My memory is a bit foggy, but if I recall it correctly, the Big Heartslayer was walking about outside the Cafe at this moment in time trying to find him, hence Dennis's state of agitation. Not that any amount of food could calm you down if you knew "He" was wandering about the Square with the intention of teaching you a lesson...
Even though Dennis brought it on himself for messing around with Kat, I couldn’t help but feel bad for him at this point of the show due to him being in the Heartslayer’s bad books. He couldn’t even eat in peace without worrying about Charlie’s wrath.
