Snipe hunting is one of my main staples man, along with ducks, doves, and squirrels. To me, snipe are the last of Louisiana’s upland game, making it all the more special. I love to burn their ass with a Savage 16 gauge in cow pastures and crawfish ponds. Love the channel!

You are very luckyin Louisiana. Here in Southern Alberta they leave during early Oct, after a hard frost You see, they feed almost entirely on earthworma, just like woodcock. In my opinion , they are the hardest bird on the wing!
It's like the deer knows he's not in season. I always see stuff I'm not hunting for. Today I saw a snipe while I was looking for duck. My son was like "Why didn't you shoot him?" He was right. At least we'd have caught something.Oh, yeah, it is hard to walk in a swamp. Lots of holes and logs.

Here in Florida we hunt snipe also, we have a saying on shooting them. When they jump up about 4ft. they shit and then they do the darting and the saying is shoot him before he shits cause if he shits he's gone.
We would say when they jump up if you didn`t shoot them before they take a DUMP you wouldn`t hit them . They are good to eat and when you down one don`t takes your eyes off of it or you will loose it .
