Yup. Done this on engines too. Like you forget to put the gasket on the drain plug and you can do it the hard way, lose a bunch of oil and spatter it all over everything. Or you can stick a shop vac on the oil fill and do the gasket swap on the plug, lose no oil and no mess. Done this when I was in manufacturing on telehandlers we were building. Even the big hydro tanks this trick works. It was some what regular they wouldnt get the big o-ring on the suction line to the main hyd pump in correctly and it will leak like a sieve so we could swap that o-ring out losing only a gallon or so of hyd oil.
I learned so much from you guys. It makes me less scared about looking into a older bus. You guys have all kinds of knowledge dang. You and the crew our great teachers
Thinking back to when the only tools you had were carried in your bus, you’ve come a long way in only a few years. Shows what hard work and honest business practices can do. One comment: only saw one small fire extinguisher. I’d get a few big 20 lb ones. God forbid there is ever a fire on a bus, everything could go up incredibly fast.
Another awesome video! Great shop tour too! Bus Grease Monkey is the biggest asset to the bus community there is! His wealth of knowledge is amazing for him not being 80 years old! I bet he feels 80 after a day working on those beasts! Best wishes to you!
Pre-purchase inspections are an excellent tool thst that everyone should use. Safety is everyones responsibility. Obviously the previous owners were not practicing pre-trip inspections. Air tank full of water makes the case. Prevost are well built coaches. But unless maintenance is kept up there like every other used bus owned by novices. Surprised that it doesn't have an air dryer? Great video!
THis is what I suggested many, many, many times (video or in person - risks of video vs. in person duly noted). Great idea, great video, great effort Scott Tyler and crew!
@@BusGreaseMonkey how about on the cliff by the big hill, like donkey kong hanging off the tower swinging a 671 crank shaft, yelling at the busses to get up the hill.... and for smooth even brake pressure on the way down
Ive had to drain many air tanks emulsified with water, oil, and mold. I can still smell it days after if any got on ya. The worst was a gallon jug filled with that crap. I had removed the driveline to transport and waited for it to complete . Started draining prior the the removal of shaft lol. So greatfull for modern dryers.
I'm glad here in the Netherlands we've got pretty thorough inspection on our vehicles. Kinda scary how many busses in the US drive around with wonky brakes and all kinds of other defects.
I too have been watching for along time Here’s to you god bless and good fortune ! Not to mention it’s going to be legendary Already have a songs to go with you and facility 🎉
Scott, your tools make envious...😁 shop looks great, come a long way from those videos when you were building the quanza hut and doing the roof high up on the scissor lifts. You got it all running pretty smoothly now. Well done. Just got to stop the lightning from blowing you up somehow 😉
i always wondered on your 47 bus how many miles he thinks it has on it . but when they have been intra city bus how many miles are on them when greyhound or Trailways etc retire them
Did you ever get the new mechanic? You were looking for one. During the tour, I noticed that the floor is very clean considering how much work gets done here.
How are your Hercules power tools holding up I’m in the market for a impact and possibly a ratchet and I know if they can handle working on a bus it will do what I need just fine
@@BusGreaseMonkey 😱That would be a white knuckle ride!!! (I engage engine braking on high setting (3 out of 6 cylinders) while descending. I have a manufactured 'bus' /RV with Cummins L9 & Allison 3000MH.
The Delta Pilot needs his wing walkers. Funny how he prefers to travel by bus than by private airplane. Just can't get away from the burning of Jet Fuel (diesel). A mile of highway will get you no where, but a mile of runway will give you the world.
Driver man sure does turn his head around a lot while driving. If he keeps doing that, he'll definitely have a serious accident one day. Please tell him to break that habit; I certainly wouldn't want him to get injured and/or hurt someone.
Man I absolutely loved the vacuum trick for the studs. I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that. That’s why I watch-to learn from the best.
It’s a two person job

Maybe it's just me, but this is the first time to see a pre inspection on a purchase . Smart decision buy the customer and bus grease monkey.

