Sheikh i have never commented on your libary chats, formally YQ gems. Today I've done this solely to request one thing: do not stop your presence on social media platforms (Facebook and TH-cam) as they are highly beneficial to students of knowledge like me. Literally you taught me so much and I thank you for it. Essentially your disapperance stops our random heartly prayers for you every time your articles and videos enlighten us( both for starters and advanced students of knowledge)

That's so true there is a huge refutation culture in our Muslims. Sheikh Yasir gets a lot of refutation because once upon a time he was a Salafi and when he realised that the movement is to harsh and black and white he left. Furthermore it tends to be people like Abu Mussab Wajdi akkari, Sheikh Assem Al Hakeem etc etc. They live in Saudi yet dont critize unislamic acts of leaders people like Yasir Qadhi, Abdur Raheem Green and Zakir Naik speak their mind and tell the truth. Yasir Qadhi condemned khashogi killing and Zakir Naik war in Yemen. May Allah blessings these great men and guide Madhakalis.

    Dear sheikh Dr Yasir Qadhi
This session of ur ‘s made me really sad and the background in which it’s given is heart breaking. I’m one of those silent beneficiaries since 5-6 years who learnt a lot from ur seera , lectures, khutbas etc. I may not be agreeing with everything whatever u say but I can say one thing that u never spread hatred or refutation for any one among ur listeners.
I have one thing to say , having 100 and 1000 of followers admirers and student on social media you shud not be deciding to quit this plate-form on ur own , leaving ur audience stranded in disappointment.
Often ly I go thru social media comments section n note that foul mouthed ppl are not sparing scholars, women , kids, ulema , sahaba, prophets and even criticizing on God As well . ( Ma’az Allah). Please ignore them as u said urself and continue to spread positivity and share knowledge with us. May Allah preserve u and keep u and ur family safe and healthy and bless us to be benefitted by ur extensive knowledge via social media. Please try to stay away from controversies as much as u can strategically. 😊

The tacit understanding in your knowledge on a myriad of topics is exactly what we need to galvanize others within the community to push us forward in our learning about the quran; the history of the peoples who practice/d it; and, how it shaped the paradigms of the people in their day-to-day. So, please don't go. But, if you must, always leave them wanting more.

Jazakallah khair Dr Qadhi for this very eye opening video on history and its ups and downs with many genuine and humble scholars and the trials they had to go through in the name of politics, jealousy, and false accusations. Also, jazakallah khair for discussing how to behave when being falsely accused and attacked. Please don't leave the social media for some lunatics! Rabul Alameen knows your intention so please continue for the benefit of the ummah. You have increased our knowledge and we wait for your videos to be released. As you said in this lecture be silent and continue with your work. In shaa Allah your silence will be an answer to all their allegations, May Rabul Alameen guide them ( all your critics) and make them do some real good work for the ummah. May Rabul Alameen keep you in HIS protection and care!

