I actually just came back from the theatre. The movie was top quality as expected. What it was not is a petrol head or car lover movie. I was hoping for more, but it was all about Enzo living a double life while trying to keep his beloved company afloat and able to carry on racing.
Interesting review. I still haven't seen the movie yet but I can't wait till it's finally in theatres near me. I liked the trailer but I'm a bit disappointed to see Enzo and his wife arguing in English instead of Italian.
I've not got to a cinema yet to watch it, what knowledge I have of Ferrari during that period comes from the documentary "Ferrari - Race to Immortality" which I highly recommend. Think you're right about the film in terms of the comments being split in two, those that appreciate the film work that went into the film and enjoyed the whole developed product, and those who just weren't fans of the story that was told. Personally I think the story of Ferrari is so great that we can have multiple different films covering different aspects of it without it being a problem. I'd love to see one on the early years. First seeing Fiat's racing in 1908 in the Rome(?) Grand Prix. The utter disaster for the family that was WW1. Getting turned down by Fiat when he was discharged from military service. Working for Alfa Romeo and his racing years before running his own race team and the appearance of the prancing horse on his Alfa's in the 30's. It may never happen but I can hope 😄. Considering the cost of cars they had to borrow to make the racing scenes on this film (Up to 40 cars on set, some of them costing between 10 and 40 million $) including the original 1957 Mille Miglia winner, they might have an even harder time finding ones from the 20's and 30's... although I always love it when I see an Alfa with a Ferrari badge in the wild but that's somewhat off topic 😄. For a first podcast, that's good work 👍
