Totally fair that babies don’t remember these tropical vacations and in a lot of ways make the vacation more difficult to be fully relaxing. However, until you have babies, it’s hard to understand that even if parents do have someone to watch the baby, it may not be possible for a mom to separate from the baby for feeding purposes. Depending on the family, this could go for months or years. In my experience it’s often better for the Mom to still take a trip by bringing baby than stay stuck at at home for years on end. It’s not only about the pictures you can take in the sun. Also, babies are much easier to travel with than mobile toddlers needing constant naps and schedules.
All I have to day is "until you have babies" would be assuming everyone wants babies, which newsflash them and myself don't so yeah we don't really want a crying, screaming, trashing, tantrum making baby on your relaxation vacation.
@@stardoll1995 i mean on the other side babies are also people. imagine banning handicapped people with a brain disorder from vacation. as a society i think there is a point in accepting all people that are part of the society. we are not only talking about the resort here but also the plane. which is like public transport. you never know where someone is headed. maybe to grandma, maybe to a funeral. you are all sitting on this plane, which is also very damaging to the climate btw. so I cannot really understand why people feel entitled to be mad about a baby. There are also babies in trains. Without babies there weren't any adults either. I also think the person who commented did not mean until in like a ... when you have babies, but in like if you have them you learn some things you would not have guessed before. same with cats until you have them you have no idea how quickly you will be awake in the morning when you hear them puking. doesn't mean I want you to have them.
@@sarahe.1159 I have had to fly my infant for medical appointments! We love regional and have to fly to the city to go to the hospital! It would be an 18 hour drive so I don’t think babies should be banned from flights 😂😂😂
Yay, very glad you finally took a much needed vacation, good job!! Loved hearing your stories and seeing the photos, hopefully you take MANY more and much more often! 😃
Oh no. That discussion about the Menchie and Zyler is so sad. One of my cats got really "anxious" and clingy when she got older and after her siblings died and it turns out that she was very uncomfortable. She's now on meds so I hope their cats are okay.
I just need to share that my cat loves this podcast for some reason. I had never noticed but today I played the video on my tv (I never do) and he can’t stop watching you guys talk. He even moves his head back and forth depending on who’s talking. He doesn’t normally watch tv and I can’t stop laughing 😂
*As far as customs* generally you have to clear customs with your bags at the *first point of entry into your destination country...* So for example, if you wanted your bags to go all the way through, try to simply have your connecting flight be in the US instead (or any other country besides Canada) ❤
My husband and I went to a concert that was a couple hours away, so we got a hotel that was pet friendly and brought our cat. To our surprise, the hotel had a loft and our cat LOVED it. The stairs, the ledges, he thrived. I honestly keep wondering where else we could go to stay at another pet friendly place.
Regarding adults throwing tantrums on planes - I feel like the adults of right now were raised with the “respect your elders” mindset, and now that they are older they think that means they don’t have to listen to anyone younger.
The Vacation is not for thebaby, its for the parents! You cant imagine the toll parenthood puts on you, escaping the four walls is great for mental health! ❤
@@catherineturner161is there a law forbidding people to bring their kids on vacation? Because if you can take a plane by yourself I don't see why a parent can't do the same with their kid 🤷🏻♀️
@Anna L because the parent is putting the baby in pain for their vacation. That is why babies cry so much. Their ears pop which is very different for babies to adults. It can be very painful. To be clear I don't think no babies should be allowed to fly, but I think if you're taking a baby on a plane for a vacation it will never remember snd likely putting it in pain during the process, I am allowed to be annoyed at the noise it makes. It's upsetting to hear a baby cry like that.
@@catherineturner161 not every kid reacts the same way. I've been in flights long hours with toddlers who didn't cry even once. If it was dangerous no parent would ever bring their kids on a plane and pediatricians would say the same. But they can handle it. When they cry it's usually because they can't verbalize their feelings. Kids deserve to travel as much as you and me.
