As a retired truck driver, locomotive engineer I never took over a set of power or drove a truck until I checked coolant level, oil level and sand level on locomotives.
Never trust Father Time, even if you drove it the day before always check under the hood. I reported for a pusher assignment in Pittsfield one Saturday during a heat wave daytime temperatures rarely below 95 to pick up an SD40-2 to push trains over the mountain from both sides but even though the dispatcher wanted us on the move east I insisted I check her over as she was shut down. Glad I did because it was drained of coolant, plain old water with and anti rust compound added to the cooling system. Fortunately we were opposit the yard office with a 100 foot line from the outside garden hose facet but the cooling system holds 450 gallons. We finally headed east 45 minutes later due to low water pressure. This was back in 1974 the engines were painted black without and air conditioning
    I miss the old days.

Man! A 4104 is my life goal right now! Great timing on the video. I'm almost 40, divorced ase certified auto tech. Built my life back up this last year after getting out of a toxic marriage... Live in a decent older TT but I'm working hard to be able to afford a 4104 I can convert to live in. Your videos give me hope that they can still be found and made reliable. ❤️

When you have to be stopped next to the highway and are working on the road side of the bus, I would suggest that you park another vehicle on the solid line and rumble strip right behind the bus to protect yourselves from errant and/or inattentive drivers and their vehicles.

This just shows G.M. made some darn good buses in its coach days. Those Detroit two strokes aren't so bad as many think they are. New seals, sulfur taken out of the fuel, the right injectors and the rack set up right, these engines do just fine. No smoke seen out of the tail pipe. Many other buses weren't built as good as the G.M. coaches and got a lot of ' rattles' in them, especially going over R.R. tracks.

Here we have a sweet 4104 that's been sittin in the grass for 20 years, and our intrepid Bus Grease Monkey crew here to rescue her and bring her back to BGM WORLD HEADQUARTERS. Will she make it back to BGMHQ under her own power? Will she hold air? Will she keep her cool under the withering oppressive heat? All these questions and MORE will be answered in this installment of Bus Grease Monkey! She's a beauty, can't wait to see you your magic on her, good luck.

FWIW - I spotted a former Greyhound Aerocoach silverside on way home yesterday. I estimate it being built around early 1940's just guessing. This one looks similar to the PD3751. The Chicago built Aerocoach was operated by Greyhound Lines, Cardinal Lines, and Gray Lines. This one appears to be either 33'ft or 35'ft long. It is sitting on N.W. corner lot of U.S.36 and C.R.725E approximately 5-miles east of Bainbridge, Indiana or 10-miles due west of Danville, IN. It's the road that leads into Heritage Lake. I got a couple of still photos of it and thought that would make somebody a nice RV conversion project. It's rough but looks intact.

I found a 57 not far from me, guy wants 10K for it. It is still a bus with seats. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I sure would love to have it, the 671 still runs, but he said the blower needs to be resealed, and one of the brake pods is bad, that is what he told me. Is 10K too much? It has a dent at the top of the roof at the back, so I would have to take out part of the inside to straighten it, at least one one window has bullet holes in it. The story he gave me was that it was used from 57 to 83, at which time a high school used it from 83 to 2014, and then a private owner purchased it, and that is who he got it from. I'd like to have a bigger bus, but this one keeps calling me, don't know what to do, 10K is a lot to give, when there is probably several thousand to get it roadworthy and safe, before I could even begin the conversion.
