Great video as usual thanks for taking the time to do these detailed tutorials. A suggestion for a video would be lower control arm replacement for 2016 rx350 if possible. Thanks again!
Hi there , apologies for the question! I do have Lexus RX450h from 2012 / and I do have a (GRINDING/RaTLING noise ) only on cold start for no more than 5/8 seconds-mechanics are just unable to say what that would be - we did changed sparking plugs also timing chain was checked - it has been serviced always on time - Lexus mechanics are also unable to say what may be . maybe you have been across this issues with other RX vehicles. Thank you!
I have seen this issue on the 3.5L V6 caused by one of the camshaft vvti gears/actuators being worn out/faulty. I don't know if that is what's causing your issue, but that's the only thing that comes to mind.
another great video .... for this procedure, does the car need to be up in the air? .... would this be possible with the car on it's wheels, like on ramps ?
Thank you for sharing. The next chance you have 2010-2015 RX, please let us know, as an informational video, what else could cause rattling (rear or front). God bless you.
I have to try to check it closely, but with just hand it doesn’t play up and down yet, but turns on joint pretty easy. I got only 75000 miles on 2016 rx. The noise just started on rough road.
Hey Victor. Let me ask Your advice. I have got a rear coil spring on my RX 450h 2010 broken. Unfortunately there is no analog available and price for OEM is a bit unacceptable :) Considering replacement by spring for Highlander 2.7. XU50 What do You think?
@@GP-ne5xs it will probably fit, but spring rates might be different, so it may lean to one side. I’d look for a used spring from a low mileage RX450h.
Pull up and down hard on the sway bar and see if there is any play in the bushings or links. If they are tight, it could be a shock or a trailing arm bushing.
it looks great. I have an active stabilizer suspension in my Lexus RX450h from 2013. The service center said it needed to be replaced. I bought a used one and after replacing it, when I turn the steering wheel, I hear a humming noise from the rear. After a dozen or so kilometers, check active stabilizer suspension system light comes on. After the light comes on, there is no longer any humming noise when turning the steering wheel, as if the rear stabilizer had turned off. Do you have any idea what's going on? Maybe this active anti-roll bar needs to be programmed into the Lexus? Thank you in advance for your help
My nx200t whenever I start the car over a hump, I hear creaking sound . As if something is loose . Coming from the driver side . What could be an issue? Do I need to replace all these ? 1) steering rack 2)drive shaft cover 3) stab linkage 4) front absorber mounting 5)anti roll bar bush Thanks
Well, I wouldn’t replace ALL of those, just the one causing the noise. It’s unlikely to be the steering rack or driveshaft. You may want to take it in for professional diagnosis, it’s impossible for me to diagnose the source of the noise over the internet without being there in person to listen to it.
Hi Viktor, I plan to replace my 2010 RX350 water pump. I know how to do it, but don't know the torque specs for the engine mounts locations (upper left and bottom left) . Apparently, we need to undo a few of these engine mount bolts to jack the engine up a bit on its timing chain side so we can slide the new/old water pump thru. Also, Could you please help me with the torque specs for the 4 bolts holding the black pulley wheel to the water pump? Cheers
Hi Roy, the top mount bolt spec is 28 ft-lbs for all the vertical bolts and 38 ft-lbs for the horizontal bolt. The lower mount nuts on the passenger side torque is 65 ft-lbs. The lower front engine mount nuts are 39 ft-lbs (you need to loosen those too). The water pump pulley bolts are 15 ft-lbs.
Hey Viktor, great channel! My 2013 RX350 (it has 80K miles on it) developed a speaking noise from the rear suspension when going over bumps or small holes, it's not clunking but rather high-frequency pitch squeak. Do you have any idea where it can come from? what is the most common cause ? The mechanic checked all bushings, no play whatsoever. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Two areas I would inspect is the rear shocks and the rear trailing arms. You could take the shocks out and test drive it like that. If the noise goes away, replace shocks, if not, replace trailing arms.
Viktor' I have 2012 Rx450h. There is a vibration between 20km to 40kmh. Can't seem to diagnose what the issue is...its quite frustrating. Can you suggest as per your experience. (Just changed all 6 spark plugs, still vibration is persistent)
I’ve seen one that needed a new hybrid transmission damper/flywheel assembly that was causing a vibration, but without being there to test drive, I wouldn’t just go straight to replacing that as it is a massive job. May not be a bad idea to pay the dealership for a couple of hours of diagnostic time to figure it out.
@@greyskulll1 the 450h does not have a driveshaft or u-joints. Could possibly be an axle, but I haven’t seen many issues with those on that model and diagnosing a vibration over the internet is pretty much impossible. That’s why I’m suggesting to have a professional look at it in-person.
@@Viktor_G_Automotive Finally I got it fixed. The problem is the defective rear shock absorber. I suspected it was a refurbished item. However, that's a different story. Thank you for all the help.

Yes, you possibly could do it with the car sitting on wheels, depends on how much load is on the stabilizer bar in that position.

Could be a shock or a trailing arm
Thanks Victor. It would be nice to show the old one to see wear out. My doesn’t look bad and I can’t catch the noise either from bushing or link?
See if you can feel any play in the links by pulling up and down on the end of the stabilizer bar with your hand.
