Los Diablitos de Oaxaca Photography and Film by Juan Escobedo

La Danza de Los Diablos arrived in Mexico by the Africans during the transatlantic slave trade. It was danced as a protest against the hard labor. It evolved over time. The Afro-Mexicans from the coastal areas of Guerrero and Oaxaca have incorporated elements of Catholicism and Indigenous elements.
