Excellent video with great captions. Well done! Took me back to when Aer Lingus operated the older version the BAe146 on the UK regional services. It was very pleasant little aircraft to fly IMHO.

Great report as per usual! Funnily enough I flew RJD twice in January, one of those flights also in 2A! Back then she was plain white and very dirty, she looks brand spanking new now! Love the classic Avroliner buzz as well!

It's a strange sensation to recognize a place where you have never been haha I was jump-sitting and with the uniform so, of course, I wasn't recording anything, so another strange sensation was that: being in an airport without recording anything! @@BlakeEdgington Well, actually is not the cockpit jumpseat. We call it that way but it's just flying in the cabin (provided there is any seat available) or in the cabin crew jumpseats. By the way, next week I'm flying a very similar route as you did with Thomas Cook, to Menorca from East Midlands. After some other flights, I will be returning from Mallorca to Birmingham with Jet2. And, the most ridiculous thing: BHX-Belfast-EMA with FlyBe for 40 pounds!! haha I'm really looking forward to those flights! When are you doing your trip to USA? I'm working on a project, difficult but not impossible, that's flying to USA just to fly on the AA MD80 before they retire it in September. It would be amazing...

What a great day you picked to fly and film. So little cloud coverage , so to be able to see land for most of the flight was really great. Even the cumulus clouds when arriving into Birmingham looked good. As for Dublin Airport if you travel at peak morning times the queues from check in, through security ( where in my experience they can be quite rude and abrasive ) , USA pre clearance etc, you need to give yourself lots of time. They really need to do something about it. I think your flight was an afternoon flight , so you may have missed the morning mayhem. As for the aircraft , well, I prefer 4 engines to 2 on any aircraft. Makes me feel mor secure...ha,ha..Great video..Cheers, g

I passed the safety control really fast and had plenty of time to record all the planes that appear on this video. Of course, I didn't have to pass any USA pre-clearance. Thanks for the info about it because I'm planning to fly to USA in autumn and it's probable that I will go from Dublin. Wish you a nice Sunday! :)
@@OnBoardHD Hi Lucas. The morning flights to the US from Dublin can cause big queues at the pre clearance. You could be lucky on the day though....and excuse the pun..but fly through. But my advice is to check in , go through security , and US immigration and then use the lounge when you get through the other side of that. At that stage you can relax. I'm from Dublin myself. Also Google Platinum services lounge at Dublin Airport. It's kind of a VIP offering. You might like it. It's expensive though and doesn't take airline loyalty cards...Safe flying..g

En 2001 fuimos de Estambul a Ankara con Turkish airlines en un A310 y a la vuelta nos trajeron en un Avro RJ100, fue una agradable sorpresa. Nunca más volví a volar en uno, pero si lo fotografié con mi cámara de carrete. Muy buena la calidad de tus vídeos. Felicidades.

@@OnBoardHD Hi thanks for your reply...I think I have already left a comment on your RegioJet video a few months ago😅 I live not far from Orly airport and I can see planes landing through my window sometimes...But my wife is always afraid of taking those 'smaller' size aircraft so although we travelled a lot we didn't fly too often. Instead we've already taken trains on almost every railway line in France (and of course quite a lot in other countries including Spain).

I love the Avro and never flown on its but saw it’s personally back in 1985-87 at ORD ( Chicago ) as Air Wisconsin ( a United Airlines feeder carrier at the time) and love the sound of the engines
I flew to Edinburgh onboard the avro RJ 86 back in the mid 90s when aer Lingus commuter operated the type ( back in the 90s it was called the BAE 146) I still fly with aer Lingus as they are an excellent airline, the atr 72 is also a great aircraft

