This turned out so much like a casual conversation over tea, where you start discussing the "disheartening road quality in your area" and move to different tangent like lack of foresight, cheaping out on materials, corruption etc, and in the end circle back to the mutual concern of "disheartening road quality in your area".
@@motorinc content wise, it was great. The time was filled well despite there not being too much to discuss. Touching on the subtle differences between the brands and their current lineup, the perception of the customer and the reality of the situation. Just that there was not a whole lot about the car itself - which is a good thing in this case than repeating the whole fronx set. But since the conversation was more on tangents than the car, it was that less exciting and engaging. Maybe consider shortening the length in such cases?
I really want a fronx owner to get the badges, bodykit to convert it to a Taisor and try getting it serviced from toyota or vice versa. Just to mess with them. :D
24:13 “the chime also makes a difference” - 100% , I can attest to that. My car’s passanger seatbelt warning chime is so loud and annoying that people immediately buckle up as soon as they get in. Now I don’t have to repeatedly ask people to wear seatbelt. 30:30 thank you so much for bringing it up! People don’t realise how important ESP & Traction control are to cars. A personal request, but can please have Kartikeya talk about the Ignis? We talk a lot about small cars for the city but hardly about the Ignis, it’s only mentioned in passing here and there. I understand that asking Kartikeya to talk about a car that essentially has remained unchanged since 2017 is a lot of work for barely any return. It’s so nice to see the Taisor/Fronx getting a perspective from the Baleno/Glanza. I have a request to the team to cover the i20 and its higher powered N-Line cousin. The car has been the mainstay of the big hatchbacks in India for over a decade and seen multiple facelifts over 3 generations. It used to compete with the Figo, Polo and Punto. And now it competes with newer offerings like the Altroz and Baleno. It’s evolved over time and still managed to remain a default for many looking to buy a car in that segment. Now that it has a 118bhp sporty cousin with an power plant not available in the standard variants, the i20 N-line more than ever has greater differentiation from the family-friendly machine we all know and love, when compared to the Venue and Create N Line.
Fun Fact- Many Toyota dealerships across India have been providing discount and offers on the Hilux in which you can get either get 10L off on the price of the top end Hilux or get the Glanza with the Hilux included in the Hilux's price

I got a top spec Taisor 1.0 V AT for my mom delivered on the 27th of July, it has run roughly 1,700kms since then. The subtle styling especially in the bluish silver colour I picked really appealed to me and this might be a very small detail but the brake light and how it's encased in a clear lens really won me over. I love looking at it, along with the classier petal design alloys as points of differentiation over the aggressively styled Fronx. The part that hurt me the most was the on road price which comes out to just under 16l including insurance, extended warranty and all. I got a 51k discount after multiple rounds of back and forth with the inept dealer in my town. At that price point we only chose this car cause we were upgrading from a Tiago AMT, needed a small footprint and wanted a TC or DCT only and the Altroz Ricer didn't come with an AT option. For anybody else considering this as their primary car should definitely look at cars like the Elevate or the City once.
@@sierrachief117 I know but I was willing to look past those for the overall package it offered, I drove the NA DCA and although it didn’t feel like a conventional DSG, it was amply smooth and rode well on the highway. What killed it for me was that same lame 1.2 Revotron that I’d been using in my Tiago for the past 6 years. I drove the Ricer MT and even that didn’t feel particularly rev-happy and the gearbox+clutch combo was so bad especially for city driving. The i20 N Line with the DCT was much better to drive although the suspension felt too stiff for someone like my mom otherwise it was available for cheaper with more features than the Taisor.

