  • Alfa Romeo Discontinues the Quadrifoglio models for the Giulia and Stelvio marking the final production for this model in April 2024. FCA has made a rapid push towards EV and Hybrid power plants killing off the most soulful and spectacular high performance models this brand has created in modern times. Watch the entire video to learn about what is actually happening in the automotive world globally and realize first hand the EV market is Imploding right before everyones eyes. We now see the resale values of EV drop 50% and greater in their first year which is greater depreciation than any new ICE vehicle today. Why you ask? it is because of long term consumer fears of what an EV actually will become, obsolete like your current smart phone and there is no secondary market for old technology with batteries that will not last due to their actual life cycle depletion. Enthusiasm and passion is going away from the automobile genre. Domestics are pulling away, Asia builds are all in, Europeans are reluctantly buying in. I'm okay with a mild hybrid, no plugin, no EV. We'll see.
I have a fully loaded '21 Stelvio Q4 2L from new and each and every time I look at it takes my breath away. Finest looking machine on the planet. My lease expires in April, I'm buying it back because there's nothing else out there in this trim, including the '24 Stelvio. Excellent video btw. Keep them coming. Thanx. 👏

Hey Phil, I have been following your channel for years with enthusiasm of all the Alfa insight you have with these cars. Thanks for the unfortunate post that we knew was coming. It's also sad that the article is from the magazine that disparaged the car the most and continually brings up reliability issues for the brand, even though that was an early-run car. I've worked on promos for many Stellantis brands. The day I did one for Alfa Romeo years ago and got to drive the Giulia and Stelvio QV's on canyon roads in Monterey, CA was when I fell in love with them for being "Driver's Cars" without too many electronic distractions. Having done driving experiences with BMW M2.'s M3's, M4's and Porsches and Audis , I recognized immediately the difference with the Giulia QV and how it fit me like a glove. Moreover, the customers coming to drive them were all showing up in Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens and Porsches and they all raved about the driving experience for this small 4-door sedan. At a later event for Motor Trend, I introduced myself to Larry Dominique, the VP of Alfa North America, and relayed the sense of driving passion from myself and the participants. He told me they knew it would be a challenge to retain that driving excitement with the new EV / Emissions mandates. And unfortunately, as you pointed out, Stellantis execs are turning away from the enthusiasts that bought their products, including all of the Dodge Hellcats. At present, they are not even going to Car Shows to promote them, affecting everyone in the industry.
I also live in Los Angeles where there are areas near me around Elon Muskville (Spacex , Starlink , Manhattan Beach and El Segundo} where you will literally see 1 of every 3 or 4 cars being a Tesla (or Rivian or Lucid and now Fisker.) And many of those people can afford nice houses and faster charging. But the reality is that many people in Southern California live in apartments and have to park on the street, which means NO charging , regardless of the fact that we don't have the energy infrastructure to support everyone charging in the Summer and many rural areas having no charging infrastructure at all. Having also attended multiple commercial "green" vehicle shows, that argument actually makes more sense to convert buses and city trucks to electric and Hydrogen- Electric vehicles, rather than forcing it down every consumer's throat and destroying car culture and the repair industry in the process. Hopefully I can win the lottery and buy a QV and some other ICE cars before they no longer make them!

remember, is clear that Stellantis does not give a crap about AR market in US, I am disgusted how they are treating AR in the US. I got 2 Giulia so far and I was aiming to the Quad, but I am not "ready" yet.. so i have to hope someone will sell the used one in a couple of years..
TONALE was designed for the European market ONLY, in fact there sold very well, but the US got the HORNET, based on a precise Strategic decision, aimed to "save" Dodge and kill AR on the same market. Now they are pulling the QUAD from US, but NOT World wide, so is just another step to kill the US Market.
Keep in mind they cannot sell Quads in Italy, due to a massive Super Tax on any car with over 200HP, so, the only way you can sell Quads is elsewhere, like Germany, Switzerland and any other Country without the Super Tax. WHY Removing the US Market to me is a Mystery, because in US people CAN and WILL buy cars with 500 HP...
I am Italian 100%, born and raised in Rome, in the US since 2004, I grew up driving ALFA ROMEO in Italy, but hey.. let's be Honest, AR died with Marchionne just a few years ago...

