    Carter always teaches the valuable lesson in his snare demos that I need way more practice than I do snares.

    Carter, every penny you spent on that sound room was 100% worth it! That is one of the best-sounding drumset recordings I've ever heard - and I've been listening to them for 60 years. (And you ain't no slouch, either!)

    Thanks for a great demo! I came across this snare yesterday while snare shopping for something a little different than my Ludwig BB. Went to look at the Supraphonic and the salesman also brought out the copper acro. I was pretty set on the LM402 but I instantly loved the acro copper after hearing it, so the acro came home with me.

    There's 1 reason that stands out (amongst a bunch of others) as to why I subbed and have completely changed how I practiced over the last year or so... Those super slick single stroke roles you manage to do! If you did a whole video on that I would prolly watch that on loop and in my sleep haha... Trying to get to where my fingers can sync up on the muscular level to be able to do that and not get all jumbled 😅

    1:17- 1:21 I really like how you compensate the missing 16th note on the hi-hat when you alternate hi-hat hits with singles and hitting a snare at the beat with your right hand! Basically you just throwing a double with your left hand on the hi-hat every time you hit snare with your right hand. That's so cool!

    Always setting the bar for feel, touch, and tuning!
    I need to watch your Copperphonic video again, to compare with this Acro Copper. I don't know that the Acro is on the same level, but it's pretty damn good! ;:-)
    The brass is about what I'd expect it to sound like. Very open, a bit of honk, plenty of bark cranked up. I agree the Copper is drier......Love the sound of both with the bandana. The Copper would be my pick for all around recording.

    As usual, dig it all. I just put a fiberskyn on a 60's pioneer and love the tone. They make those toms sound great. Both snares shine. Funny how over the last year I've become such a huge Ludwig fan from Yamaha. You're doing all their drums justice.

    I recently had a chance to demo the Acro Copper--needless to say it's a great drum. I'm a bit perplexed by the marketing strategy here--this drum is $100+ less than the Copperphonic, and even Carter says they're pretty close. Outside of the cosmetic differences, what does the extra $ get you?

    • @6x14ludwig1992
      @6x14ludwig1992 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just from what I can see, Acro Copper looks to have eight bow tie lugs and a polished finish. The raw copper was a Supra Phonic, which has ten imperial lugs. Acrolites are amazing, especially in this depth.
      EDIT: After some quick research, it looks like there may be some differences in shell thickness as well.

    Hi Carter! I’m sorry for going off topic, but im saving up to by a set of rides/crashes, one crash/ride and one ”main” ride. I wanna support my drum shop and they have this one beautiful 18” 30th crash ride, but it’s the only one they have in that series. They have a quite nice 21” signature ride but i’m not sure how i feel about the blend. My question is if you think, in general, if its wisest to wait until they have a set of 30th or to mix match with other series. I know it’s very subjective, but i’m interested in your opinion anyway.

    • @cartermclean
      @cartermclean  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I blend all the time. Don’t think about anything but THE SOUND. A series is just a name. Sound always wins in the end. Agop don’t make any bad cymbals. BUY IT.

    Carter, how do you have the snare-side head tuned in the first sample? Obviously the batter is very loose but it sounds like the resonant is really loose, too. I'm looking to get a similar sound out of my Ludwig 6.5 raw brass.

    Great playing(and tuning) Carter--these shells seem to be a bit thinner than a Ludwig BB or Copperphonic--1mm as opposed to 1.2mm. Is this correct? I'm guessing they have bit more low end(?). Glad they opted not to use rubber gaskets!

    Carter, when you tune the top of these snares that slack for some of these examples do you ever go to the snare side and take that down a bit too, or do you leave it "table top" tight to retain articulation? The snares (and everything) sound great, by the way. Thanks.
