Damn... You made this look so much easier than I was expecting. I thought I had to dig up all the dirt along the side of my house. I didn't realize I could just put landscape fabric down and build on top of that. Wicked!
Is there something you would recommend to put up against the vinyl wall of the house for a raised retaining wall type flower bed since it will be about 15 inches in dirt and will get water?
Only change I would make is planting the flowers first then putting the sheet in last. Cut a cross over the flowers and pull she down staple them around the roots.
Try to cut grass and mow before the mulch . It will give a better look and cleaner mulch . If your landscaping , customers like the cleaner look when your finishing , guaranteed!
Mulch near your foundation is not actually a good thing. It eventually attract termites. Best this is to leave At least 6 inch space and fill it with stone or some other barrier
You keep new plant level with the soil, add soil conditioner first and bit of space around plant, give plant a good soak in water before planting, tease roots out slightly to get them started.
Should have loosened up the root balls on those plants before planting them ..the roots won't spread properly and will grow in a circle pattern in the hole and will eventually choke the plants.
Ugh. I hate gardening with weed fabric. I'd rather mulch deeply and pull as they come up than get frustrated later trying to add more or different plants
I would never use weed mat. Then the soil can never be amended. I turn the sod upside down and put a thick layer of wood chips from the town(free) on top and reapply annually.
I must have had someone do this in my yard because about 8-10" underneath the weeds and clover there's disgusting old plastic everywhere. Anyone who does this belongs in jail, it looks terrible, terrible for the environment. Bad, masculine design

Great video. I watched a few and this is one of the better ones I’ve come across. Thank you
Great video! You didn't go too fast and explained everything so that I could understand. Thanks much!

Only works for 1-2years.
@@hpain6261 round up: the ultimate weed barrier.
Am zion from Ghana Africa ❤️🇬🇭 much love 💕
Great video, i have my first flower bed to build this weekend. Also im planting some hedges, so this video really came in handy. 🙏
Thanks for your info and timely needed video
Is there any update on what this area looks like now?
Knowledge is Power
Snapshot is a awesome weed and grass control thats safe for shrubs and trees..just a different alternative to using the weed mat.
Thanks for the tip!
Excellent I’m going to do now 😊
You could of save the sod to patch that rough area next to your bed. 😁
You should always cut the grass and weed wack next to the bed before mulching, because the grass clipping get into the newly fresh mulch bed
Spread Preen on it also

Great job!
Great video! What kind of boots and pants are those. If I’m doing this.. I gotta look the part. Lol
great video, now that it’s been a couple years would you have done anything differently? i plan to copy your project!

How’s the weed control holding up

I like to run a second edger line on the inside of the bed before using the spade edger at an angle
What'd this project cost not including tools?
So definitely other aspects of that lawn that probably should have been dealt with first lol. What was the point of the trench?
You guys are the best

What's the name of the fertilizer used?
Thanks for the video.
He sure do loves ryobi. You see I love EGO!!
Please what type of mulch did you use?
Weed barrier is for rocks, no need for that with mulch if you mulch right.
You need to do a nice edge now, so you can see it from far distance
Nicely done!
6 foot where?
think he meant 6 inches
How deep does the holes had to be for the flowers?

No fair you had an auger 😜 nah joking Great Video!!

Same. Weed fabric is my absolute nemesis. I’m ripping all of ours out right now, and it’s a gigantic pain.
I agree with you but it was worth it in this case instead of trying to remove all the sod.
Use cardboard
Seems like a lot of work. I'd hire someone to do all the dirty work for me.

Could have tried using cardboard rather than plastic to control weeds.
I wonder how much all of this cost.. 👁👄👁 it looks nice though.

Masculine design 🤣🤣