Fantástico vuelo con el Jumbolino como le llamábamos en Iberia en Lanzarote y Botijo por su diseño de los motores monta los AVCO Lycoming LF507 con sistema FADEC , una curiosidad de la familia de los AVRO es la ausencia de reversa debido al pequeño tamaño de los motores y del aparato en su lugar monta aerofrenos en la parte superior de las alas y un aerofreno de cola tipo pétalo similar a los Fokker F28 Fellowship, Fokker 70 y Fokker 100 Min 15:48 la toma es muy típica de los Jumbolinos debido a su pequeño tamaño y sensibilidad a la hora de aterrizar sobre todo cuando se tiene viento La familia de los AVRO RJ-70, RJ-85 y el RJ 100 descienden del Bae 146-300 fueron muy populares en los 90 pero los Embraer RJ y los ATR junto a los Bombardier los han ido desplazando de muchas aerolíneas, aun en América Latina siguen volando algunos de ellos La británica Debonair tuvo un buen puñado de Jumbolinos para vuelos regionales junto a varios B737 y alguno se dejaba caer en Canarias, la difunta Pauknair española tuvo dos Jumbolinos en servicio junto a Meridiana lineas aéreas Una de las prestaciones que han hecho famosos a los Jumbolinos ha sido su facilidad para despegar en pistas cortas y su bajo consumo siendo de 4 motores sobre todo en las series RJ del Bae 146 equipados con FADEC como el RJ-85 Cuesta ahora mucho de hacer foto a estos Jumbolinos cada vez quedan menos de ellos en servicio Digno de notar que el prototipo del Bae 146 tenia la matricula G-SHHH debido a su bajo nivel de ruido de sus Avco Lycoming LF 502 ( La serie RJ modernizada descendiente del Bae 146 monta los LF-507 con sistema de control de combustible FADEC) El Jumbolino es muy silencioso mas que el ATR-72 tanto dentro como fuera, tiene un zumbido en los motores como una mosca Es un avión que crea una curiosa relación amor- odio como mencionas en el vídeo, o lo amas o lo odias por su aspecto extraño sobre todo Airbus A330-300 con las trampillas abiertas del tren para revisión 1:29 para abrir las trampillas hay un panel justo al lado de las mismas este panel se abre liberando las trabas que lo cierran y al abrirlo hay un macho en forma de maneta que libera la presión hidráulica del circuito de las trampillas, dejándolas caer por gravedad este macho esta blocado y asegurado con un pasador de seguridad y una brida metálica , el cual se debe liberar para poder girar el macho y abrir las trampillas, para volver a cerrarlas y armar el conjunto se vuelve a cerrar el circuito hidráulico de las trampillas girando el macho y blocarlo con el pasador de seguridad y volver a pasar la brida metálica por el orificio del pasador una vez colocado en su sitio
Good video 👍 of course i like it. I used them from Paris to Zurich with Crossair in 1999, 2000, period. It was Avro RJ85 or RJ 100(jumbolino) a good jet for stol procedure and the most little regional jet 4 engines (reactor) i think😉

I could have sworn I saw 3-3 seat arrangement. The video says 2-3. 3-3 is tight on that plane. I’ve flown from Flint to Detroit in that config, some years back. Not nice.

Que buen reporte y que hermosos paisajes al aterrizar. De esos aviones, sí no me equivoco, los tuvo la extinta aerolínea colombiana SAM y, éstos producían un sonido similar al del DC10, como un aullido aunque no tan pronunciado como el DC10. Una pregunta: esos AVRO no tienen inversores de empuje?

@@OnBoardHD The Avro is quite bizarre in that the last 2 or 3 rows always have the 2-3 config, whether the rest of the cabin is 3-3 or 2-3. Great little plane!

I agree with both things! haha The old Aer Lingus livery was really nice, but it needed an update. I think they managed to maintain the essence of the livery while giving the airline a modern look. The fact that they've painted the Avros with the new livery probably means that they want to operate them for some more years. Jajaja Clasicazo se le queda pequeño!! jaja Estoy planificando el mayor reto del canal hasta la fecha: viajar a USA para volar en el MD80 antes de Septiembre, momento en el que American Airlines lo retirará del servicio. No se yo si será posible, pero desde luego es apasionante y marcaría un punto de inflexión en el canal. Veremos si es posible... pero serái increíble, no crees? jaja Respecto a NEO de IB o VY... Yo sigo sin que me toque ninguno jaja Ya he volado unas cuantas veces con ambas desde que los tienen y nada de nada... La semana que viene hago un BCN-PMI con VY pero es en A321. @@josegranelcarreto5366 Lo de la aventura por USA va tomando forma, pero para llegar a USA va a ser complicado hacerlo con American, Delta o United. Tienen unos precios desorbitados. Sin embargo, tanto Nowegian como LEVEL se postulan como claros candidatos. Iberia, usando algún Avio que tengo por ahí también suena bien. Veremos que se puede hacer...
De los aviones para vuelos regionales/corto radio, es el que más me llamo siempre la atención, por su pequeño tamaño y la peculiaridad de llevar 4 motores. Esta es tu primera vez en un Avro? Porque es la primera vez que te veo montar y volar en uno! Saludos y buen video!

Es el mismo tipo de avión que el del fatidico LaMia 2933, a mi personalmente me gustan estos aparatos tretramotores pero creo que les quedan los días contados... PD: buen video, como siempre!

