It was this video that helped me decide to buy the much cheaper Harbor Freight tool and modify it (per this video) to use one of my dozens of Dewalt batteries.
I did this modification on a new Bauer oscillating tool. The battery fit perfectly...
It ran it for maybe a second, the handle got warm, then nothing,
Now I'm stuck with a useless oscillating tool that I can't return. it won't even run on a bauer battery, it's fried.
Beware people. This modification doesn't work anymore.

I bought a Bauer blower today and tried it.. Cut off the tab and was a bit hard to keep battery making contact. I found that filing down the upper most part of the blower case where it rubs against the battery helps (I used the edge of my 3 inch cut off tool).. also rocking the battery left to right when inserting the battery helps. Think we got something here. Got an open box at Harbor Freight to boot, so my cost is $44 plus tax...not bad..Beats $150 for a Dewalt.

I've wondered if the EU might do something about this. They took on the standardization of the USB interface. And we in the US benefit, but the mindless proliferation of power tool battery types continues. It is totally cool that DeWalt batteries can work in a Bauer tool. I wonder if the opposite is true. There is one caveat to this stuff. Lithium battery packs have all sorts of stuff to keep them from bursting into fire. Even minor messing about with the packs might have some unintended consequences.

I trimmed the plastic to help the battery fit better. Just 1 mm on each side. My blower did not work after I got the battery to fit. The fan would just move momentarily, for a split second. I opened it up, removed the speed control, and wired for all or nothing. The power switch still works.

Bauer must have made a change to the blowers to prevent using other batteries. I just bought one and the Dewalt battery won't power it, even after dremeling the blower to allow the battery to fit. The blower works fine on a Bauer battery, so I know it's not a faulty tool. Hopefully it's something that can be resolved by a adding a resistor to the tool, but I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet.

Something definitely changed. This mod doesn't work on the one I bought May 2022. You need the resistor. Shown in Justin Benz's video with the Bauer light. It can be made to work by taking the "sense" wire, which is blue, adding a 10K ohm resistor and attaching to the negative post. I also cut a lot of material from the rear of the blower to get the battery to fully seat and click into place. A lot more work than I was expecting, but not too bad, as the plastic cuts easily.
BTW, the way Justin Benz speaks in his video, makes it sound like you have the option to keep the "sense" wire in the same location, which doesn't work. Just follow what he did exactly.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

I just tried it on my DeWalt impact gun, no it doesn't click in all the way. Looks like you can if you want to do these modifications to your DeWalt tools. you'll have to cut that little tab on the Bauer battery and remove about 3/8" on both sides of the body of the DeWalt gun then it will slide in deeper so the release tab can click into place. But since I already have both Bauer and DeWalt batteries and charger, I'm not willing to do that experiment, only because the DeWalt battery in the DeWalt tools won't sit in properly after those modifications.

      Hi,all..
If you want to be the only guy in town that uses Dewalt batteries on his Bauer drill with no adapter
      please read on...
I had to trim off a couple small blocker tabs on each side track on the tool and also had to trim a tiny bit off
the drill itself at the front where the battery goes so the Dewalt batteries will latch in securely.
The Dewalt temp sensor (Thermistor) in the battery is 10K ohms at room temp and is connected between the b+ terminal and the 2nd terminal next to b+ inside the Dewalt battery..
The Bauer temp sensor is between B- and the same 2nd terminal from the B+ terminal inside their battery and is also around 10K ohms at room temp.
I easily modified my Bauer drill for the Dewalt battery to slide right in and lock in place but
to make it work you have to have the 10K resistor between B- and the 2nd pin from B+ on the Bauer tool.
I opened the tool and removed the 2nd wire next to the B+ terminal and put a 10K resistor between that wire
and the B- terminal. (Don't reconnect anything to the 2nd terminal you removed the wire from)
This will disconnect the Dewalt sensor as its not compatible with the Bauer tools and replaces the Bauer sensor
with the resistor too so either battery will work.
      .
(This will satisfy the Bauer tools thermal protection input and let it use the Dewalt Batteries.)
      please

There’s literally just one tab to hack off on the back of the Bauer tool. If you lay both tools flat with their battery compartment pointed up, look on the Bauer tool, youll see a little square piece of plastic pointed up towards ceiling, that same piece ain’t on the Dewalt, meaning hack it off and you’re done. Not sure what the heck you’re doing there but completely unnecessary… Lol

It won't work unless you open up the fan and bypass the circuit board for the ground

20v DC is 20v DC. I would be more interested if Dewalt tools can be powered by much cheaper Hobo Freight battreeess.

What makes you think that would not work? DeWalt tools don't have the little piece of plastic so the Bauer battery slips in just like the DeWalt unit. Come on, if one works on the other and fits it will the other way around too. The nice part is you don't have to try that to figure it out!

from my experience dewalt batteries are superior to all other rechargable batteries. last longer, take a charge for many more years, don't mind sitting around. I have converted all kinds of things to run on dewalt batteries for just that reason.

DeWalt batteries work fine in Bauer tools, try it yourself. Why do you assume someone is lying? That is always the first thing a liar accuses others of because they do it so much they think others are just as twisted. You know, like Christians who sin so often they have to confess or an idiot who just always lies to everyone like Traitor Trump

In my first 2 years of being a carpenter I've gone through 2 chargers and 5 batteries from DeWalt. At least the cordless drill still works... But it's the old style they know longer make chargers and batteries for.

I have had three DeWalt tools fail. I have 9 now. My Bauers are not as old but get hard daily use. So far none of the Bauers have broken. The DeWalt batteries have all been replaced with much better, far cheaper aftermarket batteries from Amazon but all the Bauer batteries work fine.
It would be nice to hear more from professionals speaking from personal experience than people who know nothing about power tools or electronics to contribute.