Taisor will come a full circle for toyota-suzuki hybrid partnership once suzuki launches the series hybrid. I wish suzuki to give atleast a 3kWh battery and an option to plug in charge that battery pack. Also provide a roof solar panel to provide energy for passive cooling when parked in sunlight (cycle the air inside the car). 😂 I am writing these because series hybrid with plugin in option and solar roof has been in my mind since 2014 Also, I vote for google maps to have an option for Karthikeya's and Shumi's voice
I believe you have already covered this topic briefly how to handle intricate situations but how do you handle a situation where other party is aggressive and attacking you or your vehicle. Request you to cover if possible.. thank you.
I’m in the market for a used hatchback/CSUV to keep as a 2nd car in the garage. Test drove Balenos/Glanzas, and a Fronx as well. All said and done, I keep gravitating back to the Ignis. VERY underrated! VERY fun!
If you don't mind a not in production car i think a Honda Jazz will fit your requirement. Few months ago i was in the same boat and eventually went for a used Honda Jazz CVT. Couldn't be happier. In the city and highway. Very practical. Especially if it's your second car. Acres of space as well.

I think when Toyota asked their designers to not touch those drab interiors, they took it out on the wheels. Reminded me of how Kawasaki did the saree guard on the Ninja 1000. Questions on AMTs : - Do they roll back on an incline? - If they have a hill hold is it automatic or has to be manually engaged like the handbrake? - If they do it automatically then does it still roll back 1-2 feet before moving forward? Asking this because I had come across someone who encountered this roll back in a Glanza test drive and I assume the same for all AMTs.
*sees 34 min MotorInc First* "Oh, there's not much to talk about, is there? 😬" Never thought me, with my low- attention span, would be saying those words. Ever. Thanks for that Kartikey Sir and Shumi Sir 🫡😂
Love your Podcasts as usual and big fan of Shumi sir and Kartikeya sir. I would like to add something out of my own experience of owning an Urban cruiser (no suffix 😂). Bought only because I got a better price during the phasing out stage of the car. Toyota service experience is probably better for actual Toyota cars. I’ve been behind the service centre (Lanson Toyota) for fixing a screeching sound from the ISG, when the idle settles in a cold start or when the car auto starts with the auto start stop function. I seriously doubt if they have the ability to fix it versus a Maruti Service centre. So, the point I am trying to make is, buy a Maruti car when the mechanicals are Maruti’s (GV mild hybrid for example) and a Toyota car (Hycross and Hyryder full hybrid for example). Not sure if their service training is the same for both the counterparts.
I am glad that you points the windscreen wiper... The sad part is that most of Indian market, and especially the 5 star guys, don't even bother about the basic thing like wiper... Even Magnite deleted it from their base model, even though they had made it standard... Hatches, Crossovers, and SUVs should have it
yo this was a great episode absoloutely loved it thanks for all the information u guys have shared i have a request for Motorinc team plz make an episode on THIS-CONNECT How should u test the vehicles, how should they feel , how long shall you take a test ride etc and all after learning so much from this channel i have learned that being connected to bike is very important , the comfort , the suspension , the chassis etc My father recently bought a bike and he just liked the looks of it and went ahead no doubt its a good commuter but thats for him , when i ride the bike at lower speeds it still okay, but as u touch higher speeds it literally gets the thrills , it cant go above 65 it will shake like crazy and i learned riding on this bike also my dad took the test ride but it was like a small round around the block like hardly a KM and i often see u guys recommending that you should test drive , i want to ask how long should i take or atleast what are the minimum perimeteres which it should cross that the bike can be purchased i know it totally depends on what type of rider u are like , are u agressive , or prefer to cruise at lower constant speeds etc just want a whole guide video on it
@ 24:16, it would be great if you could also add a chime sound clip, similar to how you include images and details. It's not a must, but it would be a nice touch."
The Fortuner, though not the greatest of vehicles around, has a certain Charm to it, according to me. Which makes it a priced possession for some people and bullying weapon for some other people. Sure the Innova rides so much better, but doesn't have as much charm as the Fortuner. We'll have to wait and see how the Suzuki Fortuner hold up, if it is coming through.
We bought the Glanza in AMT a few months ago. I had test-driven the manual version as well, but we chose the AMT because my brother thought it would be more convenient. However, it's been quite frustrating for daily use. I strongly recommend going for the manual instead. The 1.2L K-series engine is smooth and refined, but the AMT really diminishes the experience. The rubberband effect gets exhausting in everyday driving, and the fuel efficiency suffers too. We're barely getting 12 kmpl in the city.
@@gramisanvaz4122 please take an extensive test drive, simulating various situations. While the gearbox is fine for bumper to bumper traffic, and probably even for open highways, as it doesn’t have to shift gears much. But it can get cumbersome and annoying in tier 2 city driving conditions, where you can’t really drive freely, but also the traffic is moderate. I personally don’t feel very confident in quick overtakes as well, because the gearbox is unpredictable and I’m scared the gears would shift suddenly while overtaking.
@@gramisanvaz4122Yes it does. That’s what I’ve been doing. But again, the downshifts are automatic and quite aggressive. See it’s not really a major issue as such, but more of an annoyance. If you really want an automatic, then go for it. But manual has a better driving experience without a doubt.
See a 34 minute video on the taisor. I thought in minute one it will be schumi saying it’s the same as the fronx and move on to something entirely different. Fingers crossed as I will watch it later at night, but just wanted to drop this in as a reaction to the thumbnail in the feed. Also please do review the basalt, seeing how much love and frustration the c3 aircross got out of you both am wondering where the basalt tips the scales. Also what’s a seat belt load sensor cost that’s so difficult for manufacturers to add it Edit. Yeah called it right. Shocked by how little schumi mocked them. Did he have a fun ride coming into the studio ans was full of his years quota of Christmas cheer. Cmon we are here for the snark. Fun convo still. Also is the manual badged Maruti?
Dear Shumi and Karthik I have a small request please make all videos available for the public like I can't even watch the ones which are exclusive for all access members only 😢❤
I own a Spresso (the maruti one). Whenever i give it to service to the dealer....the parts whichever r replaced, whther it be the air filter or the indicator stalk assembly. They will keep the old part in ur trunk whenever they deliver the car back to u. The disposal of those parts is a hassle, but the satisfaction u get tht the new part has been replaced and it's not just the old part cleaned up and put back is a nice feeling. Also the service experience is flawless...🫡
Hi guys, I think you missed something important: Toyota being a car maker with far superior reach over Suzuki. So a Toyota Taisor can get sales in Mexico, Brazil or Italy but Suzuki Fronx would find it harder. So badge engineering also possibly for exporting reach is a net positive for Suzuki

