I've been trying to finish 5D's for literally years, and I like 5D's. I saw some stuff and I think it might have been the Light of Destruction that was foreshadowed in 5D's? I will finish 5D's and GX, so please don't say any spoilers.

Honestly I agree, had some of the best story arcs, the turbo duels were actually fun to watch and weren't mind numbingly boring, the signers and dark signers thing didn't feel forced and was well-paced and gave way to good story explanation too and Yusei and Jack were always awesome to watch, kudos to their voice actors for really making their characters engaging

Say what you will about 5ds. But I did like the more grown up themes and problems faced by the characters really made it feel like the show was aging with me. Now there is 7s or whatever with this kid who couldn't win so he made up his own rules in order to win lol
With a lot of shows I grew up with, they treated those watching like adults, yes some looked "child like" but they treated the audience with maturity. I grew up with Thomas the tank engine seasons 1 to 5, Tugs, x men(the one from 90s) the 90s spiderman, yugioh 5ds and loads others, if i listed we would be here all day. The point is now most shows are just getting dumbed down, I hate that, if my cousins who are kids dont like some of newer stuff, why did you change it. If it ain't broke dont fix it.
Ah that Saturday morning 4 kids lineup on CW at the time was awesome in 5d's was definitely one of the best in that lineup I didn't watch many episodes but the theme for it definitely rocks.
I was never big into Yu Gi Oh, but I watched some of 5Ds back when it was airing and found the story pretty interesting. I always loved the intro and am glad you covered it.
5ds is my favorite Yugioh series and is honestly one of my comfort series, I always rewatch it when I'm feeling sad. A big part of that is the theme song, it is absolutely the best and has a nostalgic feel to it

There were times when watching Yugioh 5D's for the first time that I forgot I was watching a Yugioh anime. That's how good the show was, especially the Dark Signers arc. That one is easily one of my favorite anime arcs period of all time.