It is a total sham they are trying hard to push but the public sees the BS and that is why nobody is buying them and all manufactures who put all their eggs in the EV basket are lostng millions and billions of dollars now.

I’m 75 and in a pretty good financial situation. I love enthusiast cars, however, not sure I’m prepared to spend $100,000 for my next car. Take a look at how many taycans are on sale right now, used and new. Sure it's a highly sold car but theres tons sitting on lots right now. As a consumer why would you spend a premium on an electric car when it will be out of date next year? There's even that thing with the korean companies, hyundai kia genesis, slight undertray damage (where the battery sits) can total a car.
It's funny, last year was the Porsche 75th anniversary festival and at the experience center they were offering track rides in their cars: I got the GT car early but they sold out fast, and then went the caymans, turbos, maccans, and even on the day of they still had taycan spots because no one wanted to even passenger in one!

I'm very glad you made this video. The last I heard is that Alfa Romeo intends to move to full electrification in 2025, so we'd be 'lucky' if they retained a hybrid or two in their future lineup. It was going to be a similar situation for most manufacturers. The German marques have scaled back their EV roadmaps for at least the next few years. The lack of consumer interest combined with China's withholding of rare earths for export makes it impossible for the automotive industry to make a complete switchover in the near term. As you mentioned, there's also the lack of necessary electrical infrastructure and production to support so many EVs. Even if Alfa decides to maintain the ICE elimination plan we still have other prestige marques that will retain ICE models probably through to the end of this decade. I don't intend to buy an EV until there's no alternative and hope most people will do the same.
As I have been commenting in various videos on YT, this headlong push for ICE replacement with EVs is NOT about the environment. Anyone reading this please don't be fooled. Climate change as a result of increased carbon dioxide is a total lie if you look at unbiased research on the topic. Of course, that's what governments want us to believe in order to _justify_ the regulations being hoisted on manufacturers and citizens alike. They have no other believable rationale for such an extreme and abrupt transformation to our societies. If you look at the actual numbers you'll soon realize that what the governments are saying and what the reality is are radically different. There are not enough rare natural resources on the entire planet to satisfy a worldwide EV market even if you keep transport vehicles like semi fleets powered by ICE. China knows this and that's one of the reasons it's keeping these resources for their own industries.
There's no way other countries are unaware of this shortage, so why the mad rush to electrification? We've seen that California forced EV owners not to charge their vehicles when there was a strain on the electrical grid. This can happen anywhere and will when enough EVs place a critical demand on the grid, but I'm not hearing of a mad rush to construct more power-generating plants, do you? There isn't one because the intent is for a massive _reduction_ of available roadworthy vehicles in the future, not merely an EV-exclusive marketplace. My belief is that we are not heading into a future where there's no choice for the consumer to buy anything other than an EV. It's whether there will be _any_ new vehicles available for the common person. This topic is too broad and deep to discuss here. Search for 15-minute cities and what that means for everyone. The truth will be made evidently clear. It's all about the age-old struggle for *control* over populations by tyrannical means, nothing less and nothing more.

      @autofanaticcars  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for posting as you obviously get what’s going on with the big EV scam of save environment yet all this did was enrich the old decrepit politicians pockets with funneling money back to them. They lie lie lie yet the media and followers believe everything without seeing the hard facts or data. Now look at the looses the entire automotive industry is facing due to their continued lies. People need to wake up and continue to reject buying these overpriced paperweights that are as obsolete in short term as your current smartphone

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@naticcars Indeed, although I wish there was a simple solution to this problem. Governments and their puppet politicians are as compelled if not more so as the manufacturers. They're just higher up in the food chain because they hold legislative power and can coerce everyone below them. However, they're beholden to higher authorities such as supranational organizations like the WEF that are in turn mouthpieces of hidden powers wielded by a small number of elites who are the true policy makers. The EV controversy is only a part of a bigger picture that includes medical and financial transformations to society among others planned to take place in the not too distant future. It will be a grim outcome but only if we allow it.