They can absolutely take a page out of their book. But Hyundai and kia are the same company while Suzuki and Toyota are different. Toyota can fix that for sure though.

The only thing Maruti Suzuki does not offer is the snob value. Everything else is just spot on -the engine performance, fuel economy, reliability, and service network. The build quality of some MS cars is questionable, but you get your money’s worth.
This staregy works well for Toyota and it was perfect reason, In a scenario of economic downturn or get into recession where The core Toyota cars will be selling less and sometimes the Channel partners get into losses, since the operations cost will always there and may not be sustainable anymore and closes the dealership. So counter that Toyota management decided to bring the smaller cars from Suzuki in a fastest way possible to sell these from Toyota dealership and make more sustainable operation, Brilliant. And customers who have experienced Smaller cars are almost automatically Toyota core product customer in future. Atleast now you can see more Toyota car on road

Don't know how many "proper rides" I'll be doing on it per se, but we're both already loving it, even as a runabout. I just love how eagerly and confidently it changes direction with just a shift in weight. We both love the compactness of it.
Going to PPF the translucent panels and change the black zip ties to orange tomorrow 😀

Congratulations D! That will be epic!
😂 I am writing these because series hybrid with plugin in option and solar roof has been in my mind since 2014
Also, I vote for google maps to have an option for Karthikeya's and Shumi's voice
We’re doubting the seriousness of your recommendations because of the last one. 😁
I believe you have already covered this topic briefly how to handle intricate situations but how do you handle a situation where other party is aggressive and attacking you or your vehicle. Request you to cover if possible.. thank you.
Thanks for the suggestion. Our top advice is avoid getting into those situations as far as possible. De-escalate every opportunity you get.
@@wilsonmpaul jazz is awesome!! I do have a Honda Elevate already though, so looking for a different badge/engine experience. 😅