The story of Imam Bukhari and Yahya Ath-Thuhli
In the early part of the 3rd century there were two Imams, both named Abu Abdullah Muhammad and equally they were scholars of Hadith. One is known as Imam Al-Bukhari and the other is Imam Ath-Thuhli. While both of these scholars are known for their virtue and service to the Sunnah, there were some differences between these two contemporary Imams that created some conflict and confusion in Naysabur.
As soon as Imam Al-Bukhari arrived in Naysabur Muhammad ibn Yahya Ath-Thuhli advised his students to sit and learn hadith from him. He said, “Go and learn from this pious man” . Consequently, his students took his advice and began to learn Hadith from Imam Bukhari. As a result of this Imam Ath-Thuhli’s Hadith study circles began to reduce in numbers, so, he became jealous and began to speak ill of Imam Al-Bukhari.
Due to the existing jealously of Imam Al-Bukhari there were some rumors flown around about his belief that the pronunciation of the Quran was created. Once this gossip spread Imam Al-Bukhari was tested about this belief in his sittings. Once a student came to Imam Al-Bukhari’s gathering stood up and said, “ Abu Abdullah, what is your stance about the pronunciation of the Quran? Is it created or not?” Imam Al-Bukhari simply ignored this man, but he repeated his question at least three times. After his third request for an answer Imam Al-Bukhari said, “ The Quran is the speech of Allah and it isn’t created, the actions of the slave are created and to test people with this issue is an innovation.”
The questioner dissatisfied with Imam Al-Bukhari’s answer provoked discord and controversy among the people and thus some people abandoned Imam Al-Bukhari. Imam Al-Bukhari was patient and he remained in his house worshipping Allah. That frustrated group of people insisted Imam Al-Bukhari wasn’t serious. Therefore, in another occasion Imam Al-Bukhari was asked, “ Is the pronunciation of the Quran created?” He replied, “ Each and every action of the slave is created.” After this response they took a decision and declared Imam Al-Bukhari as being misguided and some considered him an apostate. They ordered Imam Al-Bukhari to recant from his speech and position. They told Imam Al-Bukhari that if he recanted they would rejoin his classes again. Being firm in his belief and fearing none but Allah, Imam Al-Bukhari said, “ I will not withdraw from this view until you can produce proof stronger than the one I have.” Imam Yahya ibn Sa’eed Al-Qattan was present at this incident and said, “I was amazed at Imam Al-Bukhari’s unwavering belief under that pressure."
As the days passed there was a funeral prayer for Abu Uthman Sa’eed ibn Marwan. Imam Al-Bukhari and Imam Ath-Thuhli both attended. After the Janaza people began to ask Imam Ath-Thuli questions about the names and Kunyas of hadith narrators and even some asked him questions about Illal Hadith, this didn’t bother Imam Al-Bukhari one bit.Imam Al-Bukhari walked swiftly right pass Imam Ath-Thuhli not paying him any attention.
The campaigners of discord would go between these two Imams asking the same questions. During a class Imam Ath-Thuhli screamed,” whoever sits in Imam Al-Bukhari’s class isn’t welcome to sit in ours. Whoever says the pronunciation of the Quran is created must leave.” Following those words Imam Al-Bukhar’s student; Imam Muslim stood up and walked out of the class.
The turmoil for Imam Al-Bukhari and his students began to grow more intense. One day Muhammad ibn Shathil went to Imam Al-Bukhari complaining about the situation seeking a solution. He said, “ How can we fix this problem between you two? Everyone who sits and learns from you is driven away from his classes.” Imam Al-Bukhari said: “ Look at how Muhammad ibn Yahya has become afflicted with jealously over knowledge! Knowledge is a provision of Allah. He gives it to whoever He wills.” “This problem you’re busying yourself with is a contentious issue . I saw the way Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal dealt with it, so I’ve decided to not talk about it.”
The people’s desires were unfulfilled, so they headed to Imam Al-Bukhari’ house and assembled there outside waiting for him. Imam Ath-Thuhli joined the crowd at Imam Al-Bukhari’s house and said, “ Don’t ask him anything about the speech, because if he answers different than mine there will be some problems between us. For that reason, every Haruri, Rafidhi, Jahmi and Murji in Khurasan will take malicious pleasure in the mishap between us.”
After three days the massive crowd reached high numbers until some of them sat on the roof of his house. When Imam Bukhari came out they asked him about the pronunciation of the Quran, He replied:” Our actions are created and our speech is part of our actions.” Immediately after that response people said: “ He said the words of the Quran are created.” While some people said: “ He didn’t say that.” Eventually the crowd dispersed.

I don't usually comment on youtube videos and I saw it right now. I want you to know that you are one of my favorite shaykhs.
I know my words won't make a difference. But in a society where everyone is either completely liberal or strict to the extent that they go to the extremes that I even forgot what my Deen was and often felt repelled. But your lectures, your series of seerah, on the lives of the sahaba, your YQ Gems classes, al of these benefitted me daily. Maybe I am not the best, but at least I am firm and convinced that I will never leave Islam willingly In Sha Allah. I don't know if you will keep this channel because in that case it would've been better because I could've revised through and again viewed the previous lectures of yours that I missed.
Hearing that this very shaykh who brought me back to the right path is leaving from public media, who will I listen to? Whose lectures will give me that peace of mind again? If my words made any difference, I would have begged you to stay on public platforms. But I respect your decision and pray that Allah might bless you.
And I want you to know that I will In Sha Allah always be grateful for your lectures. You truly are a gem, shaykh, no doubt. Thank you for all those good memories and for convincing me about staying firm in Islam again.

