    I really love these videos lately on how to do things that people think are harder than they are. I was trying to do a fun DIY project with my friend a while back and she was terrified to use the soldering iron. I showed her your last how to solder video and she realized that it really isn't a big deal and is a useful skill to learn. Thank you! :)

    Back in the 90's I worked for an electronics company and we used PCB Holders. Makes it so much easier to solder components, onto a circuit board. I would recommend one if you solder components on a PCB on a regular basis. Amazon sells a bunch of them.

  • @KjartanAndersen
    @KjartanAndersen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One thing that everyone doing soldering also should pay attention to is the temperature tolerance of the component. Some components could be destroyed if you use to much time soldering it. The datasheet for the component would indicate this if it is an issue. One of the most common errors beginners do when soldering is to use too high temperature on their iron or use too much time fiddling about and end up with a perfectly soldered destroyed component.

      @@keemot1767 Rosin Activated (RA) type flux, and a bottle of acetone to clean off flux residue. Also stick with 63/37 tin-lead solder. Don't use the unleaded solder, it's harder to work with and there's nothing to gain from it unless you or your pets like to chew on solder joints.
      I wouldn't bother with RMA (rosin mildly activated) or no-clean or water-soluble fluxes. They're not nearly as good as the standard RA flux. You can get it in a pen type applicator which is refillable and easy to apply to pads on PCBs, etc.

      @@veegee24 Thank you, I really appreciate the time you took to give me actual solid advice. I've been struggling to find someone who knows what they're talking about, and you and someone else said identical things about flux being mandatory and having good solder for an easier job.
