I Love my Sirui 2204 W It is perfect for wildlife photography in southeast Texas. It is wetlands and beaches. This is tall enough for 6'4" people and it is waterproof. It is light and works fantastic.
I'm Curious i was trying to get the Surui T-2205X, but the seller was trying to move me to the T2205SK. Is the SK version a Upgraded version of the X???
...Received this Siriu T-2205X and the Manfrotto XPro Ball Head today. Assembled them tonight and the whole high-quality rig feels solid as a rock. Can’t wait to take it out for a spin up on the roof of my apartment building with my Df and 200-500 this weekend. Thanks for this review!
My only gripe is the 5 segment legs which of course allow this to fold up into a very small package but the downside is the extra time twisting 12 grips to lock this tripod down. For those who don't care, this is a great package for travel. I have the Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 with 2 levers per leg and yes, it's relatively heavy with the X-PRO 3-Way tripod head bolted to it but in Scotland, weight is a good thing cos its so damn windy here. And adjustment is done in half the time.
Gitzo prices are nuts now! I bought a used older Gitzo aluminum tripod from back when they made them in France. It was less than $200! in almost pristine condition. It was made as well as a Leica,Hasselblad, or Nikon from back in the days of metal cameras just beautiful quality. Not light buy any stretch of the imagination but it would probably support an 8X10. The used market is a great place to look. Lots of nice ball heads for under $100 as well.
I had a Sirui travel tripod 3 years ago, and it started great, but 2 different leg joints failed, and Sirui's USA warranty response was incredibly sucky. Hopefully, it's gotten better.
Thanks for the review, Ken. The 5-segment legs are a non-starter for me; I drive around in the truck and jump out to photograph, sometimes hiking a bit, and the extra time to extend 6 extra sections each time, over the years, no. I replaced my 27-year-old Gitzo 320 with a Manfrotto 535 as the Gitzo leg-angle notches were wearing/rounding off. Both 'pods have just 3 leg segments and reach my eye (I'm 6'5" so my choices are automatically limited). Something else, with the flip-locks on the Manfrotto I can confirm, at a glance, all locks are secure; can't do that with your 'pod nor the Gitzo; I've yet to drop something with a leg collapsing but I've come close a couple times.
I had a Siri and it is a great tripod, but I prefer the slightly older Gitzos and RRS tripods. They are actually more stable. I realize the rated weight is similar, but I think the ratings on the Gitzo and RRS are very conservative.
You sir, are a bonafide weirdo. I like weirdos. Always have. I just bought this rig - tripod & ballhead - for less than $400. This is isn't the first time that you have validated my thinking and have helped me make a smart buy. Q: What is your rec for horizontal column for the Sirui? Appreciate what you do.
Hey Ken. I recently came across a unique and extremely high-quality travel tripod...the FLM "CP26 Travel Tripod". It has super-strong 10x Carbon Fiber legs (26 lb load capacity!) with well-made twist locks, and a ball head that has several unique features that I've not seen in my 35 years of photography using tripods...For example, the "Pan" function permits butter-smooth normal panning, but in addition, adds a 15-degree ratchet function that is fantastic for us landscape/panorama photographers! There is also a "Tilt" knob that locks the ball head so that only one vertical/up/down plane is available. And finally, there is a "lock" function that locks the ball head from panning/turning, so that it can easily be unscrewed and/or mounted solidly. The kit comes with very well-made screw-on metal spikes, and folds up to a compact 15.75" for travel. Quite ingenious and precision design overall, and highly recommended for travel!! Bottom line: This FLM tripod simply exudes Quality. FLM-Canada supplies the US. Thank you, and Happy Holidays!
I ordered from B&H and was inside the number that Nikon said they would give them in the first shipment. Then Nikon sent them less and I was outside the number shipped to B&H. It has nothing to do with a Jewish holiday. I called them on September 14, one week after the first shipments and that is what I was told by B&H. This didn't happen on the D500. B&H received the exact number they were promised and I received mine when promised. This is a production issue. However I do agree with Ken that something is going on because I stopped by a Best Buy store in Knoxville TN on 10/4 and asked where they stood on the Nikon D850 camera and was told that they have now been informed by Nikon that they would not be selling that camera in their stores. I wonder if this had anything to do with Nikon Rumors splashing on their website a month ago that Best Buy was holding some D850's and issuing them to people who went inside and specifically asked for one. About the waiting, sure I would love to have mine in hand but I own other cameras until I get mine. I'm not jumping ship because of a delay in shipment. I'm just happy Nikon has made some great products in the last 2 years, D500, D850 and PF lenses. They have momentum now and hopefully this trend continues throughout the rest of my career.
