Canadian Tire Rules! I go there every time I cross the border to load up on winter washer fluid. It ain't cheap - $4 CDN per US gallon, but it's the best!
I used to live in Mississauga for 8 years but I have to correct the never part :) I lived in Toronto at Queen and Bathurst for six months and had a key so I stand corrected.
This is one thing I love about Canada. The prime minister is walking down the isles of Canadian Tire shopping and is NOT surrounded by bodyguards and hordes of people. (Though I'm sure there were members of the RCMP nearby.) Just imagine the American president trying to pick up a few things at Wallmart without a dozen secret service agents and a mob of people trying to get his autograph.
It Realy amazes me the Canadian trust in our fellow man, And one things for Certain, when it comes to Canadian politics, Were better at commedy naturaly then our American CounterParts.
@TheTurbinator Whats the old Canada? What do you miss, we still have a decent economy compared to the rest of the world, 2% less GST and other taxes too. Are there specific services you miss or what?
@yuri35435 I never spoke of the specifics of the scandal. I correctly credited it with contributing to the demise of the Liberal government. Accountability -- the response to the scandal -- was a key plank of the Conservative's 2006 election campaign, and the Accountability Act was one of the first bills passed (if not the first one) by the new Harper government.
At least he stood up to America!........Harper has learned Bush politics and offers Canada's resources on a h'or d'ourve platter to America, while he tries "schmoozing" and determining "what's in it" for Harper!
I love Canada and our politicians and leaders....most are such good sports about everything..I may disagree with most of them on what they do...but they are all great sports when it comes to this...I don't think you would fine a leader of a country just strolling around in a hardware store with a comedic television host...it is the same with the " Sleep over with the Harpers, " Rick also did...lol
@PoliticsStudent ...and indeed the whole accountability issue has come back to haunt Harper's Conservatives, at least to the minority of Canadians who bother to care about such issues.....
that s one thing I do love about living in Canada....you cant imagine Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert doing things like this with Obama or Bush or Clinton. Say what you want about our last few PMs but they were great sports about coming onto shows like this and poking fun at themselves
of course he had security, u just cant c them on camera. i met a rcmp body guard who has guarded all the PM"s he said Paul martin couldnt even go to the store to get a caisse of beer alone.
Canada made Mr Bush angry... He refuses any interview with CBC because... Rick Mercer made fun of him by saying the Prime Minister was Jean Poutine(It was then Jean Chretien).
Can't say I was a huge fan of Paul Martin but at least he didn't take long breaks to "focus on the Olympics" like some current prime minister's I know.....
Actually, I never paid much attention to Paul Martin, but his reaction to Ric's banter makes me wonder if I missed something Certainly the liberal's are nothing to write home about even if Canada post actually managed to deliver the letter, but compared to the last 12 thousand canucklehead poli types, he actually comes off looking pretty chilled
lol, the Prime Minister of Canada just gets out and walks around Canadian Tire. If that were the president of the US, there would need to be a plan made 3 months in advance, and security up the ass. I guess that just shows that people wont try and assasinate the PMlol. GO CANADA!!!
Only in Canada can you do such things with the biggest politician in the country. We'll never see Jon Stewart do this with Bush or any of his successors.
@jleb310ce Well, considering that Hardware Stores sells saws, knives and other lethal power tools, and putting into account of Bush's popularity when he lift office, who can blame him?
well said! I LOVE BE CANADIAN :) I am 31 and have never owned a key to my house...the doors been unlocked all my life regardless of where I have lived in this beautiful country :)
Not only would it be fun for that job (Mercer is awesoeme!) But poititians would like the publicity. Things like this make their names stick in peoples' heads.
martin was a good economist... he wanted to invest in small businesses and the fuel plant... he got slapped hard cuz of mr chretien... i didnt like chretien but martin seemed more like a man who can do a good job
And that's understandable, even from where I'm living in Southern Ontario I don't meet a lot of French Canadians either (well, either than during tourist season anyway). But I think using the term "frogs" to describe a large minority of Canadian citizens gets a little personal and is extremely rude.
Well hey, at least you can still visit your friendly and slightly ignorant and unaware neighbors to the south and shop there, because their dollar is being deflated even far more than yours! Thank you, Mr. Bush!
That was Brilliant!!!!!
i love paul martin
very amusing
Everyone seems to love Rick Mercer. :)
haha, I love this show.
This is the most Canadian thing I’ve ever seen!
Amen dude!
You gotta love Rick Mercer....
gotta love it :P
I liked it when he said " I wonder if there is a spot under this thing." He lifted it up and there was. lol
He's a good sport for a change
That's so cool that Paul said referred to Rick as his 'logical successor'.
LOL @ Spot in the carpet!
It's even better that our politicans are so willingly open to satirizing themselves.
belle qualité de vidange
What! You just hold on a gosh dang minute! lol
@anaphaxeon haha, the PM was travelling with an entire security entourage. you can see them in many scenes, even the motorcade.
Canadian Tire Rules! I go there every time I cross the border to load up on winter washer fluid. It ain't cheap - $4 CDN per US gallon, but it's the best!
@anaphaxeon You can see a few agents in the background.
So FUNNY
I miss the old Canada.
Half the people in the store certainly wouldn't be happy to see him that's for sure.
I can remeber when hockey night in Canada had the Leafs Habs, Talk about a croud, Man i miss those years where the teams were few and the talent MEGA.
...for whoever ends up living here...
I used to live in Mississauga for 8 years but I have to correct the never part :) I lived in Toronto at Queen and Bathurst for six months and had a key so I stand corrected.

