Before i must say ,your possboy look fine ! Its importand that u dont feed continuosly sweet things how blueberries or grapes So many possums are crosseyed and have a big tail from 1daychicks and eggs (= cholesterol) or every single day to many sweet fruits. Happy time with your critter🌸🐽🌸
This is precious and I love his name. Any tips on how to stop them biting? Ours is sweet for the most part but he bites our hands and draws blood sometimes. I want my kids to be able to pet him and enjoy him but I'm scared they'll be bit.
Nicole Hunter Every one of their personalities is different, so I’m not sure how to prevent him from biting. Handle him as much as you can, and make sure he’s not super hungry when you do. Is he really biting you aggressively? Or is it a “play bite”? My Monkey will take my hand into his mouth and gently bite as a sign of affection. I think they do that with each other. So of course when he does that I let him and I don’t pull my hand out of his mouth otherwise it would scratch my skin. I also have a nest box in one of his cages, and when he’s in there sleeping I will put my hand in the nest box and just cuddle with him with my hand to get him used to my presence and smell. Good luck!
I wish I could get a harness on my non-releasable guy!! He's about 240g but around 5 months old (he was a failure to thrive runt) and I'd love for him to be able to get some outdoor time, but every time I've tried to put a harness on him it's been a DISASTER! I've tried a ferret harness and a bearded dragon harness. He just gets so scared and growls. I'm lucky he's not a biter. He's pretty tame and will approach and crawl all over me for food, but I just feel so bad that he can't get any outdoor time unless I can get this darn harness on him... Any advice?
Do you have a fenced yard? If so, you can let him out with close supervision. You can actually run faster than them if you have no issues. Or a neighbor or family member might have one you can use
I wish someone could tell me what harness to get my possum. He's blind after I got him well after being hit by a car on a frozen Road. I bought him a backpack but I really want him to be able to walk on a leash. He follows me but I don't want him getting injured
Only on video and in my heart. Monkey possum was successfully re-introduced into the wild and he has been a wild possum now for quite a while. I see many possums in my area, but it’s nearly impossible to positively identify him unless I was able to catch him and hold him. I trust he’s having a wonderful life. Cheers!
You and Monkey brought a lot of joy to my life. I also have an oppossum. She cant climb. Keeps falling. Maybe that is why she fell off her mom way too early.

Try a step-in leash or a well padded harness.
Do you still have Monkey???