I have managed to pick up Two 'Slik' master classic tripods from Boot sales (£10 each) They are heavy and bulky however really are nice to use. Plus around £50-£100 on ebay.
Sir, can you recommend a tripod for $150 or so? I am on a strict budget. Bought a used canon 70D and a used 400mm 5.6L along with a new 24mm 2.8 STM. I would like a tripod for $150+ taxes. May be able to go up to $175-$200 but that's pushing the budget.
Providing you don't mind not having fully angle adjustable legs or interchangeable heads my #1 is the Velbon EF-61. It has a quick release head, it's super light and as rugged as i need it to be for £34. Absolute steal!
Hello, I'm looking for almost 2 weeks for a tripod and I've found your video. So after 3 years what is your recommendation for a tripod new or second hand ... that I want to use it mainly for landscape and street photography. Also it will be nice to have below 65cm folded. I own a D7100, a 17-55mm and a 70-300mm. Thank you so much.
I debated between this one and the Promaster XC525c for awhile and decided to go with the Promaster because it extends up to 60", is 10 oz lighter, and has a better warranty. If you don't need the extra payload of the Sirui then definitely check out the Promaster.
B&H now directs you to a model t-2204sk, supposedly the replacement now that this one is discontinued. Can’t find any reviews but it’s almost a full pound heavier.
Like the monopod recommendation, this another recommendation for short gear. The current version of this tripod, T-2204SK, isn’t even 5 feet tall. It is only 56 inches! I need something goes to at least 70 inches, preferably without a center column. This Sirui might be a good tripod, might be a good brand, but too much of their stuff is just way too short. This is one reason why other brands cost a little more, and weigh a little more.
I have a knock off of this tripod by Zomei and it is a versatile tripod and can actually take a lot of weight, but there's also flex in places there shouldn't be - specifically the part where the head attaches to the center column. The the twist lock knobs also don't seem to be of good quality and take more than a short turn to lock to a satisfactory amount and unlock, but they do work. I'm wondering how this one compares in terms of rigidity and build quality. I actually wish there were more tripods without a center column - it's just a weak and wobbly part of the tripod which prevents them from getting as low as they could and I'm not interested in the inverted position because it's very awkward to operate a camera upside down and with legs in the way.
I had two Sirui's, one for over 5 years, it's a great tripod and have recommended it for years but it's in no way better than a RRS or Gitzo sorry, it's very good but the leg locks are not nearly as good, in fact if you get the Sirui in water and lock the legs they can collapse under weight, in dry conditions they are fine though. Just be warned. Also, they have better ratings because people rate on price for the higher end tripods which has zero to do with quality. Benro is also cheap and pretty much an exact copy of the Gitzo line, I actually use a Benro center column on my Gitzo Mountaineer series 3. The Gitzo part was like 175 bucks and the Benro part was 40 on Amazon. I was shocked that it fit and the quality was the same (exact match in fact).
Been looking into Induro tripods lately. They're basically a Gitzo, but significantly cheaper. Haven't encountered one myself, but it's one I'm considering...one day. The Sirui seems like it'd be good as an ultra-portable for international travel (especially Japan, they are the MOST stickler about dimensions and weight, ugh! They've tape-measured my tripod every single time, without fail), but I'm looking for something a bit more solid. Holding weight is a decent indication of strength, but I've never been a huge fan of the legs which fold 180 deg.. That capability requires a joint which I've found has less rigidity. I'd be curious how small the diameter of the legs are on the smallest stage. These ultra-portables tend to have tiny legs, which again makes them less solid. I don't mind lugging something bulkier and heavier, even while hiking, so long as it's that much more solid. This is especially true if you're gonna be shooting on the beach at all. Waves will move one of those ultra-lights in the sand.
thanks so much, Ken... somehow I have a bit of trouble hearing out. What again is the head you have on in this vid, a Manfrotto head > I assume its your choice for macro? I need the best head on this tripod for macro. Keep up the good work!
