I haven't spoken to my mother in three or four years because she is deeply entrenched in Trumpism and repeatedly tells me I'm going to burn in hell. I’ve chosen to ignore her. Just recently, she commented on one of my Facebook posts, accusing me of being possessed by demons and claiming I had scales covering my eyes, all because I shared a list of positive accomplishments by Governor Tim Walz.
It's shocking to witness someone react with such hostility to the idea that a Democratic governor improved infrastructure and education. This is what we’re dealing with now in the era of Trump cultism. It’s no longer just the challenges of religious fanaticism; now, these individuals are consumed by conspiracy theories, misinformation, and propaganda, leaving them perpetually angry and dissatisfied.
I set a firm boundary with my mother and stepfather, telling them I wouldn't maintain a relationship with them if they continued bringing up religion or their racist and bigoted views related to Trump. Despite this, my mother insisted she would never stop telling me I'm going to hell, so we haven’t spoken in years. Every six months or so, she tries to reconnect, but when I don't respond, she sends messages about how I'm destined for hell.
The saddest part is that I know I'm not alone. Religious indoctrination and the rise of Trumpism have torn apart thousands of families across America.
What was she like before trump? Has she always been this way?
i don't know your situation, but i am 49 years old and my mum hasn't changed in 35 years of trying.
@@AnnaOrlando-e7o sending you much love and good vibes, my friend. I wish I could get a group together where we could discuss this issue and vent 😂.
I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I have a similar situation with my sister 🫂
@@bittersweetdragon8463 I’m so sorry my friend. It sucks.
Dudley Doright and Snidely Whiplash.
Lol, if I met him, I would go out of my way to prononce the Z in Joseph Z as "Zed"... I'm sure Joseph Z(ed) wouldn't mind.
Same. I appreciate his place in helping me deconstruct, but since then he’s had so many bad takes I just stopped caring what he’s got to say.
I stopped listening to Dawkins about 10 years ago. He has lost his mind.
@@hemeoncn Richard Dawkins has fallen out of favor with some scientists, atheists, and liberal progressives due to his controversial statements and combative social media presence, as well as his remarks on transgender issues. While I personally do care about his harsh criticism of Islam that led to accusations of Islamophobia, I do hate his dismissive comments about feminist concerns.
But it’s just odd that Dawkins has alienated trans rights advocates by questioning the validity of transgender identities, supporting controversial figures like J.K. Rowling, and making statements perceived as mocking or undermining trans people.
I do still appreciate how public discourse has shifted towards more nuanced approaches to religion and greater emphasis on intersectionality, and how Dawkins' has a rigid focus on rationalism and science. However, he seems very out of touch with some contemporary progressive values and this is quite confusing and concerning.
