I went from non-denomination Protestant (by birth not practice) to Muslim to non-denomination Christian (leaning towards Catholicism). Not reading the Bible and having difficulty wrapping my head around the Trinity is ultimately what made Islam appealing to me. I always believed in God but I couldn't reconcile the Trinity for a long time. Islam appealed to me as well since it's quite exotic to Westerners. Then out of curiosity I started reading Apocrypha which lead me to actually read the KJV Bible. Once I read John 10:9 something just clicked and I knew Christianity was the truth. I finally felt at home again.

Jesus is the WORD of God incarnated, which means He came to the world in the flesh. As a human he will get weary. He was without a human father, The Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of God , therefore God , hovered over Mary ( a virgin) that was the miracle which created the human who had to come into this world in order to make us know what is expected from us. The Son of God is called Son because the Words of God proceed from God, like a son. He is not a biological Son. Jesus said, “I am He that sent me. Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” Jesus forgave sins which only God can do- this was considered blasphemous and the reason for His crucifixion. The Religion of Islam was started close to 700 years after the death and resurrection of Jesus (Jesus conquered death and lives), therefore the Muslim ideas and writings on Jesus are not reliable and biased. As Catholics we have the actual writings of those who were actually with Jesus- and His disciples. I mean all this in a spirit of peace and charity. Peace.
My mom prayed with me too. Now Im a Catholic Christian convert. How powerful to think of it. Such a small action can save our souls for eternity. In a sense, our mothers are types of Mary, birthing us in Christ. Guys, teach your kids how to pray. Everything else is secondary.

The objections you´ve posed have no bearing on the Christian claims, as God, when speaking in those old testament quotes you provided, was not yet God the Son incarnate as a man. There is no contradiction between God the Son not being incarnate as a man before and being incarnate as a man after. These are two different moments in the history of salvation. We never claimed that Jesus was a human being before He was incarnate.
Correct, as a “born again” Catholic I found the woman in the Bible to be very holy in their own particular way, from Sarah, Rebecca, to Elizabeth and to Our Blessed Virgin Mary. They all had spiritual roles in the Bible that we call can look up to here in the present time.
I have a copy of the Koran and I can see the trinity in the book but it is flipped. It looks like the trinity begins with christ/the word.The power can't come out. It is in the name of the book koran, the words speak is what it means. Words are spoken words don't speak.

I was born Catholic but was Atheist for the last 25 years. I just recently came to the conclusion that Jesus is real. Not just a mythical figure but a very real person. I am still kind of battling inside with this :D but then my raised atheist teenage son came to me two days ago and said, he was at church with school and he liked it. It was peaceful and nice. I asked: Should we go to church like next sunday? And he said : Great! I am still a bit baffled, but if this is where we are going, I am fine with it!

Not to take away from this amazing interview with Jacob, but your ad about Exodus 90 got my attention. Too many protestants today, I speak as one, lack any serious spiritual discipline. The sorts of exercises you mentioned seem crazy and unnecessary to protestants. But there is something transformative about disciplining the body. Fasting, I argue, is primarily shout abstaining from food for a reason. As a protestant, I always heard that fasting was giving something up for a time to make more time for God. That's good and a worthy practice. But fasting, and other disciplines, are about bringing the body into submission to God.
Hi Tim, in Catholicism during Lent, adherents fast and abstain for 40 days. If one has health issues or unable to fast for whatever reasons, abstaining could be a good start for you to try.
Thank you Jacob, I live in Israel and am a Catholic from birth. I'm really glad you told us about your Grandfather the Mufti. I believe you. I have not learned Arabic, but I go to the Arab Mass here and am learning. Even tho I don't understand it all, My Arab Brothers and Sisters really are in the Spirit and it feeds my soul in a way the English or Hebrew Mass does not. It is NO but much more reverential.

