    Tatum had one of his best games as a player and most people probably won't even realize it. The amount of shots/open looks he creates for his teammates all night was insane. The unselfish play from him is a key reason why the team shined on offense. All night long he gave the ball up for better shots/drives and never once demanded the ball simply so he could boost his numbers up with everyone else's. That's the definition of maturity, leadership, and above all winning basketball.

      Two things can be true at once: Tatum made the right call to be unselfish and helped his team in other ways. _And_ Tatum continues to lack a consistent takeover ability (key word: “consistent”, for anyone pointing out a couple 50-point games he’s had here and there), specifically a good ability to drive to the rim and make tough, contested shots. You’re trying to use the first fact to disprove the second, and it just doesn’t work like that. 2008-2010 Rondo consistently made the right calls and affected the game in ways other than scoring, but that doesn’t make him the number one option on those Celtics squads, because he simply wasn’t.
      Players like Ant and even the top scorer in this game tonight, Doncic, fight through tough defenses when driving to the rim and make the basket much more consistently than Tatum does. Tatum makes those winning passes out to the perimeter partly because he has a comparatively weak rim game. You’re lying to yourself if you say it’s always because he thinks he found the open man.

    Give Mazzulla credit for putting KP in 2nd unit matching Lively. This created 5 switchable players who can shoot 3s whenever Doncic & Kyrie on floor while when staggered with Lively, KP has height advantage & pulls him out of the paint. That's why Mavs' D is less effective against this Celtics team.

  • @TGWNU
    @TGWNU 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    THESE ARE NOT THE SAME CELTICS. Obviously the new additions of KP and Jrue help, but during these playoffs they’ve demonstrated the ability to finally finish games.
    Example:
    Game 1 of the ECF
    History shows that they would lose a game just like that in past years. What did they do?
    And in the second half of this game, after dominantly being up 20+, Dallas cuts it to 8. Again, the Celtics of old would have lost that game. But they call a time out, go on a run of their own to officially put it away. This group is different. Celtics in 6!

    Kristaps Porzingas was the difference maker. He only played 20 minutes and dominated the glass on defense. He is like Ivan Drago in Rocky 4. All the Mavs could do was look up at the Tower of Strength. And the Celtics did not have a good night of shooting and still easily won by 18pts. I think we can get the Duck Boats Ready. They have to hit their 3’s first of all but more importantly Kyrie needs to win his match up and the Mavs have to be much more active on defense. Kyrie missed so many open shots so did PJ and Luka was talking bad shots give Boston credit, the difference was there ability to land 3s and porzignis 1st Q jumpstart, Dallas made every quarter competitive with the exception of the 1st which was ultimately the difference

    Man Celtics with healthy KP too much fire power Dallas needs big adjustments for game 2. KP got the freshest leg out of all the starting 5 and it’s showing. Man Boston getting so lucky this year they faced injured teams so didn’t need KP and he got so much rest got healthy just on time for the Celtics.

      If the Mavs want to have a chance of winning or at least giving Boston a tough fight, they should defend the three ball religiously and just gamble with their 2s. It's a pick your poison scenario. 10 possessions made with, say 5 threes and 5 twos will always have more points than 2 threes and 8 twos.

      That’s just the way it is man, good true team basketball is boring to the majority of fans, that’s what the Spurs dealt w when they were winning all those titles w Duncan.. Brunson might be more exciting to watch but they won’t win a title w him having to score 40 pts every night in the playoffs, this Boston team is about to go on a 3-5 year run so I’m afraid we’re all gonna have to get used to it, they are just built to win and win for at the very least 3-4 more seasons

    if Boston can cut their TO down from 14-6, hit their FT's than they'll be scary. They get too soft sometimes when they're up 22pts and just jack up 3s, they have to just keep driving on them force them to foul, keep racking up easy buckets

  • @Boomdizzle99

    biggest difference in the series is that both porzingis and horford can go out to the 3 point line. In Dallas last series, Minnesota playing Gobert was what killed them. Dallas could just keep their bigs by the rim and clog up the lane. That wont work against boston. Dallas needs to play gafford less, he gives them absolutely nothing offensively....After seeing game 1 im convinced Dallas doesnt stand a chance unless porzingis or tatum gets injured...thats the only way.

    Yall casuals in these comments are laughable. Mavs are masters of adaptability after they lose game 1 which they usually do. Kyrie was shooting bricks, Lively is still rookie and the pressure of 1st game in the finals got to him and also Jones Jr did some weakass rim attacks and pj open 3s didnt go in. And they lost rebounding game which they usually don't, they didnt get many 2nd chances and gave too many offensive rebounds. All in all it wasn't good game for any mavs players. They will show up for game 2 and go to Dallas with 1-1.