I flew the Jumbolino years ago back when it was in a 2-3 configuration throughout the cabin, and that was great and by far the most comfortable flight I've ever been on. A couple of years back I flew it again in a 3-3 and that was the least comfortable flight I've ever been on so I have mixed feelings about it XD
I had an idea that the Jumbolino was 2-3, and that's why I put it on the video. But it's actually a 3-3 configuration, as you say. Thanks for sharing your experience! I hope you've enjoyed the video! It will be easier to read, and I will modify a little bit the colours as well. Because they don't have the same orientation. The planes have to takeoff towards the wind, so while in one runway they are facing the wind, on the other is crosswind. I hope you've enjoyed the video! :)
Muchas gracias!! Pues mi vuelo más largo fue Madrid-Cancún en un A330-300 de la ya desaparecida Orbest (la división Española) justo el verano antes a empezar con el canal. Por eso no tenemos vídeo de él. Desde que comencé el canal, mi vuelo más largo fue Tenerife Sur a Varsovia, con Ryanair. Un vuelo de más de 4.100 km jeje Espero poder hacer algún transatlántico antes de que acabe el año! :)
Pues eso, no tenia ife, mi asiento estaba roto y no se reclinaba, el servicio de la aerolinea pesimo, no me di comido lo que nos sirvieron. Para mas inri, al ser orbest era un charter de turistas de touropeador, por ende la mitad del pasaje iba medio bebido montando un escandalo de cuidado... Recuerdo llegar de vuelta de Jamaica a Barajas y al dia siguiente embarcar hacia Osaka en el 744 de Lufthansa, aquello era como comparar a dios con un gitano. Por cierto, enhorabuena por tu canal y el gran crecimiento que tiene, me alegra ver a un paisano de scq triunfar de esta manera en lo que es su pasion. Saludos

Respeco a Orbest, la verdad es que mi experiencia fue muy distinta. Cierto es que no tenía IFE, aunque la verdad no lo eché en falta. Tamibén es verdad que íbamos de viaje de carrera unos 20 compañeros, con lo que el viaje se hizo muy entretenido. Saludos! :)

Great report as per usual! Funnily enough I flew RJD twice in January, one of those flights also in 2A! Back then she was plain white and very dirty, she looks brand spanking new now! Love the classic Avroliner buzz as well!

Yesterday I was again in BHX, flying home for 2 days after 4 weeks in EMA, and it was a really strange feeling: it was my first time departing from Birmingham airport, but I felt like I was there several times there... of course, it was because of your videos. It's a strange sensation to recognize a place where you have never been haha
I was jump-sitting and with the uniform so, of course, I wasn't recording anything, so another strange sensation was that: being in an airport without recording anything! I can't remember the last time! haha
On the way back I'm flying with Lauda and FLyBe, so I will go back to the usual feelings! :D

@@BlakeEdgington Well, actually is not the cockpit jumpseat. We call it that way but it's just flying in the cabin (provided there is any seat available) or in the cabin crew jumpseats.
By the way, next week I'm flying a very similar route as you did with Thomas Cook, to Menorca from East Midlands. After some other flights, I will be returning from Mallorca to Birmingham with Jet2. And, the most ridiculous thing: BHX-Belfast-EMA with FlyBe for 40 pounds!! haha

See you had sunshine again. How do you do it? It always rains in Ireland, at least when go there. Fell in love with this little plane when we we flew to Jersey years ago, and they are still around. I used to travel on this type frequently in Eastern Canada in the early 1990s. I loved the space and the fabulous views unobstructed by wings!

This was my first flight on the Avro. Actually, it's really difficult to find them in Europe nowadays. I must say that it was an unforgettable experience. I loved the feeling of seeing 2 engines on the wing in such a small plane haha

What a great day you picked to fly and film. So little cloud coverage , so to be able to see land for most of the flight was really great. Even the cumulus clouds when arriving into Birmingham looked good. As for Dublin Airport if you travel at peak morning times the queues from check in, through security ( where in my experience they can be quite rude and abrasive ) , USA pre clearance etc, you need to give yourself lots of time. They really need to do something about it. I think your flight was an afternoon flight , so you may have missed the morning mayhem. As for the aircraft , well, I prefer 4 engines to 2 on any aircraft. Makes me feel mor secure...ha,ha..Great video..Cheers, g

Oh, I didn't know about those problems with the queues in the safety checks. Actually, I was flying from Bratislava to Dublin that morning. I passed the safety control really fast and had plenty of time to record all the planes that appear on this video.
Of course, I didn't have to pass any USA pre-clearance. Thanks for the info about it because I'm planning to fly to USA in autumn and it's probable that I will go from Dublin.

