“You’re just a lizard,” is the wrong thing to say to a salamander who can wield fire magic. First, the kid is disrespecting the salamander by saying that. Second, the kid is treating the salamander as a means to an end as it’s only a tool for him to wield magic. Third, it is offensive and provocative to the salamander, the kid never put himself in the salamander’s shoes and how he would feel if someone said something like that to him (if the kid was the salamander). Lastly, since the neighbors wield magic, the people who become magic users will need their help to conduct magic. If there is no mutual understanding or interdependence between the two parties it will be difficult to wield magic at all, among other things.
if i didnt know any better those two red heads could be Chise siblings she never knew about but only have differnt eye colors from a step dad or something....!!! that be a cool twist
Yes you should and while I don’t know if this a completely apt comparison the only way I can describe this series is if they made a Ghibli/Miyazaki film into an anime it’s that sort of thing where it combines the mundane average world with the fantastical at least in the first Season, Season 2 so far seems to be leaning much more on the fantastical
I'll at least admit the little kid has guts to call a fire elemental "a lizard" 😅. Pretty dumb... But gutsy. He'll make for a strong mage as he gets older and wiser.
It is rather ironic that, in a class on working with magical creatures to cast spells, two of the characters that do well in the class, namely the red-haired twins, are descendants of St. George: most famous for the legend in which he fought and slayed a dragon.
I never watched any episode before because I always thought the dude is searching for a wife and relationship stuff and not about magic school/beasts and action packed magical battles, I suspect. Or I'm wrong about this, which one now?
I think in a lot of ways it could be described as anime Beauty and the Beast. Though the general premise is the two of them learning how to be human: One isn't human, and the other gave up on life. The setting itself is framed with European mythology, and folklore.
I don't know, don't care what anime is this, people may call me simp for this.....but when i saw the index image as i scrolled down here. For a moment i thaught thats Sarada's mangekyou sharingan
“Kakuriyo bed and breakfast for spirits” plot- (slight spoilers) dad sells her to demon as collateral so she opens a restraint for spirits to repay the debt instead of marrying the demon.
Am i the only one who heard his words as "anyone who doesnt think they can do this right now give up i cant teach you" all i see is praise for his "wonderful" teaching when i see him failing to teach right here anyone wanna give a little insight?
As he said earlier in the episode (before this clip), It is simply impossible for people to become magus, regardless of skill or knowledge, if the fey do not like them.
This is an optional class for learning how to be a magus (who work with faeries and spirits to cast spells) in a school for sorcerers (who create their own magic). He told them beforehand that not everyone can become a magus because it requires being able to work with the fey.
I feel it kinda went to fast. I think I only saw 3 hands go up unless I miscounted and Chise probably didn't raise hers but do they really need to give up that fast. With time and patience theirs bound to be some kind spirit/neighbor they can use right? Don't remember a lot of the first season and might missing something
It's a working relationship, by sides have to be in agreement. Chise has it easy because she is basically the neighbours' Queen bee, they are naturally inclined to serve her. It could be a long time before the appropriate neighbour is found for some of them in which time the rest of the class is either being held back or those who aren't immediately apt are being given knowledge that might put them at great risk if they try again on their. Taking the kid for example, he'd be toast if he tried to do that outside the classroom. I think with the nature of magic, rather than sorcery, if no spirit is willing to work with them then there is no way for them to continue and practice what they are being taught so somewhat just wasting time at that point
@@hammer1349 I agree, as you said Chise is their queen bee, but they did try eat her when she first met them due to her magical abilities, so as you say now that she regulates her powers they sort of follow her, hence why Elias gave her the neighbour to calm down before scolding the class, she's already adept to them, technically she doesn't need to be there with Elias at home, but he refused to teach her things and she wanted to do more then be at home with her goat man child husband, who gets jealous of her having friends because he's mentally a child
I concur with the man above me, it is a marvelous show. Great animation, actual longterm character development, and complex characters that are usually well expanded upon.
I like it my only problem is that season one has some episodes where I feel it loses plot focus but season 2 seems like it won't have that issue. Overall really enjoyable.
Does anyone feel it? That the execution of certain scenes feels less whimsical compared to the first season? I get that the director changed and the series is entering a more mature, dark, and serious feel since we're dealing with humans, other organizations at ploy, and Chise's life in more grave trouble, but I feel the "magic" feel is kinda gone and I missed that aspect of the show. It really felt like it popped out of a fairytale and there's less of a magical feel since its all getting a "calculative" look if you understand what I mean.
