I've been working in STEM/HiTech for around 40 years. Affirmative action has been a real hiring practice in every company I've worked for in that time... even in the 80s. The DEI folks have now gone completely mad with power. They call everyone but white males "under represented" but will not say what ideal representation would be. There is no scientific or logical basis for any of it even if you accept, which I don't, that diversity (their definition) is a useful goal. They keep subdividing the categories so that they can create more "under represented" groups such as all the different asian and pacific island regions. So this gives them carte blanche (lol) to discriminate against people that inhabit bodies that look like mine... in fact they constantly brag about how they have hired 100% from under represented groups which, again, are any people who do not appear to be white or male. Discrimination is discrimination and theirs IS institutional, brazen and supremacist. The workplace has become a sterile, fearful, place full of unknown pitfalls that can destroy a career with a word or some other unintended faux pas. I don't think anyone is benefitting from the current folly and all we get from this is a slowly degrading quality of life, increased anxiety, and a general malaise in which all products and services are decaying by every measurable metric. Why people are lining up to worship at this alter of nonsense is completely beyond me and the main reason I'm retiring before my time. I'd love to train new, young employees but they have zero humility and only want to find fault with older, experienced workers. Man... this is quite a rant. We were so close and making such good progress before the so-called "progressives" took us back to the stone age. So sad!

In these last few years I have heard complaints about how incredibly difficult it has become to hire new employees, it is not about finding people with the necessary academic preparation and experience, it is about the difficulty of filling the boxes of social justice, an executive He commented that he had to find a person to fill a position in the accounting department of his company, the problem is that it had to be an Asian woman, the personnel department found dozens of candidates, but only 6 were women and only two were Asian, one Korean and one Japanese, the human resources department recommended the Korean because they were a more underrepresented group.

During the first year of the pandemic, all of us teaching at my local university had to figure out how to teach remotely. This resulted in pretty much all of us having to take online courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science about how to do remote teaching...and there was this one staffer who insisted on doing a land declaration before every single session along the lines of "This land was STOLEN from the..."
Now, the thought that went through my head was "So, if it was stolen, is the university going to give it back? This is Canada, where you're not allowed to keep stolen property."...but I didn't say this aloud, because I love my job. But SOMEBODY did, and the end result was a land declaration that added something to the effect of "...but this isn't about giving the land back - this is about building something they could be proud of and visit."
I later asked a Mohawk friend of mine if this was as offensive as I thought it sounded, and his answer was "yes."

Instead of wasting time with gratuitous nonsense, how about investing some effort in the education of citizens to have a better understanding about the social and political factors throughout history that lead to conquest & colonization, understand it's impact both positive and negative and how it helped shape the world that we live in today...

I talked to my supervisor explaining that hiring someone of their color is as racist as not hiring someone due to color. To make alone story short we got more minorities from God only knows where. The biggest issue with a lot of 'woke' thinking is that it manipulates you into expecting the WORST of out people at first glance instead of letting the person SHOW you who they are through their own actions and character. It's more or less teaching people to be incredibly judgement (and dare I say bigoted) by promoting the idea that due to a person's factors, they are by default what you expect. It's essentially high school drama dragged into adulthood but the people who suffer the most from this are the people who actually GREW UP and got out of that mentality. Whenever I see a lot of the breakdowns trying to discuss this type of culture, the people still talk and act like they're in those highschool cliques that judge the nerds, the geeks, the ugly girls and so on and WANT to separate them from everyone else.
You can even see it when different people get along just fine, the so called 'woke' people are the first ones who have a fit because it disrupts their perfect sections where they get to dictate which table you get to sit at.

Very true. My very first contact with this movement was when I was asked my pronouns. I was like "you know? English pronouns?" because English is not my language and in mine we aren't obsessed with pronouns because my language is "genre polarized" already from the dawn of Latin and Greek so we don't have problems. I just told them "call me whatever you like to use -- I'm not picky and I don't get cross" because I already got used to get "names" since school and I really careless. But then when I tried to talk to people I usually had contact with online, they started to bug me saying that I need to use the proper "pronouns" and I was like "but dude, I was taught that English worked this way, what's the matter?" And then all them left me, just because of what I thought it was faux pas.
I knew faux pas could start wars, but I hadn't any idea until my friendlist emptied itself. I was labeled a bigot out of the blue and that's it. No more context. Fortunately a few remained, truer friends them all, who understood me and explained me about "the movement". I said "but that makes no sense, language is just a tool for communication, not for segreggation -- I don't even use slurs and I'm very polite", but they told me that it didn't matter. Once you were branded, it was like when in school a kid said you had cooties and then other kids shunned you like "forever". The same.
It really is like getting all those PTSD teens and giving them the power to call the shots while being hypocritical with real issues on the matter (like, why Joanne gets to get called off for believing in biology and why they aren't after Mindy Kalig after openly writing Daphne murdering a trans-girl rabidly with a pen on Episode 3 of Velma).
Ah... Just wanted to share a bit of my grievances... I'll never understood when this ident-hysteria and this woke-quisition emerged, but looking back in time is THE SAME as the first emergence of radical and supremacist groups in recent memory. They are acting IDENTICAL to what they try to fight apparently. They became their own enemy and can't see it over all the splattered make up to cover their insecurities. It's very saddening... but apparently I shouldn't pity them because they would torch me in a heart-beat just because I believe in the natural order of things... Just like in medieval times, when you didn't believe in miracles and they went after you 😮‍💨