Yes. It is a historical fact that Islam is a Christian heresy, and that Islam emerged out of Christianity. However, in my opinion, Islam is unworthy to be called a “Christian heresy” because of the fact that it radically perverts Christianity. There are many doctrines that will take years to list down that Islam teaches. It will be unfair to Arians, Nestorians, and Protestants to call Islam a Christian heresy. *+ICXC NIKA+*
A truly delightful interview, Jacob is extremely gentle and tasteful when posing his critiques to Islam and is truly genuine and loving when sharing his testimony. These characteristics are very rare to find in religious discussions online.
What you mentioned about twisting the truth... reminds me of something Sonia Azam said (also a TH-camr) she shares her testimony from Islam to Christianity and says that in the Quran, Abraham doesn’t go to sacrifice Isaac but his other son Ishmael.

Thank you for such an inspiring story.... I am a protestant. But I never differentiate catholic from protestant. To me, having the same basic faith, the salvation in Jesus, is the most important thing.
Catholicism claims to have the total truth about man's relationship to God; Catholicism claims to be the one and only holder of all revealed truth about God and Jesus; Catholicism claims that God himself gave the Catholic Church the role of passing on all of Revelation without any changes or innovations. Jesus Christ himself gave all authority on earth to Peter, the first Catholic Pope, and promised that the gates of hell would never destroy his Church - the Catholic Church. There's a HUGE difference between having the fullness of Truth about God and salvation and being a follower of self-appointed men in later generations breaking off pieces of the Truth and denying whole swathes of the Truth (to the point of cutting various books out of the Bible if they didn't agree with their new doctrines, doctrines never taught by Jesus!) and creating their own quasi-Christian sects. Read HISTORY. Find out where Protestants got the Bible (by whose authority they even know that it is Scripture) and why they tore out so many books that they simply refused to accept from God's Word. They are in NO WAY the same, no more than eating scraps of fast-food from the rubbish bin is the same as eating a fresh, wholesome fully nutritious meal. You may be surviving on the scraps from the children's table, but it's still snuffling around on the floor scarfing up scraps and it's still a starvation diet.

One comment - about Muslims thinking our society isn't guided enough by our religion. It can be argued that our religion revolutionized society and the values and mores got so internalized that even atheists and non-Christians, like some Muslims, living in our culture absorb these values as their own, because the truth resonates, and not realizing these values come from the roots of Judaism that God brought to completion in Christianity. These values were not the norms before - the value of all human life - the call to sacrifice on behalf of others - doing good to one's enemy and praying for him - condemning torture and cruelty - that all should be treated equally under the law - that having more money and/or more political power did not necessarily make you a better person - ending child sacrifice - ending human sacrifice - and more recently ending slavery. I would just add that it's on the Church and on those in Judaism to do a better job of knowing and teaching how living and understanding core principles in these religions brought the power of God to bear thru people of courage to make these changes. It was long, difficult process, and many sacrifices were made by many individuals, churches, religious orders, and even nations over centuries and centuries for these to become so normalized they are no longer understood to be the fruit of Judeo-Christian civilization. Keep up your devoted work - the wisdom the two of you and other guests I've seen so far on this channel is part of this ongoing work of impacting society - but now it's to re-Christianize and re-evangelize society. I beg to differ with Jacob's view. I prefer how Sam Shamoun, Dr. David Wood, Christian Prince, Hatun Tash, Dr. Jay Smith, Dr. Bill and other apostates from Islam approaches to Islam. Jacob's view is good if he is in the West but when you grow up in hostile environment like in the East where there are majority muslims around you, you will find that such approach is useless, your voice will not be heard. The azan, the long hours of sermons using 15 loud speakers ( that is only for surau) , schools ( school's silibus are heavily laden with islamic cultures), universities ( you are obliged to take islamic courses and in such courses christianity is heavily bashed and if you protest, you'll probably land in prison), aggresive da'wah (e.g conversion of christian children to islam in boarding schools, the christian family tried to bring their child home but was stopped by the school authority and government), even in parliament ( they told the christian members of parliament that the bible is corrupted), even churches are not safe, TV stations all are heavily laden with islamic teachings (e.g women without hijab are bad) The mission schools were instructed to take down crosses because muslims are offended by the sight of the cross or the sight of holy statues, churches are being raided, you were told not to use certain words as such words only applied in Islam. Here the Christian in the East are suffocating and you are talking from the comfort of your home. Dr. David Wood and all the other Christian apologists who are taking more aggresive approach is like a beacon of light to me in this side of the world. With ammunition (all the lies of quran and hadith) given by them (e.g Dr. David Wood ) to me, i'll be able to defend myself from islamic da'wah.