@@OnBoardHD Hi Lucas. The morning flights to the US from Dublin can cause big queues at the pre clearance. You could be lucky on the day though....and excuse the pun..but fly through. But my advice is to check in , go through security , and US immigration and then use the lounge when you get through the other side of that. At that stage you can relax. I'm from Dublin myself. Also Google Platinum services lounge at Dublin Airport. It's kind of a VIP offering. You might like it. It's expensive though and doesn't take airline loyalty cards...Safe flying..g

Currently, I'm planning a trip to the States just for flying on the American Airlines MD80 before it gets retired in September. It's not an easy flight as the Europeans ones, but definitely worth the experience.

Flew on one several times between Manchester and Zurich. Loved them, but they did have the advantage that Swiss installed a 2+3 seating arrangement.
I just flew the Avro this time... and it was a very nice experience hehe

I live not far from Orly airport and I can see planes landing through my window sometimes...But my wife is always afraid of taking those 'smaller' size aircraft so although we travelled a lot we didn't fly too often. Instead we've already taken trains on almost every railway line in France (and of course quite a lot in other countries including Spain).

I love the Avro and never flown on its but saw it’s personally back in 1985-87 at ORD ( Chicago ) as Air Wisconsin ( a United Airlines feeder carrier at the time) and love the sound of the engines
I just flew once on the Avro (the one in this video) and I would love to repeat...
I flew to Edinburgh onboard the avro RJ 86 back in the mid 90s when aer Lingus commuter operated the type ( back in the 90s it was called the BAE 146) I still fly with aer Lingus as they are an excellent airline, the atr 72 is also a great aircraft
It's really sad that the pandemic was the last stone that needed the Avro to completely dissapear... what a nice and different plane!

Fantástico vuelo con el Jumbolino como le llamábamos en Iberia en Lanzarote y Botijo por su diseño de los motores monta los AVCO Lycoming LF507 con sistema FADEC , una curiosidad de la familia de los AVRO es la ausencia de reversa debido al pequeño tamaño de los motores y del aparato en su lugar monta aerofrenos en la parte superior de las alas y un aerofreno de cola tipo pétalo similar a los Fokker F28 Fellowship, Fokker 70 y Fokker 100
Min 15:48 la toma es muy típica de los Jumbolinos debido a su pequeño tamaño y sensibilidad a la hora de aterrizar sobre todo cuando se tiene viento
La familia de los AVRO RJ-70, RJ-85 y el RJ 100 descienden del Bae 146-300 fueron muy populares en los 90 pero los Embraer RJ y los ATR junto a los Bombardier los han ido desplazando de muchas aerolíneas, aun en América Latina siguen volando algunos de ellos
La británica Debonair tuvo un buen puñado de Jumbolinos para vuelos regionales junto a varios B737 y alguno se dejaba caer en Canarias, la difunta Pauknair española tuvo dos Jumbolinos en servicio junto a Meridiana lineas aéreas
Una de las prestaciones que han hecho famosos a los Jumbolinos ha sido su facilidad para despegar en pistas cortas y su bajo consumo siendo de 4 motores sobre todo en las series RJ del Bae 146 equipados con FADEC como el RJ-85
Cuesta ahora mucho de hacer foto a estos Jumbolinos cada vez quedan menos de ellos en servicio
Digno de notar que el prototipo del Bae 146 tenia la matricula G-SHHH debido a su bajo nivel de ruido de sus Avco Lycoming LF 502 ( La serie RJ modernizada descendiente del Bae 146 monta los LF-507 con sistema de control de combustible FADEC)
El Jumbolino es muy silencioso mas que el ATR-72 tanto dentro como fuera, tiene un zumbido en los motores como una mosca
Es un avión que crea una curiosa relación amor- odio como mencionas en el vídeo, o lo amas o lo odias por su aspecto extraño sobre todo
Airbus A330-300 con las trampillas abiertas del tren para revisión 1:29 para abrir las trampillas hay un panel justo al lado de las mismas este panel se abre liberando las trabas que lo cierran y al abrirlo hay un macho en forma de maneta que libera la presión hidráulica del circuito de las trampillas, dejándolas caer por gravedad este macho esta blocado y asegurado con un pasador de seguridad y una brida metálica , el cual se debe liberar para poder girar el macho y abrir las trampillas, para volver a cerrarlas y armar el conjunto se vuelve a cerrar el circuito hidráulico de las trampillas girando el macho y blocarlo con el pasador de seguridad y volver a pasar la brida metálica por el orificio del pasador una vez colocado en su sitio
Good video 👍 of course i like it. I used them from Paris to Zurich with Crossair in 1999, 2000, period. It was Avro RJ85 or RJ 100(jumbolino) a good jet for stol procedure and the most little regional jet 4 engines (reactor) i think😉

I could have sworn I saw 3-3 seat arrangement. The video says 2-3. 3-3 is tight on that plane. I’ve flown from Flint to Detroit in that config, some years back. Not nice.

