    Seen March 24, 2019,
27 years after this segment was filmed.
The manager had no idea within two years she'd be offline forever.
VOA , Mason, Ohio , played a very important rule in the field of American Communication's. Hopefully the history is being preserved today.
I grow up in Glendale, Ohio, and would drive up to Dayton, on I-75 North. One could see all the towers to the right of the highway. Coming home at night one could see all the Blue lights I believe was the color of them. You knew it was a very special place in the heartland of America.🇺🇸
    Thank you
From Los Angeles California USA, since 1987, a very pleasant good day.👍

I had a tour at about that time-frame when I lived almost across the street from the station. I don't remember our tour being as extensive as this one.
I do remember the transmitter bleeding into audio gear (first hand) and reports of people hearing sounds from their teeth braces. In addition, some of the gauges in our car went haywire at certain locations around the site.

I remember this site well in my travels. Passed it many times on the way to the Cincinnati ham fest in Strickers Grove back in the eighties. Had a friend (now a SK) who worked for the FCC and when he was in the area he would stop by and chat with the operators of the station, I wish I had the ability to record our conversations and stories he would tell. From what I remember from my last Hamvention I attended in 2006 we drove down I75 to look at some other places of interest and we passed by the site. No longer were the antenna arrays standing. Wonder what the Federal Government has done with the land that was home to the arrays….

As I watch this it's Feb 2023, I cast my mind back to my youth when The VOA was all over the shortwave here in the UK along with many others, I smile now and think of the many pro-mos they ran teaching English to anyone who wanted to learn it as it was seen then as 'essential ' if people wanted to emigrate to the USA. and indeed would run instruction on how to gain US citizenship. If it ware all up and running today would those pro-mos still be carrying the same message.