I went from non-denomination Protestant (by birth not practice) to Muslim to non-denomination Christian (leaning towards Catholicism). Not reading the Bible and having difficulty wrapping my head around the Trinity is ultimately what made Islam appealing to me. I always believed in God but I couldn't reconcile the Trinity for a long time. Islam appealed to me as well since it's quite exotic to Westerners. Then out of curiosity I started reading Apocrypha which lead me to actually read the KJV Bible. Once I read John 10:9 something just clicked and I knew Christianity was the truth. I finally felt at home again.

Jesus is the WORD of God incarnated, which means He came to the world in the flesh. As a human he will get weary. He was without a human father, The Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of God , therefore God , hovered over Mary ( a virgin) that was the miracle which created the human who had to come into this world in order to make us know what is expected from us. The Son of God is called Son because the Words of God proceed from God, like a son. He is not a biological Son. The Religion of Islam was started close to 700 years after the death and resurrection of Jesus (Jesus conquered death and lives), therefore the Muslim ideas and writings on Jesus are not reliable and biased. As Catholics we have the actual writings of those who were actually with Jesus- and His disciples.

I was born Catholic but was Atheist for the last 25 years. I just recently came to the conclusion that Jesus is real. Not just a mythical figure but a very real person. I am still kind of battling inside with this :D but then my raised atheist teenage son came to me two days ago and said, he was at church with school and he liked it. It was peaceful and nice. I asked: Should we go to church like next sunday? And he said : Great! I am still a bit baffled, but if this is where we are going, I am fine with it!

Lola, Jacob is wrong about the nonexisting concept of forgiving and mercy in islamic theology very wrong. But his father never taught him about Islam, or could not teach him bcs he didn' t know himself.

As a Catholic with family members who are Muslims, this has been quite a revelation for me.
Not to take away from this amazing interview with Jacob, but your ad about Exodus 90 got my attention. Too many protestants today, I speak as one, lack any serious spiritual discipline. The sorts of exercises you mentioned seem crazy and unnecessary to protestants. But there is something transformative about disciplining the body. Fasting, I argue, is primarily shout abstaining from food for a reason. As a protestant, I always heard that fasting was giving something up for a time to make more time for God. That's good and a worthy practice. But fasting, and other disciplines, are about bringing the body into submission to God.
Fasting is what you can give up for God.
Hi Tim, in Catholicism during Lent, adherents fast and abstain for 40 days. If one has health issues or unable to fast for whatever reasons, abstaining could be a good start for you to try.

I have not learned Arabic, but I go to the Arab Mass here and am learning. Even tho I don't understand it all, My Arab Brothers and Sisters really are in the Spirit and it feeds my soul in a way the English or Hebrew Mass does not. It is NO but much more reverential.

A truly delightful interview, Jacob is extremely gentle and tasteful when posing his critiques to Islam and is truly genuine and loving when sharing his testimony. These characteristics are very rare to find in religious discussions online.
What you mentioned about twisting the truth... reminds me of something Sonia Azam said (also a TH-camr) she shares her testimony from Islam to Christianity and says that in the Quran, Abraham doesn’t go to sacrifice Isaac but his other son Ishmael.