You are correct in that it's like high school and they haven't matured, because they weren't taught how to. School has been dumbed down over the last few decades to make college more 'accessible' to the point where the only difference between HS and college is that they let you fvck in college, of course as long as it's consensual. My bi-sexual best friend and I were discussing this last week and he pointed out that our generation worked to get rid of labels and wanted everybody to be just seen as people. We knew that labels lead to segregation. It infuriates me when younger people see me, a 51 year old man and immediately label me as some sort of bigot. I can only reply, seriously?! You see a middle aged white guy with a pony tail and goatee and immediately jump to the conclusion of bigot, not hippie? We are the guys that voted for civil rights, support a woman's right to choose and voted for gay marriage. It's sickening. Thank you for saying this, Chato! As a white, middle-aged, artist/actor with an MFA, I am finding going back to college after 30 years as a working professional, a waste of time and loans. I went back to get my MFA to teach on the university level because I got married in my mid-40s and my wife didn't want me gone on the road 6-10 months of the year and wanted stability. Well, I was the most experienced person in my MFA class, and I am the ONLY one that could not get hired. I have adjuncted some, but after almost 300 applications since 2018, I cannot find a job and will never pay off my loans. I am told it is because I am in the arts and a white male in my 50's. That I will likely never get a position even with my vast experience. So, now I look for jobs that pay nothing, have serious health issues, and I am very fearful of the future.

You are spot on as always! I left full-time Further Education teaching 7 years ago just as this nonsense was getting out of hand. We had to produce Schemes Of Work, outlining our lessons for the year, in which we had to show how we were celebrating Diversity in every single lesson. My colleague, a Maths teacher, had his 145 page detailed plan rejected by his manager because it was decided that he had embedded Diversity in every lesson but not actively celebrated it in every lesson. We taught young adults from all over the world. During an anti-racism training session I was singled out for having said to a colleague privately that my Polish students were generally very good students, and were very focused and hard-working. This was deemed racist why? Because it was implying that eg. Somalii students were not! I could go on and work myself up, but I prefer now to laugh at these people as it's probably the only way we normal folk are going to survive. Thank you for your help in making this mad world bearable! Nice physics joke too :-)

The drive to be woke above all else always seemed pointless. When I was an Officer in the Navy, I had Sailors who joined just to obtain citizenship, and ones from families that have been fighting for America since the Revolutionary War. Men and women. Straight, gay, and everything else. I served alongside people from every race, creed, and walk of life.
And although some individuals didn't get along, on the whole, we were a family. As a white guy, I learned more about how to be a leader from my two Chief Petty Officers (a black man and a Hispanic woman) than anyone else I've ever known. My best Sailor, sharp as a tac and exceedingly motivated, was lesbian.
We didn't give a damn about anyone's background. They say there are no atheists in a foxhole. What a lot of people forget is that you will find your brothers and sisters there.
How is it that the US military has been doing inclusiveness better than all of the liberal institutions for damn near a century at this point? An organization typically believed to be staunchly conservative somehow manages to promote people based exclusively on capability, rather than blindly caring about emotions and the optics of having a perfectly demographically representative selection of people. It's almost like when you try to force diversity, you end up with complete garbage. And when you look for the people who are willing to try their hardest to succeed, you'll end up with a team that is not only capable, but diverse as well.

This has got to be the best video you have made to date. Maybe on the whole Internet when comes to wokeness. I see STEM was mentioned below. I’m a white male who found him self the head of IT at a catholic all girls school. 700 female students who could not have been nicer. About 35 female staffer, 25 of which of could not have not nicer. BUT that other 10 made the mistake of trying to stuff the woke stuff down my throat. I came from many years in the public system and learned the hard way. “The best job in the world is the one you don’t have to have.” It took me all of about one minute to point the front of my shoe at their back side (figuratively speaking) then we all started getting along just fine. STEM…… the school was bound and determined to turn 700 young women in to either rocket scientist or engineers. Wether they were cut out for it or not. Some did really well, and some still Facebook me now 12 years later. What happened to the school? It closed after 60 years the last 15 years mired in Woke. It’s now an empty lot. If an old dog like me can see what this is doing to Young White Males and it’s not good that alone should say something. Even Tim Pool of TH-cam addressed it personally. As I recall his comments, just dating a women was more work than should be required, fraught with the potential of nothing but grief. I see it in my own 26 year old college educated son. Most of the people he reports to are woman. Better not say the wrong thing there. Think I’m kidding? I once I had a nun the equivalent of a three star general in school environment. Ask me what I was doing. I explained I was going out to meet the postman to collect the school mail. She turned real serious in the face. Then she started to raise her voice. “ POSTMAN! DON’T YOU MEAN POSTPERSON! I got to admit for a few seconds wow did she have me on the ropes, eventually I got back to reality. I calmly told her “ Sister word on the street is you believe with all your heart in God the Farther. It would benefit all concerned if you go talk to him RIGHT NOW!” Worked there three more years, conversation must have gone my way.

"Math is racist" is old news. This week it's "Astrophysics and space are RACIST!" That's not even a joke. I'm sure we're not far from hearing that Mother Earth is actually trans.

Ahh yes space is racist. Heard that, and I knew exactly why they were shrieking about it, and yet I disagree and don’t care what they say anymore.

My favorite comment is the "pets" line. I know a few people in both sides of the aisle who would agree that certain folks treat them like this. First time I've heard it articulated in such a bullseye way. Sharing this with them for sure.
