    Thanks for the video! Helps us keep our 4.7s alive. Mine just rolled over 401k miles without a rebuild.
    I couldn't find the Denso units you used, so I used AC Delco 217-2907 for a 2007 2.4L HHR. The resistance is about +1ohm (13.2 or so ohms vs 12.3 or so) vs my 2003 stock non-HO units. They're 12 holes just like your Densos, but I didn't have to mod the fuel rail because they didn't touch the valve covers.
    For anyone reading this, in my experience the mpg display is super optimistic now (600 miles of mixed driving) and shows 19-22 average. Realistic fuel economy is unchanged at about 17.8 combined. There is a cold idle + AC on idle issue where it gets confused and pulses the IAC erratically, then clears up. Happened after PCM reset mainly and now clearing up. There's definitely a low rpm torque bump, and a much smoother power delivery throughout the range. Full throttle I dont notice any bonus, but part throttle and especially super light throttle, totally worth the benefit. On my Dakota the replacement was more involved because had to remove alternator and move AC compressor, and bungee wires and heater hoses out of the way. Took about 3 hours going easy and cleaning up and painting the fuel rail.

  • @nausticaz6845
    @nausticaz6845 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Another way to reset the PCM is to disconnect both positive and negative terminals from the battery and touch them together for a couple of minutes. Basically the same as touching the positive to the chassis. We used to do that at at Dodge to clear the "Gas Cap" evap code.

      @@DownHillgamer id say out of all the mods i did to my 4.7, the ones that made the biggest difference in noticeable power were the HO cams and the injector swap. throttle body spacers and CAI are not going to do anything other than drain your bank account, unfortunately. same goes for a tuner. i noticed little difference over stock with a diablosport. the 2008+ intake manifold swap is also a good modification but theyre getting harder and harder to find and require an adapter for the stock throttle body.

      After further investigating, a bad connector was found at injector #3 causing the P0303 code. Now the code is satisfied but the idle remains rough and engine requires several rotations before starting when at full operating temp, does not happen with engine cold. This began after a mechanic worked on it and will take it back to discover problem and fix. 270K miles I guess it might be time for a new one. Thx for your feedback.

Already been to the salvage yard and picked up 12 (few extra just in case) of the Denso injectors out of some Malibus...side note..all of the Cobalts with the 2.2 Ecotec I checked out had a 4-hole injector. I also clipped off a wiring harness that I will modify to make testing and cleaning the injectors a little easier. great video and well described procedure, tried this mod for myself and did not work as intended.i have a 2005 dakota with a 4.7 and running the ngc pcm. stock fuel pressure is 58psi for my truck.using the denso part number and a donor fuel rail modified to allow rotation of injectors i set on my way with the install.i started with -8% on right bank and -2% on the left bank for long term fuel trims.once the injectors were swapped i performed a memory reset for adaptive to start a new learning process for the newly installed injectors.within 5 minutes checked fuel trims and found -26% and -19%,major difference in fuel flow and thought might be cause i was in idle cell and consuming fuel at idle.drove the truck for 2 days and rechecked the fuel trims and no change. pcm was trying to pull a very large amount of fuel away from these new injector.had p0300 show up randomly but not counting misfires when i was able to check.truck was running ok, no noticeable change in fuel economy or response.refilled fuel tank and set out again thought maybe it would get better.after about a half a tank of fuel truck set right bank to rich dtc.desided to switch back to stock injectors as my truck couldn't adjust to this injector.martin talks about cc rating at 3 bar(43psi) not sure of what kind of jump these injectors make in flow rate at 58psi as the 90$ i spent on used stuff was enough of a loss for me and i wasn't about to send the injectors out for flow testing.just figured i would share my experience. not sure if martin is running a jtec pcm as it runs at 49psi fuel pressure and this is why his outcome was better as the fuel rating would be a lot closer. just wanted to share my experience.great video tho, i have watched many other videos and will continue to watch.

      They go to 0 during acceleration, both long and short trims.
      My onboard mpg shows around 14.5 mpg compared with 11 mpg as it was before the injector replacement.
      I dont think I really save that much on mpg in real life, though.