Such is the nature of school. Its an inherently controlled environment by nature of what it is. The first season felt magical because we were learning first hand alongside Chise about what spirits did what and how likely they were to be a help/hinderence. The feeling of "magic" I suppose could be associated with freedom, the unknown and possibility. In a school environment those are replaced with cause and effect, knowledge and probability. It is not to say that it is not dangerous but we won't be seeing Chise try to go home the way Elias does and instead fly across the ocean as a phoenix because the spirits wanted to. Something else to consider is that the neighbours here seemingly aren't wild or in their natural habitat either. They have become acclimatised to a more controlled and regulated environment. They seemingly have allowed themselves to become predictable so they can assist teachers in training new mages. Given that a constant theme in the first season is that mages are a dying breed, I imagine they had some stakes in the game themselves so were likely more willing to lend their assistance. Elias probably made it clear to them what their role and purpose was beforehand
@@hammer1349 Ehm, no. The College doesn't train "magi" (mahoutsukai) who use spirits, it's for training "sorcerers" (majutsushi) who use their own power and/or tools. It's just an introductory elective about mahou lead by Elias as a guest teacher. So the spirits are those who just happen to be there at the moment (probably attracted by Chise's magic force).
Again, that's the difference between "magic" and "sorcery" in the setting. Magic is about using "neighbours" by making contracts with them, sorcery is about using the laws of magic, so it's more engineered approach.

If there is no mutual understanding or interdependence between the two parties it will be difficult to wield magic at all, among other things.
Just a lizard,
Turns into a fire breathing dragon. 0:40
I didn’t know they have season 2. I guess it’s time to pay for Crunchyroll. They make the best anime❤️❤️
if i didnt know any better those two red heads could be Chise siblings she never knew about but only have differnt eye colors from a step dad or something....!!! that be a cool twist
Awesome The Ancient Magus' Bride Season 2 Video.
I've seen this anime alot should I give it a try
Yes, yes you should
@@notl1ves alr
Yes you should and while I don’t know if this a completely apt comparison the only way I can describe this series is if they made a Ghibli/Miyazaki film into an anime it’s that sort of thing where it combines the mundane average world with the fantastical at least in the first Season, Season 2 so far seems to be leaning much more on the fantastical
yeah!!
I'll at least admit the little kid has guts to call a fire elemental "a lizard" 😅. Pretty dumb... But gutsy. He'll make for a strong mage as he gets older and wiser.
I can't wait to watch this!!
Damn, nobody tell them not to mess with any living thing that has a sharringan?
Well... They tried to put warnings before the spell, but few listen anyway...
The dude quite literally has no idea what a bride actually is, so no, he’s not actually searching for a partner in that sense
Elias is a creature, not a human, so his perception of human relationships is a bit off
I think in a lot of ways it could be described as anime Beauty and the Beast. Though the general premise is the two of them learning how to be human: One isn't human, and the other gave up on life. The setting itself is framed with European mythology, and folklore.
@@rahn45 Thank you for being the one person with an explanation and not one that's meaningless, just an insult, or super vague
@@shadowjgaming6502i understand everything else you said, but how were any of the replies insulting?
on what days does each episode air? is it like on a friday or saturday?
This episode aired today. Thursdays.
@@deusa_maah thanks fr
Well... guess it's good of Elias to just lay it all out like that.
😂😂😂 You wanted fire? Here 😂
Elias is so god
There’s only three episodes how many weeks does each episode come out?
Neighbors love redheads
Especially ones that are essentially magic batteries/generators
"you smell rusty" if a girl told me that Id give up entirely :(
Being disrespectful gets you nowhere really.
I don't know, don't care what anime is this, people may call me simp for this.....but when i saw the index image as i scrolled down here.
For a moment i thaught thats Sarada's mangekyou sharingan
She's going to school. I couldn't believe it.
Yeah, just a lizard that can do *THAT!*
(Also a lizard that can either/both understand Japanese and read human expressions, tone, and intent)
Technically a salamander should be an amphibian, surely?
They're actually in an English speaking country, so they're probably speaking English not Japanese. It's just that it's made in Japan.
@@Marcus_PostmaThey probably understand all languages tbh lol
ı thought this was sarada's ms for a second
“Kakuriyo bed and breakfast for spirits” plot- (slight spoilers) dad sells her to demon as collateral so she opens a restraint for spirits to repay the debt instead of marrying the demon.
How many episodes has released?
I don't know if I have the stomach to watch season 2. Season 1 was too dark for me 🫣🫣
I tried to get into this series in season 1. Idk why just couldn't
THEIR A SEASON 2222222 AAAAAAAAAAA
Name?
Nice👍👍👍
Wait ahat when did that pock back up as fter a years long hiatus
huh?
Is this show great or alright?
Great!
I concur with the man above me, it is a marvelous show. Great animation, actual longterm character development, and complex characters that are usually well expanded upon.
Definetely great
@@idofx8722 yes, me think good too!
I like it my only problem is that season one has some episodes where I feel it loses plot focus but season 2 seems like it won't have that issue. Overall really enjoyable.
I really wanted to pick this show up, but that OVA ruined me.
Are there any decent alternatives to Crunchyroll? I don't want to give them my money.
Anime name
The Ancient Magus' Bride
Why did she say he smell rusty?
Fey do not like iron; saying he smells rusty is the fey way of saying he is incompatible.
This anime was amazing shame it didn’t get any more seasons
This scene is actually from the new season, episode 2 just aired a few days ago.
THis is a season 2 though lol
Yo the lizard just pulled a sharinga, wanted to be Sasuke wanted to try Katon flames 😅