I bought a Zomei, of practically identical design--less the carbon fiber, for around $50 on eBay. Even folds down to 14.6", like this one. I'm comparing, as I watch. I'd bet it's made at the same factory. Look up the Zomei Q666
I don't have many tripods but I have this one. I am also very happy with the T-2205X. By the way, what's the best DIN 4503-2 tripod head to go along with the T-2205X?
Sometimes I hate how right he is too. I spent 400 dollars on a Manfrodo tripod. It is an absolutely solid tripod, mind you, but compared to what he has stated here, I could have gotten a far superior tripod for the same price. *sigh* can't rewind time though.
I really like so far my Vangaurd Alta Pro 2+ 263 carbon fiber. The multi-angle center column is an awesome feature. RRS is really overkill for a hobbyist like me. Sirui is definitely very good too! Glad to see you back in the chair!
I have the first gen 264 (one extra telescoping stage). It's good, and it's been great for me, but I'm starting to crave something a bit sturdier, even if more bulky and heavy. It's a good tripod for travel, but it does have a bit more play than I'd like. It is built like a tank though.
Hey, Ken Have you ever used the SiRui N-2205X? It looks like the same tripod except you can unscrew most of the center column for very low angle shooting while this one requires swapping out to shorter column. It doesn't seem to be easily available anymore but I've seen it for a good price on eBay. Is it logical to assume that model has the same build quality of the T2205X?
if you are on budget, for the price of sirui 2205x- you can get sirui 2004x(aluminuim) with k40x ballhead. SIRUI T-2205X travel-tripod Carbon 144cm Load Capacity 26.5 lb (12 kg) Maximum Height 56.9" (144.5 cm) Maximum Height w/o Column Extended 49.0" (124.5 cm) Minimum Height 5.3" (13.5 cm) Folded Length Legs reversed: 14.6" (37.0 cm) Legs folded down: 17.1" (43.5 cm) Weight 2.6 lb (1.2 kg) Material 8x carbon fiber SIRUI-2004X Material: Aluminium Leg sections: 4 Min. height: 14 cm Max. height: 123 cm Max. height w/ column: 148 cm Retracted: 49 cm Folded: 41 cm Weight: 1500 g Max. load: 15 kg
Yeah, but here's the dirty little secret of modern tripods...…..……..I am not familiar with Sirui tripods, however A LOT of these "travel" tripods (and even some of the full size tripods nowadays), is that they use plastic bushings (for lack of a better word), that hold the leg sections together (OR NOT). I forget the brand, but I was reading the reviews on B&H, and several people reported the leg sections just falling out into their hands. I had the MeFoto Road Trip. I used the tripod twice (and I baby my equipment), with a 35mm film camera and a 20mm lens (twenty millimeter), and one day, one of the leg sections fell apart right in my living room. Fortunately, there was no camera on it at the time. My "Mr. Fixit" co-worker took the tripod apart and showed me the flimsy plastic 'bushings' that hold (or not) the leg sections together. I see that the reviews for this tripod are overwhelmingly positive, so I miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight buy one OR since I spent my 'yute' lifting weights, bet back in the gym, and buy a used tripod that was built in the 1990's. What good is a "lightweight" tripod, if it doesn't support your $1,000 camera and your $1000 lens?
Will you recommend a ball head for my tripod (velbon videomate II). To shoot posed images of one to several contestants indoors. My main concern is moving from Portrait to Landscape quickly, keeping cam level. All other options are relatively unimportant. The ball head will remain on this tripod specifically for this use. I use a d7200 with 24-70mm lens so total weight about 4 lbs. Thank you.
Nice review Ken. Could you check and see if the legs fold all the way up with the Oben BE-117? I'm thinking this would be a nice combo for my Fujifilm X-T20. Thanks in advance.
How can you make a comparison to RRS when they don't make a center column tripod? Since they don't use the center column, the RRS is actually more stable. The other fact you did not mention is the carbon thickness and wrapping of the carbon fiber. Is this a really 1/4 and lock construction?
RRS is hurting themselves with their crazy pricing. I just went with the Induro CLT 303L. Awesome Tripod. Although the RRS B-55 lever quick release mechanism where the money is.
