Thanks, the vise grips sitting on the ground was a good tip. When my pulley went bad at 450 hrs. the nut was missing. So I defiantly will be using loctite. And I didn't think to check the other pulley's to see if they were going bad, when I called in the order. Or did I think to look online for a cheaper replacement pulley or order a spare.
Wait'll you have to clean the ground at the motor. Loads of fun! Hint.....PULL THE STARTER BEFORE YOU DO. Oh! The voage underneathto hold that part is a joy too!
Wow! I thought my ztr deck was dirty! All that debris will cause over heating of parts and belt slippage as well as belts coming off pulleys. Also, you couldn't clean it for the video so we can see what the parts look like?
Do you happen to have the part # to cross reference? I have a mower I got 2nd hand and need to change the tension idler pulley. Same thing happened with mine.
dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last few weeks :)
Dude when this guy said 18 years I thought he was gonna say since the last time he cleaned the damn thing
It would be a good idea to keep all the grass and leaves blown out from under the deck cover.
Yup, it was a leafy chit-show!!!! Now I blow the deck clear after each use.

I have this exact same mower! I’m in the middle of a full restoration on mine.
Keep deck blown out after use will save pulley life
My 2014 Turf Tracer just had the same thing happen today. I keep all of my mowers blown clean after each cut and it still failed. 339.0 hrs
Not to mention all that mess will eat up the belt.

dude, love all of the beer cans at start of video. lol
Mine did same thing I drill out welds and rivets, take out bearing replace bearing and add a bolt lockwasher nut for $2 each pulley.
Good video. Man that mower will last you several more years with less than 400 hours. By the way use grade 8 bolts for even more strength.
Great job
9/16 does not for my big dog mower 3/4 is too small can't seen find what size my bolt is ? Amy thoughts of how googled size can't find tks
Might be metric

I think this is it: Stens 280-874 Heavy-Duty Flat Idler"
@@Hubjeep thanks
vacuum that debris out of there! What does that rear idler pull your do?
clean that damn machine man
Blow that crap out.
Nice try ,but you've got to clean up the pulleys
Dont EVER EVER POWER WASH MOWERS use compressed air for cleaning

@Martin Eric Yea, been using instaflixxer for since november myself :D
I would clean the deck first
I agree. As I recall this was a last minute thing. 30 seconds with the leaf blower would have made the working conditions a lot nicer!!!!
* 9/16 socket, not 9/16 ratchet.
Shop vac.
Clippings.
HAHA, I think I had too many Miller Lite's that night! And YES, now I use the leaf blower to clean the deck before putting it away.
If you are going to make a video, at least vacuum the dead grass from your work area.
I should have blown the deck off outside!
What a mess