@Anna L not talking about toddlers, I'm talking about babies. Not every baby will get it, but often when you hear that unusual really awful cry on planes that so many people hate, it's because their ears have popped. It's not dangerous It is painful. You can look it up. It's because a part of their ear isn't fully developed that makes it hurt when their ears pop.
AHAHAHA OMG the pineapple thing!! I thought that only applied to ornaments at home! Not sure where I heard about it, but if you visit someone and they have an upside down pineapple ornament it's supposed to indicate they are swingers. 😂 I did not think it applied to fabric patterns. 😂😂😂
Honestly I don’t want to travel with my child until she’s old enough to keep her composer. I took her on one flight that lasted 45 minutes to visit my dad who was in rehab and wanted to surprise him by bringing his granddaughter to meet him for the first time(yes she’s 2 and will never remember but that’s not the point in my specific situation). But that flight was so nerve wracking, she’s the type of kid that can’t sit still and wants to explore but the flight is so short, getting up and moving around other than to use the bathroom isn’t allowed so I had to try to keep a 2 year old babies attention for what felt like eternity. She started to cry and argue with me for the last 20 minutes and the lady next to me kept trying to ignore her but I felt so bad and frustrated. Ever since that I get anxiety just thinking about traveling with her via airplane at least until she’s 5-7 years old and can understand why she would need to behave. As a mom, I never want to be THAT mom on an airplane who just lets their kid cry and completely ignores them and forces everyone to deal with it but also, noise canceling headphones are a great investment if you travel at all because people will bring their children no matter how you feel about it🤷🏽♀️ Just like how I had my reasons, other people have theirs.
If he goes there again he would want to take Christine with him and because that’s a long distance flight and Christine isn’t used to that idk when the next would be

Just FYI people with babies often goes to vacation spots to ease baby's exema or allergies. My friends daughter had her first flight at 6 month old, on doctor recomendation (we are in middle of europe so going by car is not good option with a baby because the trip is close to 24 hours of driving if you want to go to the sea which is warm and good to bath in it) to ease her painful exema, yes she was crinf whole flight, but she was cryhing her whole life from pain. And after a week by the sea she had most of her skin vcleared for months.
@@KingGarfieldJFC it can help, as a kid I went to seaside to ease my allergy on medical care expenses. It helped better than any immunizations injections.
I am a flight attendant and I have to agree with Ben. It feels like before COVID people behaved differently than they do now. There *is* a lot of inter-company memos about how this has been happening more, but as far as I know, the companies haven't released statements about it
Cristine, you could visit Aoshima, a Japanese cat island. It's full of cats. Apparently, cats are important in japanese culture in general, but on this island they have a huge population and people feed them. Another place is Egypt, cats are everywhere in the city (and they also have a history of adoring cats)
I think they have talked about it on a previous podcast (I believe it is the one that was deleted, the hypothetical vacation one) where she said she felt the flight was too long.
Love the proposal congratulations for making it to dinner!! And regarding needy cats and ageing: our cat also definitely got cuddlier and needier as she aged, and tolerated us leaving for holiday less and less. I think the fact that she was generally less active and therefore had less distractions might have played a role, making us an even more essential part of her routine than before. We never took her with us to a holiday destination, though, as we felt it would be too stressful since she was not used to it. Cats usually need a few weeks to acclimatise to a new place (at least that's my experience when moving)
“I think the parents that like being parents want their babies… with them???” 😂 I love this! As a parent that likes it I can confirm that this is indeed true! I will take my infant on a beach vacation!

I pay for 2 people and can do week vacation between 500 and 900€ 😅
36:40 from someone with some insider info, the cats are used in the resorts for pest control (mice, small lizards and what not) The workers are not to acknowledge them, its just to prevent turists from thinking the hotel is plagued or something
I can sympathize with the flight delay stuff… we lost a whole day of our honeymoon because JFK (Delta specifically) let our bags sit for literally 4hrs. We could have gone and gotten them ourselves, and we asked like 3 times if we should do that, and ended up staying overnight at JFK to get our bags and fly the next day. I’m happy your vacation was mostly relaxing and fun 😊
Also, from November Air Transat will now have a direct flight from Ottawa to Punta Cana 🌻 So that should be super helpful if you want to head here again 🌈
As someone who has travelled the world... from the ages pf 6 weeks old to age 8, I'm low key kind of mad I can't remember it. But then I remember my parent's had a nice time and figure if they have to drag their kid to go see and do amazing things.. well.. they still remember the trip even if I didn't.