Thank you for such an inspiring story.... I am a protestant. But I never differentiate catholic from protestant. To me, having the same basic faith, the salvation in Jesus, is the most important thing.
Catholicism claims to have the total truth about man's relationship to God; Catholicism claims to be the one and only holder of all revealed truth about God and Jesus; Catholicism claims that God himself gave the Catholic Church the role of passing on all of Revelation without any changes or innovations. Jesus Christ himself gave all authority on earth to Peter, the first Catholic Pope, and promised that the gates of hell would never destroy his Church - the Catholic Church.
There's a HUGE difference between having the fullness of Truth about God and salvation and being a follower of self-appointed men in later generations breaking off pieces of the Truth and denying whole swathes of the Truth (to the point of cutting various books out of the Bible if they didn't agree with their new doctrines, doctrines never taught by Jesus!) and creating their own quasi-Christian sects.
Read HISTORY. Find out where Protestants got the Bible (by whose authority they even know that it is Scripture) and why they tore out so many books that they simply refused to accept from God's Word.
They are in NO WAY the same, no more than eating scraps of fast-food from the rubbish bin is the same as eating a fresh, wholesome fully nutritious meal. You may be surviving on the scraps from the children's table, but it's still snuffling around on the floor scarfing up scraps and it's still a starvation diet.

Matt seems to twist every opportunity to jeer at Vat II and Novus Ordo. Jacob is a true Catholic.

Matt - I get so much out of your shows! Thank you! And Jacob - I learned from and was inspired by you today! Thank you! One comment - about Muslims thinking our society isn't guided enough by our religion. It can be argued that our religion revolutionized society and the values and mores got so internalized that even atheists and non-Christians, like some Muslims, living in our culture absorb these values as their own, because the truth resonates, and not realizing these values come from the roots of Judaism that God brought to completion in Christianity. These values were not the norms before - the value of all human life - the call to sacrifice on behalf of others - doing good to one's enemy and praying for him - condemning torture and cruelty - that all should be treated equally under the law - that having more money and/or more political power did not necessarily make you a better person - ending child sacrifice - ending human sacrifice - and more recently ending slavery. I would just add that it's on the Church and on those in Judaism to do a better job of knowing and teaching how living and understanding core principles in these religions brought the power of God to bear thru people of courage to make these changes. It was long, difficult process, and many sacrifices were made by many individuals, churches, religious orders, and even nations over centuries and centuries for these to become so normalized they are no longer understood to be the fruit of Judeo-Christian civilization. Keep up your devoted work - the wisdom the two of you and other guests I've seen so far on this channel is part of this ongoing work of impacting society - but now it's to re-Christianize and re-evangelize society. By God's grace and love thru Christ!

Such an interesting conversation. I am a cradle catholic so this is interesting to me how he came to find God.
I beg to differ with Jacob's view. I prefer how Sam Shamoun, Dr. David Wood, Christian Prince, Hatun Tash, Dr. Jay Smith, Dr. Bill and other apostates from Islam approaches to Islam. Jacob's view is good if he is in the West but when you grow up in hostile environment like in the East where there are majority muslims around you, you will find that such approach is useless, your voice will not be heard. The azan, the long hours of sermons using 15 loud speakers ( that is only for surau) , schools ( school's silibus are heavily laden with islamic cultures), universities ( you are obliged to take islamic courses and in such courses christianity is heavily bashed and if you protest, you'll probably land in prison), aggresive da'wah (e.g conversion of christian children to islam in boarding schools, the christian family tried to bring their child home but was stopped by the school authority and government), even in parliament ( they told the christian members of parliament that the bible is corrupted), even churches are not safe, TV stations all are heavily laden with islamic teachings (e.g women without hijab are bad) The mission schools were instructed to take down crosses because muslims are offended by the sight of the cross or the sight of holy statues, churches are being raided, you were told not to use certain words as such words only applied in Islam. Here the Christian in the East are suffocating and you are talking from the comfort of your home. Dr. David Wood and all the other Christian apologists who are taking more aggresive approach is like a beacon of light to me in this side of the world. With ammunition (all the lies of quran and hadith) given by them (e.g Dr. David Wood ) to me, i'll be able to defend myself from islamic da'wah.