You boys are do'n a great job. Hope all the electrical charging issues from storms are worked out. Keep up the good work.....
A bus doing what it's supposed to do, because that's what I call a hill climb, just awesome !!! 🇸🇪💚🇺🇸

Up that hill like a rocket sled on rails!
I marvel at how you remember where all the nuts and bolts go after it's all apart and after its been waiting for parts!

The Delta Airlines logo in the window is cool.

We have offered this for years.
@@BusGreaseMonkey Without his endless suggestions, where would you be ? :o
Better fuckin thank this guy ! ;p
what you need Scott, is to find a crafty welder and have him make up a monkey out of old bus parts- install it on that rock by your driveway entrance.
No we don’t need to draw any attention to our place. No signs and we are not open to the general public.

I think @bmxsno has the right idea. Put it at the top of the hill, visible from the stop light.
Scott, your workshop looks amazing. All the stuff you need to fix Detroit Diesels.

Just seen this bus on 195 gave him a thumbs up
Very nice shop
Great job Scott
Very nice work area scout, looks like you have just about everything you need for repairs…
Another successful reveille keep up the good work.
SOME OLD AIR HOSES didn't believe in draining the air tank
You guys can do a service and laundry at the same time, sweet!
I love your videos in lean alot from y'all. Keep up the great work 😊😊😊
That bus was so quick I checked to see if I had sped up the video playback.
Where did Tyler's bus and mill go?
Nice shop 😁
That's a pretty bus.
keep the clips coming
Why do busses not have water air separators like class 8 trucks do. I think that would be a good idea
Is that a P-38 drawing near the garden fertilizer machine?
With as such work as you guys do underneath the coaches; would a cutout/well in the floor be helpful or a detractor to helping you???
i always wondered on your 47 bus how many miles he thinks it has on it . but when they have been intra city bus how many miles are on them when greyhound or Trailways etc retire them
I think 2 million would be a good guess +- 1/2 million

Good Job
I am looking to buy a Provo I see that you work on them. Thank you.
Did you ever get the new mechanic? You were looking for one. During the tour, I noticed that the floor is very clean considering how much work gets done here.
No we decided to go a different direction with the business.
Curious. How available are parts for the different bus brands or do you just rebuild most? Enjoy watching. Thanks
Most parts are available but some things like airbags for Prevosts are back ordered like 12 weeks.
What happened to the mustang? I see it's not in the sop?what
WOULD BE NICE TO SEE WHAT EACH BUS INSIDES LOOK LIKE
Man for such a nice bus for it's age, you'd think they would have at least Rust proofed it.
a lot of buses have limped into to shop ,but driven out with there power restored.
How are your Hercules power tools holding up I’m in the market for a impact and possibly a ratchet and I know if they can handle working on a bus it will do what I need just fine
We abuse them daily. None have ever failed. Very tough tools and the price is great.
My understanding is that you descend a hill in the same gear that you climbed with or 1 lower.
That bus has tons of power you do not want to come down in the same gear you climbed because toy would be coming down at 95mph

Check them wiper blades
What happened to the lathe and CNC machine? You got me hooked on @The Farm Hands and @HankRuff. Now @FlatRiverBand! Instant subscription....
What no hydraulic pump table. I'm surprised
Do not like 1 handed drivers! Put 2 hands on the sterring wheel !-rant over
Mr.Grease(Scott) Didn’t you’ll have a mill& lathe
Tyler does
off the wall question lol, has anyone in town commented on the number of fancy busses that come thru now that you live there?
Never
@@BusGreaseMonkey alas! It's fun to see all the different ones that come thru :)
greyhound please

I hate to see his face when he has a blowout with one hand on the steering wheel
I often think the same but most haven't had proper driver training, IMHO.
I know its an inside joke on youtube about new truckers. But they guy driving the bus is wearing flip flops..