100% with you on the adults-only/#childfree vacation preference. It *is* tough to find good places or resorts, as they very quickly take a turn into swinger and misc other aLtErNaTiVe LiFeStYLe territory. Which is a big ⚡⚡no thanks⚡⚡.
It has sparked a conversation recently in my country when a restaurant wrote some passive aggressive rules about parents with children not being allowed in their establishment, and people were angry because mothers with children are already being excluded from social life and expected to just stay at home for ten years and we try to pretend that maternity doesn't exist and we treat it like something unwanted.. and I agree. People are forgetting that mothers are people too and need to go out or take a vacation, and yeah, the kids can cry or scream sometimes because they don't know how to handle their emotions yet.. I wish people understood that.
@@AdelaPondelickova then go to places where you can hang out with your children and be a mom, there's no reason for me to try and hang out with friends while a couple of tables over there's a child screaming their lungs out and their parents are doing nothing about it. And the looks of judgement are really isolating! Can't we show more support to parents? Our social life is already suffering, don't take this away from us too.
I can fully admit and need to work on the fact that I’m such a hypocrite when it comes to this! I don’t like to be bothered by noise of children and babies on planes or vacation (I purposely choose adults only resorts) but when it comes to my nephews or I’m sure my soon to be born baby, I prefer them over anyone or anything so I’m totally fine if THEYRE noisy lol it’s other kids I don’t want to hear! But soon as I see the parent is trying and being apologetic, it makes me want to help them and feel bad for judging.
@@PrincessElisa8 I mean same 😏😂 with my own kids I know how to react and what they need in the moment. Sometimes I get overstimulated with the commotion that kids can bring. But in a situation like being on a plane, I know it’s stressful for the parents and the child so why bring more stress and just offer help if it’s needed. If anything get noise canceling headphones.

Love that Ben brought his 1989 Swiftie hat 🥰
Thanks for sharing, we're all invested! Turkey is the land of stray cats (videos are so cute).
As a college student, Ben is cool enough to hang on a Spring Break trip.
The pineapple bit was hilarious. If you go to The Villages, Florida...pineapples and different colored loofas are very popular.
omg...I live near there and its full of older people, old people swingers 🤣
@@TheCyberPlush I mean... they gotta find something to occupy the time and keep themselves active..
I heard a dermatologist say not to forget your ears because it’s the most common part people forget about and then they lose their ears 🙃
If you wanna go to a city filled with cats, you can go to Istanbul! It's known as one of the most cat friendly cities in the world!
Not human friendly, unfortunately. Barely a decade without some kind of dictatorship since the 15th century.
You guys speak my thoughts about air travel, babies, vacations without screaming children, i agree! Lmao
Sorry folks, the pineapple thing is definitely a thing!
Congratulations for having dinner 😂😂😂😂
The Vacation is not for thebaby, its for the parents! You cant imagine the toll parenthood puts on you, escaping the four walls is great for mental health! ❤
You don't need to go on a plane to go on vacation though.
It's not dangerous
It is painful.
i was thinking the same thing. i remember hearing about gifting pineapples as a proposition, but i never heard about it related to clothing at all
Honestly I don’t want to travel with my child until she’s old enough to keep her composer.
I empathize. Its def not a situation anyone wants to be in.
I am inspired, I need a vacation too! Congrats on your vacation and I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves.
I’m so happy you guys had fun on my home land!! I would love to hear more about ben’s experience of going to Australia in a future podcast! ♥️
If he goes there again he would want to take Christine with him and because that’s a long distance flight and Christine isn’t used to that idk when the next would be

Is the fact that I have watched every episode a problem???
