This has been a problem for many years; mobile browsers don't support viewing embedded PDFs. There are some hacky ways to get around this, but they don't work very well. The best workaround I think is to have a little message below the download button saying mobile browsers can't view embedded PDFs and they should click download.

I just used a canva html in Gutenburg for mobile. For pc I used the file method. I downloaded EditorsKit1.34.8 plugin to block the file from mobile devices.

how do you remove the toolbar and other functionality so it just displays like a jpg or webp with no user accessibility save the hyperlinks?

thanks for this; however, wondering why the toolbar at the top doesn't appear in Safari? It does for other browsers (e.g, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera). Safari has a disappearing and reappearing toolbar overtop. It is inconsistent. Also, if the pdf is in the media library, this method doesn't work.

Thanks for your tutorial - i noticed that once i've uploaded and published my PDF file, the URL of the published post remains within Wordpress Edit (as it does in your video). what is the step necessary to remove the post from Wordpress into the public domain of your/my site? in other words, it seems the security of my site is compromised by allowing viewers access to my Wordpress site.

My pdf is only one 1200x10,000px page, is there any way I can embed that completely in the frame like a jpeg image? (The pdf preserves links whereas the jpeg doesn’t.)

This is wonderful on desktop but it no longer works on mobile... Using Kadence Theme pro Kadence blocks Pro.. I have also tried pdf embedder and pdf embedder pro...the plugin developer blames caching Siteground says not.

@@ametalheadsjourney666 …no, my solution is to convert the pdf to a jpg use that for presentation on the website pages. Load the pdf into the media folder and use that for downloads. They see the jpg and download the pdf… problem solved
