I'm really chuffed that you posted this, Carmen! I have wanted to see how it's done, after seeing the set up, (sans ox), in your forge. Those oxen have been to this party before. Amazing how they step up, and back. Fascinating to watch. Thanks so much!
Is it not possible to train a steer to stand for shoes like a horse? They both seem pretty gentle to be led into the stocks and slung. (Edit)Just imagine the oxen walking from St Louis to Oregon. There were no stocks on that trail. I know Texas trail cattle got sore-footed going a fraction of the distance barefooted.
Very well trained you can tell this isn’t there first rodeo as a dairy farmer we raised all our cattle to be able to halter lead and each cow had there own stanchion through their entire lives young stock being the exception when let out to clean the barn they would come back in and get in there own spot cattle are alot smarter than people give them credit
Handsonme boys got new shoes! What magnificent animals. Thanks for caring for them Carmen!

Never had any experience with oxen, are they a cross- breed or pure breed, if crossed what are they bred from?
11:06 Ol' Biggun should get a bait of green grass after behaving so well.

They look incredibly uncomfortable, why in this day and age would they do that to those animals?