without infrastructure and a secondary market the EV push is a complete failure by stupid government officials who have no grasp on reality. With EV values tanking 50% so quickly and fears of anyone buying a preowned EV with depleted batteries consumer confidence is nil and will continue to reject this nonsense. All it did was cost automakers billions of dollars in losses with forced mandates and the production of EV and Hybrid cars the general public refused to buy. The only ones who gained are these old half dead politicians who enforced and created this failing agenda. When China does it first then we can talk but North America and Europe are seeing the results of this failure right in front of our eyes, you can not object to the numbers and facts already out there. Now Porsche has to scramble and source non-sanctioned supplied chips and replace them in port. However it seems like it's just a delay, Porsche doesn't plan on re-routing any vehicles meant for the US market to any other markets...so the overall supply of vehicles won't be affected. The issue with the Tonale failure is they tried to use this bogus $7500 BS tax credit to lure in potential buyers however the tax credit goes back to the manufacture not the buyer or one who leases the car which makes the payments sky high for a sub compact hybrid SUV. the Stelvio is far better in every way let alone value. Another corporate mistake as they wait for a Govt bailout to get these Tonales off dealers lots. As they continue on the EV push that will never work long term or on a larger scale because consumers are not buying into the BS and the market proves that now.

Manufacturers keep spitting out $50-60-70-80k++ EVs. Just make a cheap, 200hp EV with 300 miles of range for 20-30k...they have proven they can be great for simple A-B transportation for the majority of people. Not everyone needs a 500+hp EV, and some people probably shouldnt have that kind of speed
    But they need to fix:
    1. Charging, too many vendors, standards, unreliable rates. Just pick a standard.
    2. Battery degradation/recycling. Battery swapping would fix this. Again, there needs to be a standard format like AA, AAA batteries..make battery swapping easy. Third parties take care of charging depleted batteries and recycling. This could also repurpose existing gas stations/infrastructure
One ICE engine block can theoretically be infinitely recyclable...it can be melted down and re-cast when its no longer rebuildable. when people are just consuming and tossing depleted EVs, which is actually better for the environment?
The EV industry will be stuck unless all manufacturers can agree on a way forward. Tesla holds a monopoly, but manufacturers are reluctant to give in to them.

I think it could have been a win-win, the only downside I could see would be the servicing long term, but depending on how they did it too there could've been govt discounts depending on where you got from, Rip to the Quadrifoglio, love the content

Supercars are doing cool hybrid things on their cars but long term will be a catastrophic repair to fix making them a very tough sell second hand. Alfa had enough issues without adding hybrid with their electronics and bad batteries

The QV weighs enough without hybrid powertrain and battery. Performance would not be as balanced.

Hybrid sport cars are terrible though bc once the battery is dead you are just pulling dead weight

That wouldn't work because the 2.9l powerplant still produces over 240g/km of CO2. That's how they're targeting the ICE engines. By legislating away their ability to emit CO2.

Stellantis is making the same mistake as Fiat. We buy alfa romeos not because they are the cheapest, or best mpg or most reliable cars in the market. Why make them into (expensive )consumer disposable? Just look at the passion of old alfa being restored n kept around the world.

Never understood the push to EV's not having a better lead from the government, as without infrastructure it's impossible to push out there. The headache with the rush to EV's by the manufacturers was they effectively stopped development of the ICE product lines. Seriously debating if I by a 2023 Giulia QV as I can still find them new for about 10k under MSRP in the midwest, just not sold on how far I am from service (90 minutes), and RWD in WI. On the verge of ordering a new 2025 M440i for a daily, but it's more then a 23 QV. I wouldn't touch a 2024 at all though, it's a one year model year with new lighting/dash, you have 0 shot of buying parts long term.

