You need to watch Free bird at the Oakland Colosieum 1976.. It shows the talent of the band. This was several months before several band members were killed in a plane crash
WHAT THE HELL!? Most of the group died in a plane crash?!!? Thats crazy! I was just getting to know their music and to hear that is crushing! Thanks for the comment! I will add that to the list and react to it soon! Subscribe and turn notifications on so you don't miss it! Thank you, Karen!
@@DexTVReacts some clarification on the video's date, it's July 2, 1977 from Oakland, California. Skynyrd was from Jacksonville, Florida. Counting the three backup singers there were ten in the group in 77. Three and a half months after the Oakland concert on October, 20,1977 their plane crashed in Mississippi killing three of the ten band members and three others with 20 survivors, most hurt severely. One of those killed was Ronnie Van Zant, the leader, lyricist, singer and heart of the band. He told people many times he would not make it to 30 years old and he would die on the road. They were on tour and Ronnie was 29 years old.
Thats actually from July 2nd1977, although there is a live version from August 1976 at the Knebworth Festival in England where they opened for the Rolling Stones.
One of their most beloved songs is The Ballad Of Curtis loew, which is a storytelling song, and it's just so good on so many levels. But they have tons and tons of hits and really great stuff, and it's one of the few bands for me where I can say I literally like every single song off of every single album.
The brilliance of Ronnie's lyrics was that the simplicity of them hits home with everyone. This song is beyond classic. It's a masterpiece and Skynyrd are legends.
What you're hearing are 3 lead guitarists all playing the same notes simultaneously plus your bassist. Ronnie, the lead singer, is the writer and he doesn't play but his singing is so Powerful.
Hi New here your right about the 70's it was a great time out of the 70 so many great rock bands but the best 3 were this band , led zeppelin , and pink floyd all 3...top shelf all 3 are deep rabbit holes.
The music from the 1970’s is the best era of music ever made and L Skynyrd is by far the best rock band to ever play music If Ronnie Van Zant had not died in that plane crash they would be no doubt The best band ever to play music Ronnie doesn’t get the credit he deserved for being such a great song writer How many bands can you think of That ever song they did was a good song or at least a song that people can relate to I don’t know of another band that anyone can say this about You can take ever album they did and just pick a random of songs from them and make a list of 20 songs and close your eyes and put your finger on one song and you will either like it or be able to relate to it in some way RIP to the greatest rock band to ever play music
Dex, way past time you listened to Pink Floyd, just about the biggest selling rock band of all time. "Comfortably Numb" live at the Pulse concert is a great way to get introduced to PF. Like nothing you have ever heard.
Thank about Ronnie Van Zandt he never wrote down the words to the songs. They wrote the songs in a place called hell house, man with practice, and Ronnie would go down to the dock and go fishing … this is southern rock. Maybe I’ll rest in peace now as of March 5 all the original members are back together again with the passing of Gary Rossington. Fly free birds fly ha high
Yes, Simple Man was released on their 1st album (Pronounced) in August 1973. You can't go wrong with anything from LS up until 1977. Yes, you Pronounced the name right and it is the bands name. The lead vocalist was Ron Van Zant. Unfortunately the bands plane crashed on October 20th 1977 in Gillsburg, Mississippi and Ronnie was killed as well as guitarist Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines (Steve's sister) who was a back up vocalist. One of the greatest rock bands ever and the gold standard of the southern rock genre. I'm thinking you may have heard of a song called Sweet Home Alabama. That's Skynyrd. Some other good ones, I Ain't The One, Working For MCA, Tuesdays Gone, Gimme Back My Bullets, The Needle And The Spoon, The Ballad Of Curtis Loew just to name a few. Thanks for your reaction Sir, and enjoy your dive into Lynyrd Skynyrd. Anyhow l, Thanks for the reactoon

This song is 50 years old - It was relevant then, Today and 50 years from now- it transcends time with its message.