That little 4" section is not an extension, but used instead of the taller column for use in getting really close to the ground by folding the legs out to almost 90 degrees to the z-axis.
Hi man! I just received my Sirui E-2204, which I guess is similar to what you recommend here. I have a problem with the short center column, from which I cannot unscrew the screw that holds the head plate. I tried using a long 11mm tubular wrench, but it's still too short.
Theoria Apophasis Yes, just arrived. I think the only difference is that it has clip locks instead of twist ones, which I hate.. The ebay seller told me that the short column is used only for lenghtening the long column even more, but I want to use only the short one. So I want to remove that screw and mount the hook instead, but I can't seem to be able to find a suitable wrench to unscrew it.
I've had one of these for about a year now; he's right, excellent product. I also have one[1] of their Rock of Gibraltar solid, silky smooth K-X series ball heads; that I now wouldn't be without. And a minor point... saw a video a while back where a Sirui rep at some trade show was saying the correct pronunciation is 'Sue Ray'. [1] Actually two, a -10 on the above T-2205X, and the very large -40 on my 'studio' tripod. Search DPreview for 'Battle of the titans' for their (1/13/14) beaming review of the Sirui K-40X head...
Gitzo is not bought by Manfrotto. The same company, which bought Manfrotto, also bought Gitzo. There is no quality drop (any source for this statement?). They only killed the cheaper product line and concentrate to carbon. If you life in EU, I can recommend Gitzo. You can get the GT0545, 1545 and 2545 for 440, 520 and 600€. This is higher than Sirui (~1.5x for comparable products). But if you do long exposure in not optimal outdoor conditions, it worth the money.
Thanks for the tripod love, ken :) This looks like an ideal travel tripod candidate as well, due to the carbon fiber. On the non-travel front, I upgraded to the manfrotto MT055XPRO3 you reviewed before and its the best. Love the sturdiness and the easy to use horizontal column!
Why not say in 5 minutes rather than repeat the same things over and over and over. I appreciate the information but had tour it off after the third or fourth repeat of the same facts.
I wasn't trying to be rude. His information was solid, but after hearing it for the fourth time, I turned off the video. If he said something beyond that point to come across as "belittling" I wouldn't know. I am interested in the tripod he suggested. So I do thank him for the information.
Theoria Apophasis i never tried this brand but i owned a twistlock style tripod that left some room for error. If i twisted one of the knobs a little bit less the leg would collapse. Very frustrating. I must admit it wasn’t an expensive one. Now i own the Manfrotto 055xpro3 with the bq2 ballhead. I take it everywhere, even on travels. It’s so versatile.
What tripod would you recommend for Real Estate photography? Stability is most important future for me, weight, comfort, speed does not matter. Price - less expensive the better. Thank you for all suggestions!
A pro photographer I would make shure the tripod legs are made of actual unidirectional carbon fiber and not the extremely low cost lookalike composite variant. The real stuff wont break dropped from a cliff or if you step on it.
And what is your personal pref? I am going to use this on a D850. I am not a pro photographer. I just enjoy photography, generally taking pics of people and landscapes.
My local dealer sells those tripods but with no head on it... I am bit lost at how to choose the head, there are bunches of heads to choose, so stuck in my own sh** again. Would like to update my old Manfro(knows)tto tripod.
I still think the gitzo explorer is really good not carbon fibre I think it is about £150 about 220 dollars. Am amazed at the prices for some of these tripods a £1000!!! Good tripod legs should not cost more than £300
I have a 3 or 4 section Sirui tripod (the non-carbon fiber one that's $200) and I love it! I bought it when I shot Canon and needed the weight capacity. Now that I'm full Fuji it's overkill, so I'm looking to downsize to something smaller and lighter, probably carbon fiber.
in a prior video you recommended the Oben BE-117 ball head, was that your recommendation for the sirui P326 monopod only? or is the Oben also good for this tripod too? how does this manfrotto ball head compare to the Oben BE-117. not sure which ball head to buy because i was it tp be used for both tripod and monopod
MANFROTTO MT055CXPRO4 Carbon with BHQR6 Ballhead (ARCA PLATE ) can hold an Elephant on it. but its heavy. your SIRUI looks cool one Ken. beautiful video, as always. thank you.