Thank you for listening to feedback and making Season 1 of ThisConnect Podcast Public
More sensible conversation, far better than other shady TH-camrs
Good discussion, folks!
A quick question, do you not post these to podcast feeds anymore? I don't see the newest episodes for First/ThisConnect in Apple Podcasts or Pocket Casts.
We don’t have the bandwidth to manage so many platforms. RSS feeds will probably not be updated either. We are working on an alternative solution though - please do stay tuned.
I think when Toyota asked their designers to not touch those drab interiors, they took it out on the wheels.
Reminded me of how Kawasaki did the saree guard on the Ninja 1000.
Questions on AMTs :
- Do they roll back on an incline?
- If they have a hill hold is it automatic or has to be manually engaged like the handbrake?
- If they do it automatically then does it still roll back 1-2 feet before moving forward?
Asking this because I had come across someone who encountered this roll back in a Glanza test drive and I assume the same for all AMTs.
😅

"Oh, there's not much to talk about, is there? 😬"
Never thought me, with my low- attention span, would be saying those words. Ever. Thanks for that Kartikey Sir and Shumi Sir 🫡😂
Oh wow! Glad we could have you with us through our! 🙏🏾
Hullo AS! Thank you so much for letting us know. That is shocking. Wouldn’t have expected this from Toyota.
Gyan sir, good choice
“Wiping the rear just makes sense” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I am glad that you points the windscreen wiper... The sad part is that most of Indian market, and especially the 5 star guys, don't even bother about the basic thing like wiper...
Even Magnite deleted it from their base model, even though they had made it standard...
Hatches, Crossovers, and SUVs should have it
Absolutely!
yo this was a great episode absoloutely loved it thanks for all the information u guys have shared
i have a request for Motorinc team plz make an episode on THIS-CONNECT
How should u test the vehicles, how should they feel , how long shall you take a test ride etc and all
after learning so much from this channel i have learned that being connected to bike is very important , the comfort , the suspension , the chassis etc
My father recently bought a bike and he just liked the looks of it and went ahead no doubt its a good commuter
but thats for him , when i ride the bike at lower speeds it still okay, but as u touch higher speeds it literally gets the thrills , it cant go above 65 it will shake like crazy
and i learned riding on this bike also my dad took the test ride but it was like a small round around the block like hardly a KM
and i often see u guys recommending that you should test drive , i want to ask how long should i take or atleast what are the minimum perimeteres which it should cross that the bike can be purchased
i know it totally depends on what type of rider u are like , are u agressive , or prefer to cruise at lower constant speeds etc
just want a whole guide video on it
24:30 .exactly .the name was Urban cruiser only ... but now discontinued
Shumi's straight faced Puns 😛. Wiping the rear!! No wonder its the most replayed in the videos 🤣
No one likes a dirty rear end @nirmalsreerocks7 😅. Causes a lot of trouble in terms of visibility while driving.
@@motorinc That is a fact🤣🤣
@ 24:16, it would be great if you could also add a chime sound clip, similar to how you include images and details. It's not a must, but it would be a nice touch."
Thanks for the suggestion @neo4646
You guys have missed that, it's not the Toyota Taisor.. it's the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.. 😅
Shumi is so happy today! I think he brought ferocita to office today
😆
Rumion = Rum + Onions 🤣🤣. Man, Shumi had me here!
🙃
The Fortuner, though not the greatest of vehicles around, has a certain Charm to it, according to me. Which makes it a priced possession for some people and bullying weapon for some other people. Sure the Innova rides so much better, but doesn't have as much charm as the Fortuner. We'll have to wait and see how the Suzuki Fortuner hold up, if it is coming through.
😄 Let’s see!
Suzuki Fortuner is not happening like the Toyota Jimny didn’t happen