haha " odd spot for a Inuit sculpture, I wonder if it is covering a spot" I looked for this clip just for that part lol.
lol.. there was a spot in the carpet!
only Rick Mercer can get our Prime Minister to troll a Canadian Tire commercial...too darn funny
LoL Good one!
I wonder if that stuff is still up Harper?
It Realy amazes me the Canadian trust in our fellow man, And one things for Certain, when it comes to Canadian politics, Were better at commedy naturaly then our American CounterParts.
Rick Mercer would make a great P.M.!!
@anaphaxeon I would have been like "Hey look!! It's Rick Mercer! Who's that guy he's with??"
`Wait so we BOTH drown?
- Yah me and you are gone
-.....Well there goes my logical succesor...`
ROFLLLLLLLLLL
That is a very nice thought but think of D'arcy McGee and of course, the FLQ crisis.
ya b ut colbert talked to bush at the white house thingy
@studentofsmith walking down the isles? i didnt know this hardware store was an archipelago
@TheTurbinator Whats the old Canada? What do you miss, we still have a decent economy compared to the rest of the world, 2% less GST and other taxes too. Are there specific services you miss or what?

Rick Mercer for PM!
only in Canada will a media personality goes to the PM house does an interview and ends up fixing up his house
haha thats so true
Nonsense Smokeg1972. I once saw a garden hose at CT that was made in Canada.
sheesh we call it Canadian Tire ONLY because it is run only within CANADA, and was started in CANADA...
I was just about to say something like that :P
haha you would've NEVER seen Bush walk into a hardware store with a tv host without security.
I love Canada!
haha, premie minister is walking through a canadian tire and no one notices him XD
I love Canada and our politicians and leaders....most are such good sports about everything..I may disagree with most of them on what they do...but they are all great sports when it comes to this...I don't think you would fine a leader of a country just strolling around in a hardware store with a comedic television host...it is the same with the " Sleep over with the Harpers, " Rick also did...lol

wow thats sad
@guystoners if Michael Ignatieff is a disaster (i must be so blind...he looks okay to me) then what does that say about Mr. Harper?
HAHAHA nice
@jeevanjot52
he doesn't have any bodyguards
lol rick gives him canadian tire money and tells him not to spend it all in one place! hahaha
The only PM in decades to have the balls to stand up to the US... we traded that guy for an American puppet in Harper.
Could we switch back please!
Victoria? XP
That was me btw, used brothers account by mistake.
"Don't spend it all in one place"
xD
hate Canadian tire money
that s one thing I do love about living in Canada....you cant imagine Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert doing things like this with Obama or Bush or Clinton. Say what you want about our last few PMs but they were great sports about coming onto shows like this and poking fun at themselves
Omg, they are wearing seatbelts. I want my ticket money back!!!
its good that our Prime Ministers aren't so hated like bush that they can freely walk around in public without fear of assisnation
Too bad they didn't come to the one I work at... Mind you, I live in an entirely different province...
I hated those canadian tire commercials. Rick Mercer is so respected in Canada because of his humour. woot
Im asking myself if thats the house for the Prime Minister or the house for Paul Martin...
LOLLOLOLO
of course he had security, u just cant c them on camera. i met a rcmp body guard who has guarded all the PM"s he said Paul martin couldnt even go to the store to get a caisse of beer alone.

dont spend it all in one place 3:46 its funny cause its Canadian tire money
I pay in Canadian Tire money, when I have it... Does that make me weird? O.o
I liked both Cretien and Martin. Canadian Liberal Politics in general tend to produce better results then their... Conservative counterparts...
Only in Canada can you do such things with the biggest politician in the country. We'll never see Jon Stewart do this with Bush or any of his successors.
this is like Steven Colbert taking George Bush to McDonalds or something...
They should have asked him what to do think of Jean Christen? I could see this face going all red. Otherwise he was a great finance minister.
what the fuck are happyland fun bucks its canadian tire money
@jleb310ce Well, considering that Hardware Stores sells saws, knives and other lethal power tools, and putting into account of Bush's popularity when he lift office, who can blame him?
Nobody makes Chinese racist slurs in Vancouver that I'm aware of..
lmfao
Was this filmed with a potatoe?
Try the real one instead of a hack one...th-cam.com/video/cEQeGJTwstY/w-d-xo.html

try living in toronto...XD
Ha ha... anyone know why he said "some commercials".
yikes.
Martin looked uncomfortable. Probably the first time being in a crappy tire store.
haha mercer is the man. Hilarious that Martin wouldn't answer the PM question.. typical politician
Paul Martin was the best prime minister we've had. Too bad he's gone.
Iggy is a disaster.
@mikefastener Liberal party might have a chance if Justin Trudeau leads the party.
inflated** whoops.

ROFL
Chretien was not competent. AdScam....
rick mercer stinks the big one he just doesn't know what he's talking about