G'day mate, I've taken your advice an purchased one of these SIRUI tripods, the one you featured here has been discontinued so I purchased the "T-024SK Carbon Fiber tripod with B00K Ball Head", It cost me $300 AUD and looking forward to receiving and using it. Thank you for your frank and honest reviews/advice. Cheers from Western Australia
hi Ken, that's a great looking tripod and I'm sure it performs great. ive had super great performance from my SINNOFOTO tripods and heads. they are arca swiss which I know you don't like but ive had all this stuff for over a year. I needed some spacers and adapters for a mini that I was constructin and they sent me the whole section, no charge so they are great to deal with. the quality is super with anodized ends, the spiked or rubber feet, a walkig stick,it too will hang upsidedowm and looks awesome. I wish you could get your mitts on one. its way cheaper than that stuff and comes with a head. they have all kinds of different ones and amazon carries a lot but not all of their line. chek them out and when I'm feeling like a gear whore(that you made me) maybe ill snatch one of these because it too looks great.
I Love my Sirui 2204 W
It is perfect for wildlife photography in southeast Texas. It is wetlands and beaches. This is tall enough for 6'4" people and it is waterproof. It is light and works fantastic.

So a Sirui tripod plus a decent lens, or a Really Expensive Stuff tripod.
What a hard choice to make...
What are your thoughts for the best tripod for backpacking? This one or something else?

What do you think about the t2204x model? Will that be more stable? Thanks.
How does this compare to the Sirui ET-2204?
thanks so much, Ken... somehow I have a bit of trouble hearing out. What again is the head you have on in this vid, a Manfrotto head > I assume its your choice for macro? I need the best head on this tripod for macro. Keep up the good work!
I really don't like that kind of twist locking mechanism, is there really an advantage between the twist locking mechanism or the flip version.
the Sirui T-2205X
has been discontinued. Which model do you recommend now?
Very cool.
By the way, what's the best DIN 4503-2 tripod head to go along with the T-2205X?
everyones bitching about the Sirui and theyve never even handled one
?
I understand he can read minds. You must have been bitching about the Sirui in you mind. LOL
I have the Acratech GT-ss ballhead, and I love it! It's lightweight, sturdy, and easy to clean (I like to drop it in dusty places).
Is it sharp?
I hate it when your right and logical! It's a perfect tripod.
Sometimes I hate how right he is too. I spent 400 dollars on a Manfrodo tripod. It is an absolutely solid tripod, mind you, but compared to what he has stated here, I could have gotten a far superior tripod for the same price. *sigh* can't rewind time though.
Then this is not the channel for you, friend
Is their a very tall tripod (aluminum is OK) tripod that you’d recommend that extends to 80” or more? Slik used to make one I used in the 70s.
I really like so far my Vangaurd Alta Pro 2+ 263 carbon fiber. The multi-angle center column is an awesome feature. RRS is really overkill for a hobbyist like me. Sirui is definitely very good too! Glad to see you back in the chair!
Dan Vang yes!
I have the first gen 264 (one extra telescoping stage). It's good, and it's been great for me, but I'm starting to crave something a bit sturdier, even if more bulky and heavy. It's a good tripod for travel, but it does have a bit more play than I'd like. It is built like a tank though.
Ken how does this Tripod compare with the N-2205x? I mean with regards to monopod option?
which tripod?
Ken, What is your best recommended tripod with a centercolumn that can be set perpendicularly?
see next video, thats the manfrotto
Hey, Ken
Have you ever used the SiRui N-2205X? It looks like the same tripod except you can unscrew most of the center column for very low angle shooting while this one requires swapping out to shorter column. It doesn't seem to be easily available anymore but I've seen it for a good price on eBay. Is it logical to assume that model has the same build quality of the T2205X?
ive not used that one :/
Is this really worth buying over the aluminium version? Double the price for 200g less?
this a Sirui, dunno what yer talking about
T-2005X is the aluminium version of this tripod. It costs half the money.
the carbon one is already cheap as dirt
True. but it's still twice as much for only 200g less :D
Hi! Did you end up buying it? In that case, how is it? Was Ken right again? Thanks!
if you are on budget, for the price of sirui 2205x- you can get sirui 2004x(aluminuim) with k40x ballhead.

