From an amateur player, you nailed both the playing and the tune. It's not easy to play walking bass tunes with a pick, unlike many people say. Congratulations 👏
I’ve been playing now for about 9-10 years I think. And I’ve adapted to all different styles, from finger, to slap to pick. They are all useful for a number of things. This guy simply figured out the right pluck method with his pick. It may look animated but he’s doing a fantastic job of playing low and ringing out his notes. The real key to doing a walking bassline with a pick is to play about a half inch to an inch away from the bridge, and keep your forearm moving in tandem with your wrist. And like he does in the video. Keep your elbow out and away from the body. It’s gonna feel weird but after a few hours it’s noticeable how much better you plau
Hey mate! For this song I had it set as this: Drive 11:30, Bass 11:00, Treble 11:30, Presence 10:00, Blend 2:00, Level 1:30 (as if the positions were on a clock)
Start slow and breakdown each section! It may seem hard at first but the more you do it, the easier it gets and each song starts to come together much faster!
Great cover man! The sound of your bass is just amazin! So rough. Some people may say that a jazz bass is not suitable for harder types of rock music like Punk, but you proofed them wrong. I play the guitar and I always found some sounds of a single coil even more aggressive than a sound of a humbucker, for what reason I am playing a Telecaster. Now I want to learn bass too, so I plan to buy a Jazz Bass and you absolutely nailed the sound I want to achieve. If I understood correctly you are using no an amp, but is there amp you would recommend for getting this sound? Nice coulor of your bass btw !
I've had this J-Bass since I was 16 and I made it work! I have played a few P-basses in my time but always come back to this Jazz. I have a few pedals going to help EQ it to get the subtle hint of drive going on though.
Beautiful style. Esp your picking style. Great tone also. Is it all bridge pickup or a mixture? Awesome song. Awesome bass part. Fckn fellow Aussie no less 🤘
Both pickups are on full blast and I generally like the tone/physicality of playing on bridge pickup, anywhere closer to the neck and it starts to get too loose and too close to the bridge itself and it becomes too tight.
absolutely nailed this cover, great job! just one question: why are you in eb tuning? i think the original is in standard. Is it easier to play if tuned down?

Amazing tone and playing. BTW, what Fender Jazz bass is this, I'm looking for this color.
Hey man, this is just my American Standard Jazz, I picked it up new in a music store when I was 16.