We bought the Glanza in AMT a few months ago. I had test-driven the manual version as well, but we chose the AMT because my brother thought it would be more convenient. However, it's been quite frustrating for daily use. I strongly recommend going for the manual instead. The 1.2L K-series engine is smooth and refined, but the AMT really diminishes the experience. The rubberband effect gets exhausting in everyday driving, and the fuel efficiency suffers too. We're barely getting 12 kmpl in the city.
@@nayanbhalotia thanks for that comment .. I was going to book the AMT in the next couple of days .. you made me think about my choice.
@@nayanbhalotia doesn’t switching to manual shifting help in these situations?
@@gramisanvaz4122Yes it does. That’s what I’ve been doing. But again, the downshifts are automatic and quite aggressive.
See it’s not really a major issue as such, but more of an annoyance. If you really want an automatic, then go for it. But manual has a better driving experience without a doubt.
@@nayanbhalotia Thanks a lot.. appreciate it!
Also what’s a seat belt load sensor cost that’s so difficult for manufacturers to add it
Edit. Yeah called it right. Shocked by how little schumi mocked them. Did he have a fun ride coming into the studio ans was full of his years quota of Christmas cheer. Cmon we are here for the snark.
Fun convo still. Also is the manual badged Maruti?
Hahaha PS! Well let the Shark know.
Why MS don’t provide Cruise Control in mid variants ?😐 like Hyundai !
Great suggestion.

It's fabulous
I own a Spresso (the maruti one). Whenever i give it to service to the dealer....the parts whichever r replaced, whther it be the air filter or the indicator stalk assembly. They will keep the old part in ur trunk whenever they deliver the car back to u. The disposal of those parts is a hassle, but the satisfaction u get tht the new part has been replaced and it's not just the old part cleaned up and put back is a nice feeling. Also the service experience is flawless...🫡

Cue MotorInc Shorts. Man, their shorts are another character out of these long form videos.
Which automatic car is good for city driving ?
@motorink Just a simple question, 'Basalt' when???? Eagerly waiting for it.
Thanks for waiting @pranaypuranik4476! We're waiting for more clarity on the price and the variants.

Seriously guys please try to prioritize the video on Basalt and it's comparison with Tata Curvv platform.
Eagerly waiting for that video.
Thanks again JJ. We are yet to drive the Curvv ICE though.
I think toyota and suzuki should analyse how kia and hyundai are executing badge engineering especially the alcazar and the carens
Absolutely.
They can absolutely take a page out of their book. But Hyundai and kia are the same company while Suzuki and Toyota are different. Toyota can fix that for sure though.
But I don't think the Japanese government would be thrilled if Toyota decided to buy out Suzuki.
Good point! 👍🏽
M thinking of getting Fronx over baleno because of ground clearance I m from a hilly place and the roads aren’t that good, m I going for the right choice?
Choice is good.. but would suggest not to go for AGS/AMT as you are from hilly area. Go for the manual transmission turbo engine..

I like how the video quickly went from review to TOYOTA - SUZUKI JV.
😃
The only thing Maruti Suzuki does not offer is the snob value. Everything else is just spot on -the engine performance, fuel economy, reliability, and service network. The build quality of some MS cars is questionable, but you get your money’s worth.
I do not agree on performance in anything above Baleno
@@Newbutold yeah. Their 1.5 is not as good as the 1.2
This staregy works well for Toyota and it was perfect reason, In a scenario of economic downturn or get into recession where The core Toyota cars will be selling less and sometimes the Channel partners get into losses, since the operations cost will always there and may not be sustainable anymore and closes the dealership.

@motorinc If possible, please do a video on dashcams, e.g., whether one should get front + rear, what are the use cases (just to safeguard yourself or to initiate legal action), what specs one should look at (HDR, Starvis 2, number plate readability, GPS, etc.), which brands currently available in India are good.