Thank you.
i use the medium format rated manfrotto ball head, looooove it sooooo much
Nice review Ken. Could you check and see if the legs fold all the way up with the Oben BE-117?
I'm thinking this would be a nice combo for my Fujifilm X-T20. Thanks in advance.
Like the analogy with the Toyota Corolla. If the Sirui tripod is as good as my Corolla then it must be an epic piece of kit.
How can you make a comparison to RRS when they don't make a center column tripod? Since they don't use the center column, the RRS is actually more stable. The other fact you did not mention is the carbon thickness and wrapping of the carbon fiber. Is this a really 1/4 and lock construction?
i dont touch the overpriced RRS stuff , its atrociously priced
maghi cat Same legs as RRS, like he mentioned.
RRS is hurting themselves with their crazy pricing. I just went with the Induro CLT 303L. Awesome Tripod. Although the RRS B-55 lever quick release mechanism where the money is.
the sirui center column wiggles a fair amount. I will be either buying a RRS or promedia gear tripod with a flat top plate very soon.
mine doesnt wiggle a bit
Really glad you have done this review. But what dont you like about Arca Swiss?
Very good evaluation. I personally would never buy an "overpriced tripod", I just am not a fan of the "twist lock" I prefer the lever lock legs.
ive got both, ive never had a twist fail on me
That little 4" section is not an extension, but used instead of the taller column for use in getting really close to the ground by folding the legs out to almost 90 degrees to the z-axis.
Hi man! I just received my Sirui E-2204, which I guess is similar to what you recommend here. I have a problem with the short center column, from which I cannot unscrew the screw that holds the head plate.
I tried using a long 11mm tubular wrench, but it's still too short.
im not familiar with THAT tripod, buy it new?
Theoria Apophasis Yes, just arrived. I think the only difference is that it has clip locks instead of twist ones, which I hate.. The ebay seller told me that the short column is used only for lenghtening the long column even more, but I want to use only the short one. So I want to remove that screw and mount the hook instead, but I can't seem to be able to find a suitable wrench to unscrew it.
I have had this for a while. Killer tripod. I put a Benro mount on it and it’s perfect.
Hey, Ken is the non-carbon fiber version of this tripod called Sirui T-2005X 5-Section Aluminum Tripod for $125.99?
Yes.
Search DPreview for 'Battle of the titans' for their (1/13/14) beaming review of the Sirui K-40X head...
i know, but i cant get my lips to say sue ray
Gitzo is not bought by Manfrotto. The same company, which bought Manfrotto, also bought Gitzo. There is no quality drop (any source for this statement?). They only killed the cheaper product line and concentrate to carbon. If you life in EU, I can recommend Gitzo. You can get the GT0545, 1545 and 2545 for 440, 520 and 600€.
This is higher than Sirui (~1.5x for comparable products). But if you do long exposure in not optimal outdoor conditions, it worth the money.
You're a real hero for saving me with yashinon lens and now this.
MT055XPRO3, I love it. But it's too large for taking on a plane as carry on.
Why not say in 5 minutes rather than repeat the same things over and over and over. I appreciate the information but had tour it off after the third or fourth repeat of the same facts.
side effect of PTSD due to severe trauma .......sorry
I wasn't trying to be rude. His information was solid, but after hearing it for the fourth time, I turned off the video. If he said something beyond that point to come across as "belittling" I wouldn't know. I am interested in the tripod he suggested. So I do thank him for the information.
Theoria Apophasis PTSD from years of inferior tripods!
Looks like a good one indeed! However, I prefer the Manfrotto style leglocks over these twisters.
ive got both, both are fine
Theoria Apophasis i never tried this brand but i owned a twistlock style tripod that left some room for error. If i twisted one of the knobs a little bit less the leg would collapse. Very frustrating. I must admit it wasn’t an expensive one. Now i own the Manfrotto 055xpro3 with the bq2 ballhead. I take it everywhere, even on travels. It’s so versatile.
which head do you prefer?
Isn't the screw-on section primarily intended to be used when you need to get really low to the ground?
What tripod would you recommend for Real Estate photography? Stability
is most important future for me, weight, comfort, speed does not matter.
Price - less expensive the better. Thank you for all suggestions!