    Thank you for posting this. I wish I stumbled upon it sooner. I'm in quite the conundrum. I have a 2000 Dodge Durango 4.7. Injector no 1 had an open circuit when when hot. Found that the coil would open up if when the engine was up at full operating temperature. I replaced the no 1 injector (due to budgetary restrictions i was not available to buy a full 8 pack). It vehicle worked great for a week and then the no 5 injector developed the same problem (verified that with a meter). I did quick job for a friend and as payment he got me a set of injectors and injector pigtails off Amazon (I know not the best by a long shot, but I did a small favor for him and couldn't justify asking for much in return). I replaced all 8 injectors and the vehicle ran rough and acted like it was overfueling. I work as a diesel mechanic (19 years experience with Cummins, Detroit, MB, Paccar & CAT diesel engines). My three coworker friends in the shop highly recommended that i replace my oxygen sensors (they've never been replaced in my 16 years of owning that vehicle). I plan on replacing the two (yes i counted) oxygen sensors with OEM Bosch before I rip the cheap Amazon injectors out. On the procedure for relearning the PCM you had mentioned it may need 50 cold starts. Does that mean one a day for 50 days or a couple in a day's period? I am aware that i will have to change the oil a couple of times to be on the safe side. Thank you in advance.

    Great video! I've already replaced the injectors on my old '02 Liberty Sport five or so years ago, so I've already got the process down. Back then I had used the Neon injectors for the upgrade, and I did notice an increase in power, but still rather poor fuel mileage of @15-16 in town and up to 23 on the highway.
    Just last month I had picked up an '02 Liberty Renegade for only $1000.00 with a blown transmission. What I had watched the video for was to find out what injectors that you had used to achieve those MPG and performance gains.

    Just finished this job, NOT AS EASY for me as for Martin. My injector connectors didn't cooperate in being removed. I broke a bunch of the tabs that hold it to the injector. Then the injectors themselves didn't want to come out of the holes. I finally pryed off the rail, and 3 injectors came off and stayed in head, fuel spilled everywhere. The fuel line came off super easy with the special tool he used. Put everything back together with no drama, but not all connectors on injectors made clicking sounds. Fired it up after 1st start up procedure, it took a little effort. Did a test drive, seemed better and smoother, even idles steadily at around 600 rpm. The tranny shifts seemed very hesitant, and during idle it seems like there is more sideways movement, idk why like a split second pause. Anyway, hoping for more mileage, dont notice any more power, but it is smoother. Let's see after the 50 cold starts, only have 3 down. Haha. Thanks Martin.

    Any suggestions what to do next? Thanks!
    I have a 2007 Liberty 3.7L V6, 117,000 miles. Owned it since 67,000 miles. It operated perfectly for the first 30,000 miles and then it started getting a #1 Cyl misfire code P0301. It also seldomly gets a #1 cyl fuel injector circuit open P0201. It must be a very mild fault as the misfire freeze frame data shows it always happens at less than 350 rpm and when cleared it comes back immediately at next startup, cold or hot. So it seems to only happen once on startup as its moving up to regular idle speed. The miss isnt noticeable when driving or idling. Its getting 15.5 mpg fuel mileage. Doesnt burn oil. Doesnt smoke. Has great power. I've changed plugs and coils but no difference. Cleaned air intake, air filter, and ran cleaner through system. I've cleaned and inspected the injector plug and all wires but no difference. Dry / wet compression test of #1, 3 and 5 cylinders all read good: 160 / 175 psi.
    I'm wondering if there's a mild wire defect for that injector, or just a flakey connection somewhere. Has anyone tried to use a new set of compatible gauge wires and run them to a place closer to the injector control? I can't see where the wires go though.
    I'm not sure if I should just live with this, or troubleshoot it more. I don’t care about the engine light as we don't have emission requirements. Now that I know the compression is good, I'm not so worried about it.

    • @thesetruths1404
      @thesetruths1404 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For my 2007 Liberty 90,000 miles was the Injector electrics. For some dumbass reason I didn't ohm the #1 Injector leads. When i eventually did, it ohmed at 148 instead of around 12.5. So that explains why I had low rpm misfires under 500rpm. Likely upon startups, bc it started and idles fine. Doesn't miss otherwise.
      Bought reman Denso 6-pack on ebay for $72. I'm just replacing that one Injector #1 bc I'm like that, so I'm gonna try to do that without having to remove anything but the #1 and #3 coils and fuel rail bolts on both sides. Maybe the air intake if necessary.

      Get a can or carb and choke cleaner and spray the intake butterfly as well as the intake idle air passage down and the idle will straighten out. Dirt and carbon will build up in those area's and it will choke the idle down till it starts to sputter and die but will run fine off idle. My 03 dakota seems to have the issue creep up about once a year and hosing things down and cleaning the butterfly off really helps. The last time I did it I used Seafoam and it seems to have lasted a little longer than just carb/intake cleaner did but the cost is a bit higher. I think it stays in there and cleans a little longer rather than just evaporating off and leaving crud behind.