My dearest shaikh yq. My life without your lectures will be incomplete. I do wish that you can carry on benefiting the masses but I do know that this work must be affecting your family time. I hope the decision to go away from public eye is not because of the videos from non Muslims (And some Muslims) who love to twist things and blow things out of proportion. If that is the reason then I would humbly request that you reconsider. The immense good that people get from your talks should not be stopped due to such people.

Don't leave sheikh. Unless your launching your own website, then completely understood.
Many have benefited from your lectures despite the fact that there are a few that disagree with your opinions viciously.
Those few can and will gain a larger audience ,if there is no one to present the alternative (which in most circumstances make more sense to a rational being).
We need your presence. We need an academic to present the alternative that in most circumstances is either wilfully ignored or washed down to appear as a weak second.

    Assalamu alaikum Sheikh,
Alhamdu lillah excellent talk.i just want to say that don't get disheartened by the critics of yours,we all love you for the sake of Allah and inshallah you gonna remain an academic progressive sincere voice for Muslims.
I am listening to you for long time and I have seen changes in your toughts and ideas just as I have changed mine over these years(probably many others).
It's always informative and new paradigm to look at things.
May Allah reward you for all your efforts.
You won't believe but the situation in Muslim countries is much worse than what it's there in non Muslim countries.
So keep doing the good work for the sake of Allah and don't worry about the critics.
You will be in our prayers and prayers of so many who may not even comment here.

I'm a darn follower of Sufi Path. I've ended loving your recent wisdom and views even though I had to dislike your views 15+ years back so much! I can't imagine how opposing I was and how much pain it caused when you followed strict sectarianism. Wallah, it damages the very Ummah.
Shaykh, you have a long long way to go. You are gifted with knowledge in early life.

Brother Yasir, did I hear you mention that you are planning to leave the public domain soon? If this is true, please make duaa and reconsider. Sincerely, I do not know of any scholar who delivers such insightful and beneficial lectures the way you do. I do not intend to make you feel proud but where else would we get these kind of lectures from? We are blessed in North America to have some amazing scholars but you Bro. Yasir are different. Your style is different, your rigorous academic details that you include are second to none and most importantly, even though Allah sees the heart, the sign of sincerity, doing it all for the sake of Allah and not for any worldly gain or popularity is written all over you.
Been following you since the mid 2000s and you are such a blessing to us Muslims of today. Please reconsider withdrawing from the public eye, May Almighty Allah continue to guide and protect you and your family. May He continue to bless you with ilm and sincerity. Ya sheikh I feel that defending one's position against no sense nosense is rather draining. If they had any substance, it would have been a learning experience and worth discussing. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciate this video, it does seem to drain you spiritually.
Taking short breaks from the Internet does wonders for us. You need not defend yourself when you are truthful and sincere. Patience is highly priced and valued in Islam maybe because most often than not the circumstances turn out to be hopeless and we have no other option other than showing patience.
Sheikh, my sincerest advice regarding this matter is, defend sincerely, what you know to be the deen of Allah and Allah would surely defend you and guide you. May Allah protect you and all our ulamas, our beacons of light in the darkness and deception of these end times. ameen.