Actually, every day changes. The gates are not always used for the same destinations at all.

Que buen reporte y que hermosos paisajes al aterrizar. De esos aviones, sí no me equivoco, los tuvo la extinta aerolínea colombiana SAM y, éstos producían un sonido similar al del DC10, como un aullido aunque no tan pronunciado como el DC10.
Una pregunta: esos AVRO no tienen inversores de empuje?

The old Aer Lingus livery was really nice, but it needed an update. I think they managed to maintain the essence of the livery while giving the airline a modern look.
The fact that they've painted the Avros with the new livery probably means that they want to operate them for some more years. Great news, don't you think? :)

Respecto a NEO de IB o VY... Yo sigo sin que me toque ninguno jaja Ya he volado unas cuantas veces con ambas desde que los tienen y nada de nada...
La semana que viene hago un BCN-PMI con VY pero es en A321. Así que una ves más, nada de nada jaja

Sin embargo, tanto Nowegian como LEVEL se postulan como claros candidatos. Iberia, usando algún Avio que tengo por ahí también suena bien. Veremos que se puede hacer...
De los aviones para vuelos regionales/corto radio, es el que más me llamo siempre la atención, por su pequeño tamaño y la peculiaridad de llevar 4 motores.

Así es, es el mismo modelo de avión. Una pena el accidente de Colombia, pero fue debido a error humano, así que nada que reporochar al avión.

Actually, I'm not staying in Birmingham, I'm flying there and then going to East Midlands, where I'm doing my training.
Tomorrow I'm flying again to BHX with FlyBe and next week with Jet2.

I flew the Jumbolino years ago back when it was in a 2-3 configuration throughout the cabin, and that was great and by far the most comfortable flight I've ever been on. A couple of years back I flew it again in a 3-3 and that was the least comfortable flight I've ever been on so I have mixed feelings about it XD
I had an idea that the Jumbolino was 2-3, and that's why I put it on the video. But it's actually a 3-3 configuration, as you say.

I'm sorry that I didn't answer before. I was flying (recording flights for the channel) during the last couple of days and I could not enter TH-cam.
I think it's what every channel should do. At the end of the day, read people's opinions is the best way you have to improve and to know which kind of content you should deliver.

Thanks for the feedback, Aidan. Actually, it's the first time that I get that (maybe the second..). Anyway, I'm searching now for a new font, one that will look more "professional". It will be easier to read, and I will modify a little bit the colours as well.
For now, the next videos will be done exactly with the same font and colours like this one because I have several videos already edited and scheduled.

Oh wow I was just here a week ago. Anyone know why they only use 1 of 2 runways ?
Because they don't have the same orientation.
The planes have to takeoff towards the wind, so while in one runway they are facing the wind, on the other is crosswind.

Pues mi vuelo más largo fue Madrid-Cancún en un A330-300 de la ya desaparecida Orbest (la división Española) justo el verano antes a empezar con el canal. Por eso no tenemos vídeo de él.
Desde que comencé el canal, mi vuelo más largo fue Tenerife Sur a Varsovia, con Ryanair. Un vuelo de más de 4.100 km jeje Espero poder hacer algún transatlántico antes de que acabe el año! :)

Yo la verdad lo recuerdo como cualquier otro A330, eso sí, sin pantallas en los asientos.
Pues eso, no tenia ife, mi asiento estaba roto y no se reclinaba, el servicio de la aerolinea pesimo, no me di comido lo que nos sirvieron. Para mas inri, al ser orbest era un charter de turistas de touropeador, por ende la mitad del pasaje iba medio bebido montando un escandalo de cuidado... Recuerdo llegar de vuelta de Jamaica a Barajas y al dia siguiente embarcar hacia Osaka en el 744 de Lufthansa, aquello era como comparar a dios con un gitano. Por cierto, enhorabuena por tu canal y el gran crecimiento que tiene, me alegra ver a un paisano de scq triunfar de esta manera en lo que es su pasion. Saludos

Respeco a Orbest, la verdad es que mi experiencia fue muy distinta. Cierto es que no tenía IFE, aunque la verdad no lo eché en falta. Tamibén es verdad que íbamos de viaje de carrera unos 20 compañeros, con lo que el viaje se hizo muy entretenido.
