Majority of people commenting don't know how the prison system works, most long term prisoners who go to a category D open prison are on the verge of being released, yes he absconded but that's similar to not coming back from home leave, the good thing for Danny gee , is he never committed a crime while he was out, he'll probably end up in a closed prison and lose 60 days, but he'll still be out within 6 to 12 months, remember he's done his time.
Will he not have to do the length of time he absconded for, but yeah as long as he paid for all the pies he ate then he should be ok and out for real next summer.
He wanted to be caught as he was missing his daily routine of praying 5 times a day in prison. Also he did not cause anyone harm in the 4 weeks he was in the run and the authorities should let him out now.
