    Was the meat still good? In my experience even in later rifle seasons the meat would be spoiled.

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Early seasons are easier for saving meat over night, thinner hide, late season you can lose them faster, the hide is thicker and holds the heat in and ball joints start and meat around esophagus goes bad fast. Early fall you can get all the meat the next morning, and yes they got all the meat

  • @walterbaker5114

    Really, 90 yards quartering to you with a breeze. Not a good choice. You were lucky to find the bull. At that distance, it takes a long time for the arrow to hit the bull - all it takes is one step - gut shot and never find the bull. YOU GOT LUCKY!!!!!

    • @TheMountainProject
      @TheMountainProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can always make better choices after the fact, bulls dead. Thanks for watching

    • @chadellis9247
      @chadellis9247 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, archery should not rely on that much luck. I hate that people think it's cool to just fling an arrow and hope.

    • @KC-7mm
      @KC-7mm 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Who is anyone to judge there isn’t a hunter in the woods that’s killed any amount of animals, that hasn’t pushed it a little and got lucky and who’s to say it was luck when you don’t know how much time the guy spends shooting doubt he would take a shot he didn’t think he could make.

    • @walterbaker5114
      @walterbaker5114 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KC-7mm If it was such a great shot why did it take the next day to find the bull!!! All I am saying is that it was a very long distance (for anyone) and that bull was in alarm mode, with the wind blowing, and one step is a gut shot (quartering to him only got one lung at best in this hunt). One lung rarely finds a bull or any animal. I have passed on shots at 16 yards when it was not broadside. Its not always about killing the animal every time, its about doing it humanely and that was very risky shot given all the variables.

    • @KC-7mm
      @KC-7mm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Walter Baker took the next day because it was dark and raining he did the right thing and backed out found the bull the next day story over,look I get what your saying and agree I personally I would never take a shot that far on any game I understand the risk but heat of the moment shit happens I feel like those who feel the need to rag on other hunters are just creating division amongst the hunting community everyone is so quick to judge others because it’s not what you would of done how bout we just try to stay positive and congratulate the guy on his success and move on

      Use it as a learning lesson my dude! No need to project your ideals on people living different lives, teach your boy that he’ll encounter situations like this and not to react in that way if you feel it’s important.

      And it wasn’t a neck shot. It looked in front of the shoulder. Bull probably died quick.
