just wondering what the chemicals were from the start. Thanks !!
This silver is less than sterling to get 999 fine you need a silver cell make it into cornflakes and put it through your silver cell and you get 999silver

As well he did not clean the silver chloride well enough. If done properly this process produces brilliantly pure silver which I have proved several times just for fun.

Is there any particular reason you didn't use salt to recover, maybe you could bring that up in the next vid.