You guys are always such positive vibes. Literally makes me feel better just to hear you both speak. And always so respectful of each other and the world around you.
You make my day/week 🎉💙

There are many friendly kitties at the Greek islands and May/September are perfect for a less crowded but sunny vacation!
Definitely a summer beach theme polish line coming ❤
I am a flight attendant and I have to agree with Ben. It feels like before COVID people behaved differently than they do now. There *is* a lot of inter-company memos about how this has been happening more, but as far as I know, the companies haven't released statements about it
Cristine, you could visit Aoshima, a Japanese cat island. It's full of cats. Apparently, cats are important in japanese culture in general, but on this island they have a huge population and people feed them. Another place is Egypt, cats are everywhere in the city (and they also have a history of adoring cats)
there's a lot of cats roaming around in Greece, so Beyn use that as a way to convince Christine to go on a longer flight!!
He actually showed her a video of cats of Greece on the last stream!
Really love the hoodie! So happy ya all went on vacation!!! Yay! Congratulations on vacation and eating dinner on the beach 😂
Loved hearing your vacay stories! Glad y'all enjoyed a nice break (even without any monkehs) 😊
Someone tell Cristine about the cat island😂
I will take my infant on a beach vacation!
i am shook at yall saying the food in DR was not very good. this has to be a resort thing because actual dominican food is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD
Same! That comment confused me so much because all the Dominican food I've had has been delicious.
The food at resorts is not Dominican food. Its made for international tourist who can’t handle too many spices and seasonings.
1000$ a night, omg... I spent 150€ for two people for a week and thought I went crazy. Oh to be rich 😍
€150 for a whole week?? Where is that? :O
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a room less than $150 a night where was that 😅
1000 a NIGHT??? i can pay for a year of college with that money. Not even kidding. Everyday i curse myself for being born in a third world country
@@lizalove91 I'm a poor european so I only go to european islands 😂 No Caribbean for me... But places like Crete, Corfu, Fuertaventura, Mallorca and a bunch of others are doable even when you are broke. But I must say I don't go on all inclusive, I plan and buy everything myself, wait for cheap plane tickects, book my room on booking and rent a car instead of going on paid excursions. I pay for 2 people and can do week vacation between 500 and 900€ 😅
36:40 from someone with some insider info, the cats are used in the resorts for pest control (mice, small lizards and what not)
The workers are not to acknowledge them, its just to prevent turists from thinking the hotel is plagued or something
I’m so happy you went to punta cana. I’m Dominican and I’m taking my kids for the first time. We’re going to hard rock cafe
Ive never been so early. What a treat. What a dream.
Saaame. But I'd easily take Swingers resorts over resorts with kids 😆😆
Child free anything sounds delightful
Parents (not only mothers) want to paint themselves as the victims, we didn't force you to have children, don't force your crying children onto us, there's a reason why we decided to be child free

My connecting flight from Toronto to home was canceled on my way to the airport and the next flight with space was 24 hours later. Decided to cut my losses and caught the UP Xpress to Union and caught a train instead. Highly recommend if you don’t have too much baggage to haul on the UP!
I remember the looks I got when I boarded a plane with my toddler and my newborn strapped to me 😂😅 luckily my baby slept the entire trip from NJ to CA
And the looks of judgement are really isolating! Can't we show more support to parents? Our social life is already suffering, don't take this away from us too.
@@elliejackson7353 definitely! I think empathy and understanding have been the last thing on everyone’s minds and it’s a shame
@@butt.whytho oh yeah! This society seems to have had this concept that children should be seen and not heard and that’s very harmful.
April/May are my ideal beach trips, mainly because they're empty but the weather is still nice. The locals are always super friendly too compared to summer with the crowds. I love having the beach to "myself".
Maybe the cats are like at Disneyland, where they let them out at night to eat the mice and they’re trained to go back in before sunrise.
Paphos, Cyprus. Lots of cats!!
