    I have a version one a310 that has been my go to waterproof jacket for 5 years. I live in the rainy hills of yorkshire. I have a new one in its wrapper, for when this one stops being waterproof. Not needed it yet.🎉

    I've been waiting for you to review this for a while now. What you are wearing in this video is literally the exact layering setup I've been putting together (with the addition of the Helikon Trooper/Blizzard softshell as a wind layer). Thanks so much, this is perfect!

    I've had one of these for about 3 years. Best thing about the A310 is that it's very packable. Even in summer I keep mine rolled up in the bottom of my EDC pack, just in case. Great stowable waterproof option.

    I love to wear it underneath a smock, this makes it wind and waterproof if you need it.

      You could wear one underneath. I'd recommend sizing down

    Looks like a great jacket. A great rain jacket is important to have! I had a but of a laugh when you dumped water on yourself, but it proved that the jacket works!
    Hope you don't get thirsty on the way back since you dumped your water!
    Thanks and have a great week!

    Ahhhh mate love it. For such a well known brand who makes top end kit, there's not many reviews of Arktis kit out there. Looking forward to see what you think of their smocks and other kit 👍

      That will chance with the new US branch i guess.

      I waited the review too (for the B310), I've chosen a Leo Köhler BW KSK (I like also the Särmä TST L4 he reviewed but too pricy for me and not enough colour choices to be 'more civilian')

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hopefully I can help to spread the good word. You're spot on though. There's lots of awesome brands out there that just use old fashioned word of mouth within smaller niche communities. I've always found it strange that none of these communities make some content to help others. There's a few reasons I started doing TH-cam stuff and the main one was just that

  • @JamesWilliam70
    @JamesWilliam70 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have one in m90 cam, I wear it over my TAD shagmaster, it does the job, packs down good for those unexpected showers. Simple carry kit.

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Simple wins hands down everytime 🤙 how's the Shag master? Always been curious about TAD gear

    • @JamesWilliam70
      @JamesWilliam70 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MoorlanderEDC The shagmaster is of high quality and warm as you would expect, the only thing I'm a little disappointed in are the slightly loose drafty sleeve ends when you don't have a long sleeved shirt underneath, It does have thumbholes in the sleeve ends so not that bad. I still think they are overpriced, but that's mainly due to west coast US design & manufacturing and duties to the UK no doubt.

      @MoorlanderEDC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@madbroindustries Hey fella, hope you're good. Sorry I missed your comment. Yes, this isn't fully water proof like a Gortex hardshell. The DWR coating does a great job at keeping you dry, however it won't take a heavy and prolonged onslaught of rain. If it's coming down sidewards, find shelter 😆

    Evening, enjoyed the video enormously so big thanks to you for doing it. I’ve been undecided on rain protection and have tended to gravitate towards a Helikon Tex Poncho as it has the advantages of rolling small, covers the rucksack / shoulder bag and makes a small shelter on break. As I work my way to my “ultimate” get up and go outfit, I must admit, I quite like exploring all these offshoots and you are always making me “think again”. As a biker, I know that drop liner waterproofs tend equally to be warmer - is this the case with this? Would that be a hindrance in the warmer days? You mentioned the roll up size… and pointed out that another one was smaller… what was this one, the rainshield reduce to? Again thanks for everything. Alan

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're more than welcome Alan. I'm glad to hear my content helps and is thought provoking 🤙
      Yes, it's warm but not warm. There's no real thermal properties to the jacket, however, keeping the wind and rain away definitely helps. To some small degree the material helps to keep in a wee bit of heat. If you just where the jacket over a tshirt though it's pretty cool. Having that additional internal insulation layer helps. Plus there's a layer of air between the outer nylon and the internal dropliner too.
      As far as breathability, it's as you'd probably expect from two layers of synthetic material
      Thanks for watching ✌️

    How long do you think this jacket would keep you dry in medium to heavy rain whilst walking on the hills of the Lake District. Cheers

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, now you're asking. Really it's that point where it's that wet that the DWR coating is over loaded. I'd guess (and this is purely a reasonably educates guess) about half an hour in a heavy rain, maybe an hour. It's still keep you dry it you need to get down from somewhere. The main issue will probably be the seams as they're not taped. You could buy some taping to help seal them however I'm not 100% sure how much heat you could apply to the fabric as it's thin. You could try several tea towels and press through them. You'll find that sweet spot eventually

    Do u have any info on the lengths of the rain shields? I only find waist and chest sizes on the charts by arktis

    • @MoorlanderEDC
      @MoorlanderEDC  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmmmm... No sorry. If it helps I'm 5'10" and the bottom of the jacket can be tucked under my bum to keep it dry. I'd say it's as long as you'd expect for a jacket like this, if not slightly longer. Hope that helps 🤙

    So no real use over a significant period of time, no actual use in adverse conditions, at best a second hand review based on information from other youtubers and the experance of your wife on one occasion, not realy a high quality review was it.
    I guess you need gear to review so that you can produce content, Arkits and others send you free gear, you feel obligated to speak positively about the product in order to continue to receive free gear, so that you can continue to produce content. The ultimate fate of nearly all gear reviewers. What's next a video of you cooking your breakfast?
    For me the whole reason to watch a kit review is to help make an informed decision about a product. I need to feel I can trust the person giving the review. I don't get that from this video. What I see someone who used to be trusted become just another corporate shill.
    Here's my review based on your review, I don't know if this jacket is worth the very high price Arkits undoubtedly charge for it, it's essensaly just a baggy lightweight nylon rain jacket, much like the ones made by Peter Storm the ones that retail for about a tenner. But this one is green. I think it's splash proof, but I can't tell you if it's watter proof. However it's green and I like that, oh and by the way it's got a tiny pocket and a cheep zip. But its green and its target market specialist police officer and special forces operators so its got to be good.
    If I am going to spend my hard earned cash on a some gear I want to know a lot more about it, for example how good is the jacket at managing condensation? Is breathable or have Arkits done something clever with the design so that moisture doesn't build up? Can you vent the jacket when active? How small will it pack down? What does it weigh. What does it cost. Why would I choose that jacket over a conventional heaver jacket.
    You can do better!
    I might have well watched a bikini try on video for the use this was.. 😢

      Hey, hope you're well buddy. The previous day with Mrs Moorlander was one time out there'd been two precious weekends out testing in the rain. Pretty lucky it's been raining a lot recently. Had two hours walking the dog in a medium rain and kept me dry throughout
      I get people calling me a shill every now and again. I don't mind especially if you don't live with me or act as my secretary. Generally I only agree to make content on products I think I'll like before start. There's a lot of products I either refuse or I've received and contacted the manufacturer back to talk it through with them first. I don't like to have a pros and cons list as others do as a con for me might be a pro for somebody else, so I regularly say "here's an observation, and this is how I'd prefer it was or how I'd change it". Everything gets tested. I'm not the type to get a product and make content without using it first. I wish companies were sending me fat cheques to roll over and preech nonsense. That's not me or my channel fella