    I finally completed this modification in my 2006 Jeep Commander (4.7) and it's night and day difference. Have a question, it takes a little longer for engine to start on start up and at idle the engine runs a little rough, but on the open road it just screams! It threw a code that the engine is running rich, I'm assuming all of this is due to the ECM still learning and like you mentioned in your video will take about 50 cold cranks for the engine to relearn? Thanks Martin, I don't believe I could have done with this without the help of your videos.

    Hey I appreciate your videos and the knowledge you share most of the time. But i wanna let you know that i dont think you are actually getting the milage stated. The computer thinks that is what you are getting because it is decreasing the fuel output because the injector is putting out more fuel then the computer is accounting for. So that is why you feel more power because it uses more fuel. And the computer thinks its putting less which is why it tells you that you are getting better mpg as well. Unless that MPG is hand calculated at the pump after each fill up then that is what must be going on. Let me know what you think if i am missing something! Thanks.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alan Thanks for your input, You are most likely right about most of what you are saying. The overhead display is not reporting a accurate MPG, but the injectors that I installed are not using more fuel. The ECM will adjust the timing of the fuel injectors to deliver the proper amount of fuel by shortening or lengthening the amount of time the injector stays open. The 12 hole injectors have a better stray pattern for better atomization which in return should give better performance, MPG, better idle and throttle responce.

    • @Danielprokopij
      @Danielprokopij 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      martinbuilt ok that is understandable so have you taken any mpg readings during fill up to calculate your real mpg? I would be curious to know what you get considering i see how well maintained your jeep is. I just got a 2004 4.7 h.o that needs a lot of maintenance items to get it up to par and i see around 12 mpg for my first couple tanks.

      Just my findings! NEVER,NEVER,NEVER top off your fuel tank by putting more fuel in after it clicks off. Try to fill up when your going to drive far enough to use at least 1 gallon of fuel. If you put too much gas in your tank (especially in warm climate) your gas will expand and can saturate your EVAC system. (very expensive) and I do not know if you can dry it back out without replacing it. Also be sure your gas cap is properly put back on of course!

    Hi Martin,
    Thanks for the video on injectors install. Please do one on transmission ISS and OSS, and for the Line Pressure Sensor for 99-04 Dodge Jeep. And one as well for the ABS Sensors for the same 99-04 if you did already then send the link. That would be greatly appreciated.

    still recommend the Denso 12582704 as the best injectors you tried? looks like had a few to try out. $450 is a good nut, want to make sure they are still working out well. AND AGAIN, THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS. ROCK STAR

      Yes I'm still running them but I wouldn't spend 450 for them. Find factory rebuilt ones or get them from your local salvage yard.

    Hello Martin thanks again for these helpful videos I put in the 12 hole injectors in my Dodge Dakota. My fuel trims at idle are around -20 or so give or take. I don’t know if these injectors have something to do with it it’s on both banks. When I put the vehicle under load the trims even out. I was curious if you might’ve had this happen when you installed them I did do a quick learn. Thanks!

    Great explained! I have a loud ticking noise from my 4.7, I think it could be the injectors. Greetings from Denmark!

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure it's not the latch Adjusters (lifters) that are making all the noise very common with the 4.7. And that is something that you really want to fix this soon as possible. If I lash adjuster should collapse it will cause the rocker arm to come out and can do quite a bit of damage to the cylinder head and camshaft.

      @@martinbuilt I have replaced all the lifters with brand new ones. What about the timing chain tensioner? The car has 300.000 miles on it :-) thanks for reply!

      The average lifespan of timing chain and tensioners is a 150 thousand miles sounds like you're overdue ..lol

    Awesome information, I have a 4.7l 2006 Jeep Commander and looking for better HP & MPG. Can you tell a big difference after installing the Denso injectors? If so, would be interested in knowing the results.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm very happy with them. They are better then the Bosch 280155894 by .3 to .7 MPG and alot better then the stock ones.

    My jeep GC 4.7 HO 2002 160000km loses pressure in the fuel system, I have already changed the fuel filter and I think there may be a leak on one or more injectors (it smells like fuel).....
    Does the 4.7 HO need special injectors? Which ones do you recommend? Well hello from France, fortunately you are here in the US to show us how to repair our machines!

    So, in your experience, which ones are the best overall match, without the computer getting funky, or setting a CEL?
    Would you (which would you) recommend for non-modified 4.7's..? Or would adding the HO cam's/Intake/heads work better,.. with which injector?
    I'm looking to improve the injectors in both my '00 4.7 (vin N) Durango SLT 4X4 , 231 Xfer case, 545-RFE , 3:55 gears, as well as those in my latest project, a '02 WJ Limited 247 Xfer case, 545-RFE and 3:73's..which may end up with a 242 HD Xfer case..

      I would go with the Bosch 280156161, they will work with both stock and modified engines.