I've had e46 M3, C6 Z06, C7 stingray, e92 comp m3, F87 M2C, Giulia TI, GTI, and have tracked G80 M3/4 comps...(thermal club). I liked the M2C, liked the G80 on the track...but I when I drive my buddy's modern z4 and G82 4 banger I cannot stand the steering. I understand apples to oranges but if the steering is the same in the G80 (again, only driven on track) I'm out on BMW. How would you compare the steering feel of the Quad vs the G8X M? Or even against the F87 M2C if you've driven one...

funny one of the complaints on my G80 M3 RWD was the steering was too light and no feel even after I did mods to the caster arms and bushings it did not help. The X Drive does feel a touch heavier and better in my opnion but thats if you want a heavier AWD model. BMW took a 180 turn from the heavy fake steering of the F80 M3 and I think they tried to sorta copy the Alfa QV in a sense but the front suspension architecture on the BMW is a Macpherson strut design where as the Alfa is a double wishbone multi link and they feel so different. I love the steering on the Alfa QV one of the best youll ever get from an EPS system on a modern car today besides Porsche and Mclaren.

@@autofanaticcars Similar to what I’ve heard, other than modern Porsche or maybe the Emira (albeit still hydraulic) it’s up there with the best. Just simple freeway driving with the G80 felt like the steering wheel was connected to nothing. I wanted to get the last manual M3, perhaps ever, once they release the LCI but I’m just not feeling it. That of course leads you to 992 Carrera T but with must have options you’re at 130k and a wait list. Maybe the 24 Giulia is the way to go…or off the left field back to my days of Italian lightweight, manual, NA high revving engines…but with two wheels and from Bologna.

I had the G80 M3 Manual for 11 months check my channel for the content, great built and engineered car but it was too large for me, I hated the gearbox feel too rubbery and mine had the torture carbon buckets which was a huge mistake on a daily. the Porsche is the one to get if you can get an allocation and a fair price but the P cars are hammering so much above MSRP still it might not be worth the effort spending that much more, the QV is a steal for the money and the sum of the parts that went into the QV and the engineering is really special once you learn more about it. I suggest you go find one to test drive you might fall in love with it. got my eye on an Emira myself if I can get one I will but this is another car that seems impossible to get still

@@autofanaticcars Good advice, and I’ll check out your M3 video for sure. Thanks man. Engaging cars are definitely becoming more and more rare, to your point. The only silver lining is that the market shows there’s still a lot of demand for other engaging cars, even if Giulia sales don’t reflect that. If they just threw a crazy 100k powertrain warranty in there like the Korean brands did to get people over the perception, I think that would have helped volume.

I've hated the push for EV's for as long as it's been going on. Which is also why I jumped on the opportunity to by my 2023 Honda Civic Type-R for a good deal at the time when they first came out. I wanted a solidly built gas engine platform for my daily that's simple to maintain, and will last me forever if well maintained. What's hilarious are some of the used prices on these EV's...just look at the Porsche Taycan that's 3-4 years old. You can get them for 100K less used than their MSRP when new. Thats a 50%+ loss in value in just a couple of years. Meanwhile my Type-R will either stay close to the same or go up in value. The EV market is a total scam, in every way possible. They're not better cars, they're not better value, they don't last, they create more waste, cost the tax payers money for the subsidies, and they're not better for the environment (often far worse than gas engine vehicles). Total Scam. If the tech was so wonderful, the market would convert to it naturally, you wouldn't need subsidies and strict regulations to force it on people. The worst part is the people responsible for destroying our lives will never pay the price for their failures. Regular people will and do carry that burden instead.

In The UK health and safety rules, dictate that damaged EVs must be "quarantined" before assessment, and stored 15 meters clear of other cars and buildings, owning to the volatility of their batteries. This means that a forecourt where 100 ICEs chilled in safety, only 2 EVs can be stored.
The whole thing is mad. The only real winners are the Chinese who own 70% of EV specific supply chain and produce these milk floats with huge subsidies.
Regarding QVs, we will still have them in Europe. I'm rocking 2010 AlfaRomeo 159 1.75TB Ti, and I will keep her forever. I'm also looking for a reasonably priced 2020/22 Giulia QV.
    Awesome job, cheers.
