I'm in a similar situation and need to purchase some USB 3.0 Powered HUB to connect more drives to my Plex server. One question. What about a power outage or a remote server restart? Do the drives connected to this USB 3.0 Hub start automatically, or do you have to press the power button after each power outage to supply power to the USB ports?
If I want to connect hard drives then do I need external power? Doesn't it work just by connecting the USB TP-Link UH720 to the laptop and hard drives to the TP-Link UH720?

It remembers which ones that is on and gives power to them.
Hi, I didn't find a longer USB - micro B conector cable, would it be any problem if I conect it to a USB 3.0 5 meters extender?

No it’s not hot swappable. It’s normal usb and usb drives. I think you need a dedicated nas for that

The tp link comes with external power plug that you need to power more than one external hard drive without external power
Do you have any idea if it can power 7 drives? I'm guessing 12v @4A = 48Watts and a drive uses about 5 watts? so technically it should be able to?
