Nice Video, but how many artists can you upload with tunecore? (for features) because i am using Distrokid and I cant apply a feature anymore because i used all of my artists
Hello I have a question no one seems to have the answer to. I originally subscribed to the label plan (5 to 10 artists) then a year later by mistake, when trying to renew my subscription (I didn’t know it had already renewed automatically) they accepted my “second”payment as an upgrade payment and put me on the label plus account (10-20 artists)! So currently I’m paying a fortune yearly and every time a released is renew I am charged with the extras too. I’m desperate and don’t know what to do!!! So frustrating! I know the only way to downgrade is by canceling my current label account and subscribing again, but this time I would subscribe to the musician plus account. Do you know if I was to do this, will I have to pay for all the uploads individually again? I have 7 releases of my own and 26 from other artist. That will be a fortune for me to pay at once! Hopefully I can find someone with this experience to walk me through.
@@wordplaytjay Thank you so much for replying!!! Much appreciated! ‼️PLEASE TAKE NOTE‼️ I already tried reaching out since last year right when it happened with no success, to ask how it all would work out, but there’s no one available only bots. The only option I found on the hundreds of articles they reply with, was to cancel and subscribe again, then re upload. No option to transfer anything. 😕
You said “by withdrawl” but everyone is failing to mention the 3 month delay period between when your song was streamed to receive your royalties for those streams
@@wordplaytjay Well, they advertise that they provide this. They don’t. Or they don’t any longer. If you’re selling something and list your deliverables- then f-ing deliver. They advertise customer service response time as 1-2 days. Um, there is no way to contact them, outside of snail mail. No email, no phone, just a chat-bot that sends you into an infinite loop of frustration. I could go on if you like. But for these reasons alone - hard pass. One more thing on the Spotify artist access: When I try to obtain access to my artist page through Spotify channels - Spotify recognizes that my account is associated with TuneCore and tells me they will provide me this access and to go through them. So yeah. Here we are.
@@Daniel_Plainview I did finally get access directly through Spotify. I had to create a new Spotify account and then go through their verification process to get access. This was a year ago though. Tunecore has since updated their website - so maybe they have rectified this issue.
Hi i have a question about uploading with distributors... what if i go ahead with content id with lets say tunecore.. and then whem i upload my musicvideo to youtube after that, i get a copyright Claim? Do i upload my vid to youtube first and then register to the distributor? What is the best way to go about it? Also my music is serbian, distrokid doesnt have serbian language as an option.. does the language of the music an affect on whie distibutor i use? Does tunecore have serbian as an option for language? Any help is appreciated thanks!
If you want to use content ID but not get a claim on your channel your distributor can possibly “white list” your channel so your music video doesn’t get flagged. Some distributors can do this and some cannot. I don’t know which distributors work with people outside of the states. Go to that distributor’s website and look for their help section to find out.
With Tunecore, I don’t need to sign up with Songtrust, but I’d still need to sign up for BMI, & SoundExchange to get all of my Publishing & royalties correct??
Thanks for the video! This is the first time I've seen the price for Tunecore Publishing, so much appreciated. According to Apple Music, Tunecore doesn't provide lyrics submission for them. But Tunecore's own support page (article: "Uploading Lyrics") claims that Apple Music is the ONLY DSP to which they distribute lyrics. So I'm thoroughly confused. Do you have firsthand experience with their lyrics distribution? Thanks again!
you are the only person on youtube or anywhere that has made the distinction on fee comparison of content ID on Tunecore vs Distrokid. I have been searching the net endlessly to find out whether it was possible to opt into Content ID for all uploaded music with one subcription, and you have answered the question, thank you. So with TuneCore we can opt in for everything with just the 10 per year right?
everybody starts at zero. pick a distributor that’s best for y’all and start sharing the link to your music. sharing your work is how you get more fans.
Is it true that Distrokid pays less money than Tunecore because Distrokid has to go through a middle man(Merlin) first and that middle man takes a cut of the money and then sends the rest to Distrokid and then Distrokid pays the artist? But Tunecore works directly with the music platforms so they don't have to go through a middle man that takes a cut of your money. Is this true?
@@wordplaytjay But see that's the thing... Distrokid is saying they don't take any of they money they recieve AFTER they get it from the middle-man (Merlin). So the question is.. is there someone that collects the money before it gets to Distrokid and how much do they take before the give it to Distrokid? This may be the reason some artist say they have earned more money from Tunecore than Distrokid.
There are a few places that collect revenue from sales and streams before it gets back to Distrokid. iTunes is an example of that. They take 30% of downloads before it comes back to you. I'm too far out of the know to list other scenarios like that.
@WordPlay T. Jay I think you're still kinda missing what I'm saying, read this... "This is where things get REALLY interesting when comparing Distrokid vs Tunecore. Both companies pay out all of the royalties and sales they collect to the artists - you get 100% of what they collect. But that’s not the full story here. TuneCore, thanks to their dominance in the industry, is able to negotiate directly with music platforms. Most other distribution companies can’t do that. What that means for you as an artist is that you get 100% OF WHAT THE STORE PAYS OUT. Since companies like DistroKid aren’t able to work directly with stores, they work with middlemen (in DistroKid’s case, they work with a company called Merlin to collect payouts). Unfortunately middlemen take a cut before it gets to DistroKid. So yes, DistroKid pays out 100% of the money they receive from Merlin - but they don’t receive 100% of what the stores pay out. So in essence, TuneCore’s payouts to artists are better. In fact, in their history, they’ve paid out over $2,000,000,000.00 to artists. (Yup, that’s 2 BILLION dollars)
it’s best to find one person you know and trust and pay them to market for you. They need to be able to prove they can do a good job, and they need to be knowledgeable. Use social media to search or ask a friend