A pro photographer I would make shure the tripod legs are made of actual unidirectional carbon fiber and not the extremely low cost lookalike composite variant. The real stuff wont break dropped from a cliff or if you step on it.
@ Theoria,
Can you please recommend a best ball head
for this particular tripod(Sirui T-2205X)?? Thank u sir
best depends on what you wanna do , personal pref
And what is your personal pref? I am going to use this on a D850. I am not a pro photographer. I just enjoy photography, generally taking pics of people and landscapes.
Please Ken!! I have the extact same questino, the sirui k30x looks like a good choice...
I'm 6'7" tall. This tripod is too short for me. Any recommendations on a tripod for tall photographers?
crouch down some
Bleh
My local dealer sells those tripods but with no head on it... I am bit lost at how to choose the head, there are bunches of heads to choose, so stuck in my own sh** again. Would like to update my old Manfro(knows)tto tripod.
Which head do you have mounted?
I still think the gitzo explorer is really good not carbon fibre I think it is about £150 about 220 dollars. Am amazed at the prices for some of these tripods a £1000!!! Good tripod legs should not cost more than £300
Cheers Ken..... just ordered for £187.50 ($260.67) 👍🏼
will it be able to hold the GFX?
Is this one better than the Really Right Stuff tripod?
It’s clearly not better than a RRS tripod.
I have a 3 or 4 section Sirui tripod (the non-carbon fiber one that's $200) and I love it! I bought it when I shot Canon and needed the weight capacity. Now that I'm full Fuji it's overkill, so I'm looking to downsize to something smaller and lighter, probably carbon fiber.
hi which ball head is best for this tripod
Hi. Thank you for the video. May I ask what head you're using please?
Juicylime Media Production ...the bald one ;-)
this might be one of your best reviews! i dont like the twist lock legs though i feel its easier and faster to use the clip locks
theyre both quick
Lol you've never owned a RRS anything. Or a Gitzo. Or an Arca Swiss....ANYTHING
what ball head are u using on this? what do u recommend for this tripod ?
manfrotto Xpro ball head
in a prior video you recommended the Oben BE-117 ball head, was that your recommendation for the sirui P326 monopod only? or is the Oben also good for this tripod too?
how does this manfrotto ball head compare to the Oben BE-117. not sure which ball head to buy because i was it tp be used for both tripod and monopod
*want it to be used for
I'm really admire your knowledge Ken. Simply the best.
Just get the exact model with bh E20 kit for $233. If just the tripos $192. Both are retail price in here. Thank you sir.
Ffff Ssss Where did you find this at ?
MANFROTTO MT055CXPRO4 Carbon with BHQR6 Ballhead (ARCA PLATE ) can hold an Elephant on it. but its heavy. your SIRUI looks cool one Ken. beautiful video, as always. thank you.
What about the Manfrotto Befree? It might not as good as this one, but I found it for way less.
thats the next video after this one :)
At 57 inches maximum height, that is a great tripod for shorter people. I am 6’4”.
Sirui are okay , but like many of the cheaper models they degrade faster with regular usage and in inclement conditions.
there is no such evidence of same.....
My and others experience says otherwise ....
Hi Ken,
Thanks for the great video. Can you give us for an options for tripod with horizontal arm. Thanks again and keep the good work.
yes, thats in the video after this one, the manfrotto 055
😍😍😍 Man. I Love YOu Pro. You are Awesome
I just bought this tripod and it’s very nice so far only got it yesterday in mail
Hey man do you have a recommendation for a good light tripod for backpacking around Japan?
Did you get paid for everytime you said Really Right Stuff?????
HAve you tested the MeFoto Q1?
Eh. Isn't this tripod almost the same as any of the q666? Those are cheaper and come with a ball head. The Q666 doesn't have the spike feet tho
12:31 - 13:47 -> I like his brutal honest sense of humour, that's why I subscribed !
This is great Ken as I know nothing about tripods (except now I do!)
Nice review I bought the same tripod and it works great.
If I want "really right stuff" I'll paint it on lol
Great tripod advice.
Bought this tripod on your recommendation. Thanks Ken, it’s great !!!
now its 400 on amazon. your recommendation must have driven up the price.
You forgot to mention the three legged thing tripod
junk tripod
