Oradea/ Nagyvárad/ Großwardein is a city in Romania, is the seat of Bihor County, Oradea is one of the most important economic, social and cultural centers in the western part of Romania. The city is located in the north-west of the country, nestled between hills on the Crișana plain, on the banks of the river Crișul Repede, that divides the city into almost equal halves.
Oradea is first mentioned in 1113, under the Latin name "Varadinum". In the 11th century King Ladislaus I of Hungary founded a bishopric settlement near the city of Oradea, the present Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea. The city flourished both economically and culturally during the middle ages as part of the Kingdom of Hungary.
The Ottomans laid siege to the city in 1598, however the siege failed. The city had been severely damaged by war, with only 114 houses left, of which only 21 had not been damaged. However, under the Habsburgs' reconstruction, in the 18th century, Oradea entered its second golden age.
After World War I, Oradea passed under Romanian administration, and became a part of the Kingdom of Romania under the Treaty of Trianon of 1920.

brutally underrated. one of the most beautiful mid-sized European cities; easily in the top 10 and probably in the top 3 in central and eastern Europe

@@walkandcamera compared to most Western European cities, there are fewer trafic jams here and the roads are in pretty good condition (i've only been twice and driven once, so i could be wrong). There is a culture of driving everywhere tho; i think this is sadly common everywhere but maybe 10,20% more accentuated in Romania (it feels like some people take the car to throw out the bin sometimes haha)

@@walkandcamera you haven't seen the construction site of the underground passage who blocked the circulation on a parallel road about 1km away? Since then the traffic is higher (a little bit)!
Wow! I liked that place. Beautiful architecture, big well-preserved roads, square places look spacious, flourish and in general, there's a mix of old and modern successfully.
I was already thinking of visiting Romania but only Bucharest, now I am thinking of visiting Oradea too.
Greeks love to visit Romania, and now I understand why!

oradea arata foarte bine in comparatie cu multe orase din tara... ca mai intotdeauna diferenta o constituie oamenii iar un rol important il joaca si arhitectura.
Vorbe mari , dar cam fara acoperire . Cei care gandesc asa de" adanc" , ar trebuii sa lase nasul mai jos , sa nu se impiedice .
Gourgeous city...simply stunning...yet like it are a lot of them in Poland and Czech Republic or Croatia...The only thing they need is a tell tale storry...well, Croatia has the filming of Games of Thrones in beautiful Dubrovnik...But Romania, well...Romania has Brasov with its Dracula's Castle...yes, Brasov RULES!!! And nobody can take that away!

Brah you forgot that before the 1945 Hungary didn't had Romania, but sience you got help to conqueror Romania, you deleted and forced half of the Romanian tradition to vanish, so ofcourse there was 95% if not 100% Hungarians and 0% Romanians because like Russia and Ukraine, Russia destroy everything traditional in Ukraine now lol. Oradea mi da nostalgia di casa specialmente dove ci sono i miei parenti in campagna, sono stato adottato a due anni da una famiglia rumena che vive in Italia dopo la guerra rivoluzionaria. Strano a dirsi un italiano che cresce in una famiglia rumena.

totul este decent. salariile in bihor nu sunt prea mari dar oradea sta mult mai bine decat media judetului. per total oradea e top 5-7 in romania, iar la unele capitole e chiar in varf.

What is Hungarian, smarty? Go to Oradea 1994 on TH-cam to see how collapsed it was. Romania has thousands of new districts now, new houses and flats of luxury. Usually compared to Europe, ours are at outskirts like in the United States. You have no idea, because when you come to Romania you only visit centre.. You live in Hungary, a poor country is yours!

It is nice downtown , but once you go to the outskirts and in the neighbourhoods you see the real Oradea. It is overrated. If you wanna see clean cities , go to Szeged, Gyor,Debrecen,Zagreb, Split, Brno, Praha, Ljubljana.
Yes... That's why I made the Rogerius video, to also show a 'real' neighbourhood. I do plan to film Szeged and Debrecen this summer.
you do realize that all those cities have that "bad side" no? There is no perfect city but Oradea is the best Romania has at this category. Literally, go to the outskirts of all those cities and you will find communist buildings
Gyor and Szeged are anything but clean. Every city has its own flaws but saying Oradea is not clean compared to Gyor Szeged or Debrecen is an overstatement. Plus comparing a mid size city to capitals such as Zagreb Prague and Ljubljana is like comparing apples with pears. My point, the cities you laid out are not any better when it comes to cleanliness.

In afara de centrul ăla unde sunt câteva cladiri, in stil baroc, un oraș modest tare... regret timpul pierdul, acest oras este promovat excesiv si nu este mare frumusete, mult mai frumos Sibiul
Centrul Oradiei este muuuult peste orice centru din orasele romanesti!Sibiul este un orasel modest tare ,noroc cu acoperisurile acelea interesante!Parcurile industriale ale Oradiei sunt mai smechere chiar decat alea din Cluj!Timisoara si Clujul sunt peste orice exista in Romania ,Brasovul vine foarte tare din urma ,pacat ca nu are un invatamant asa puternic ,Iasiul si Craiova sunt pe trei,Oradea,Sibiu mentiune!Dintre orasele mici, Blajul este perla Romaniei !

Ai răbdare că Timișoara o să se.dezvolte in comtinuare si peste 10 ani o să fie top.european!!Clujul este super smecher pe învățământ cu Babeșul si medicina , iar Brasovul top turism! Oradea vine tare pe turnantă la fel și surpriza maximă pentru mine.Craiova! Iașul din pacate nu este foarte bine poziționat din.punct de vedere turistic!Dar e bine să existe o concurență "feroce" între orașele românești, doar așa mai.apucam și noi să vedem România superbă așa cum merita și cum este de fapt!