00:16 📜 Historical context of refutations and counter-refutations
Refutations and counter-refutations are common across history, not just in religion but in various social groups and enterprises.
Critiquing and defending beliefs are intrinsic to human interaction, especially regarding religious beliefs.
Religious texts and traditions, like the Quran and Sunnah, emphasize advising and correcting deviations.
02:52 🛡 Role of religion in refutations and corrections
Religion plays a significant role in refuting and correcting misguidance, as demonstrated in historical incidents.
The involvement of religious scholars in refutations highlights the importance of intellectual discourse within religious communities.
Religious history showcases instances of societal and governmental involvement in refutations and corrections.
05:28 💼 Challenges in transitioning from theory to reality
Transitioning from theoretical understanding to practical application poses challenges in refutation cultures.
Individuals tend to judge based on their own paradigm, leading to subjective interpretations and reactions.
Refutation culture often reinforces existing beliefs and paradigms, limiting its effectiveness in promoting intellectual growth.
10:52 🧠 Importance of learning from historical examples
Studying historical incidents of refutations provides valuable lessons for understanding contemporary discourse.
Historical refutations illustrate the complex dynamics between religious authority, societal norms, and governmental power.
Examining historical debates helps discern the nuances of theological disagreements and their impact on religious communities.
18:20 📜 Imam al-Bukhari's Trial and Social Drama
Imam al-Bukhari's trial illustrates the societal pressures and consequences of social drama.
Mass confusion and misinterpretation of ambiguous statements led to slanders and innuendos.
The development of theology over generations reflects the evolution of thought and interpretation.
24:09 ⚔ Consequences of Fomenting Hatred
Continuous preaching of hatred can lead to tragic outcomes, including harm and even death of scholars.
Examples of scholars like Ibn Furak and Imam al-Nasai demonstrate the dangers of spreading false accusations and inciting violence.
Hatred fueled by social and theological differences can escalate to violence with devastating consequences.
34:17 🏛 Legal Intervention and its Impact
Ibn Mujahid's accusation of heresy against adversaries demonstrates the use of legal means to address theological disputes.
Legal actions, although controversial, can sometimes bring about standardization and codification of religious practices.
The involvement of the state in religious matters can have both positive and negative consequences, shaping the trajectory of religious scholarship.
36:21 📜 Ibn Mujahid and Ibn Mukhel Inquisitions
Ibn Mujahid and Ibn Mukhel invoked precedence in their inquisitions.
Ibn Mukhel ordered Ibn Miksam to recant, leading to his public apology and private continuation of his beliefs.
Ibn Shanna Booth refused to recant, leading to torture and a curse against his persecutors.
40:35 📚 The Mehnah of Ibn Aqil
Ibn Aqil, a prominent Hanbali scholar, faced social pressure and refutation for his diverse scholarly interests.
He was forced into a public trial and forced to recant his views to avoid persecution.
Despite his recantation, Ibn Aqil's legacy endured, highlighting the limitations of refutations in the long run.
47:14 🧠 Lessons Learned from History
Refutations rarely result in meaningful change of beliefs.
Refutations do not determine long-term winners; sincerity and genuine scholarship prevail over time.
Spending a lifetime in refutation rarely leads to a lasting legacy in the scholarly community.
53:03 🔄 Psychological and Sociological Functions of Refutations
Refutations help maintain boundaries within social groups by negating others and affirming one's own values.
The psychological and sociological function of refutations is more about self-affirmation than genuine critique.
Understanding the role of refutations can provide insights into group dynamics and identity formation.
54:13 💡 Understanding the Role of Refutations
Refutations often serve to validate one's own position rather than genuinely engage with opposing views.
Quality products or ideas do not need constant refutation to prove their worth.
Concentrating on positive output and productivity is more fruitful than engaging in continuous refutations.
57:14 🔍 Advice on Handling Refutations
Focus on producing substantive content rather than being reactive to criticisms.
Refute ideas, not individuals, and maintain objectivity to avoid becoming consumed by the refutation culture.
Understand the primary purpose of refutations is to reinforce group cohesion rather than necessarily convince opponents.

Social media has not done anything significantly good in comparison to amount of fitna it creates. What little good it may bring to an individual is not worth the cost others far away are paying for it. Thousands have lost lives and livelihoods and their futures facilitated by social media (e.g. Muslims in India, Burma, Sri Lanka). You just have to look at the world we live in? Every corner is suffering and social media is playing a huge role in it. Good to hear Dr. YQ is leading by example.

I suffer that our spiritual family is so easily troubled by differences of opinion. While I respect those who are wise and learned, I also know that I am answerable to God for the choices I make. The Quran is very clear that I have no refuge in using a other person's beliefs or knowledge to excuse my choices and my behavior. As Educated as this and other speakers are in sharing their views in the end I am naked before God and receive His Judgement based on my individual choices.

Assalamu ‘alaykum, I agree that refutation rarely changes the minds of the opposition, but it does serve to sway those on the fence who are the majority, and thereby recruit more followers to your own “side”. I suspect that’s the main intention of several, present day, full-time refuters. I don’t think they even care about the souls of their opponents, they only want to make a name for themselves.
