- The LCD display and the touch screen are glued. It's difficult to separate them and requires experience and dexterity. There are a high risk to broke the LCD. But you can try before ordering the spare part. At worst case you will buy full display assembly. Replacing a display assembly is much easier.

- Hello, quick question, is everything glued or taped down, and if I did replace the digitizer, will it still be waterproof?
- To replace only the Glass you must have a special equipment and a very high experience.
- If you replace the Display Assembly (Touchscreen & LCD Display) you must buy a good quality adhesive stickers for the model (you can see them at the beginning) if you want your phone to be again water resistant.
- Most easily is if you order the complete spare part - Touchscreen + LCD Display + Frame. Then you must to transfer the Logic board, battery and some flex cables, small elements and the back cover.

its too hard to disasembly digitizer and lcd (thats why nothing on video) probably you broke lcd when you try. change complete lcd digitizer with glued lcd

You can find it in the eBay or other online shop. But I'm thinking you must go to mobile phone service. You can't be sure that the problem with the lights is into the LCD display. If the problem is wit the mother board, in one moment you will have 2x working displays and 1x not working phone.

The touch screen is connected to the LCD display flex cable.
Take a look at this two pictures to understand where is the touchscreen connector.

Man you are rough on those repairs! But the thing is why did you mess with the top portion of the phone you could've left all that intact and not risk any damage to the logic board?
apllDgrapllD I prefer to remove all parts from inside (especially motherboard) to safe them because I am heating the touchscreen and because when I removing the screen the front bezel is under pressure.
Really, I don't want to be rough with this good phone. :)

It's not easy to find an original display, and the price will be very high.
Also some sellers describe the spare parts like original that are not original.
When I buy a spare part from eBay I have this principle - seller with a minimum 99% feedback and more then 10K deals.
The spare parts are guaranteed original only in authorized repair centers.
I'm not sure if the video showed it but is there anyway of just replacing the digitizer with the same process?
***** The digitizer and the LCD display are glued together. Its very difficult to separate them. You must have special tools and a lot of experience. In this video you can see how to change complete spare part - touchscreen&Lcd display.

About the back cover - I pulled it carefully and kept the tape in good condition, then I used the same.
About the LCD - the part became without adhesive tape. I used 3M double side adhesive tape. But if you want to keep the waterproof, use adhesive tape like this:

There are 2x adhesive stickers, for the Display assembly and for the back cover.

Yes, you must follow the same way. But separating the Touch screen and the LCD display is very hard operation. You must have good experience and a special equipment or you will broke your LCD display.
Did you reapply a new adhesive kit?
In this video I used standard 3mm adhesive tape but it's more good to use adhesive sticker tape specifically for the model.

Only back light. Actually it was working when i connect the lcd first time ,i saw the sony logo and all pictures .but later i connect the digitizer connector to lcd and after that picture doesn't appeared any more just a back light. Sleep awake button works fine. Can you please tell me why did i get that problem and is there any way to fix it?

Check the connector between the LCD and mobo (2:27) for damaged pins, check the flex cable for damage, check the small connector at the begging of the flex cable between the flex and the digitizer (at 4:12, down side of the cable there are two connectors).
ZFix thak you once again sir.i checked all the connector and they looks fine.yesterday i tried once again and i found that lcd and digitizer works fine for few seconds but picture fades suddenly and only dim light stay on lcd.,to get the pictures on lcd i have to press sleep awake button again .and every time i press sleep button to unlock phone i can use it for 4,5 sec .and when i try to use camera or any thing else the pictures disappears suddenly.i would be really thank full to you if you can tell me why this problem is causing on my phone. and one more question..i found different names like LT36i, C6603,L36h,C6602, are they different phone on sony xperia z or they are same and lcd for them is similar?,i know my phone is sony xperia z but i do not know what exactly is a model number like L36i,C6603 etc .how can i find a exact model? hope you do not mind to reply me again.
This looks like a problem with the spare parts. Did you have this problem before?
About the models, C6603 is LTE variant with different frequency at 3G networks. L36H is Asian variant. I'm in Europe and we use LT36i variant. But according to the description of traders, the Touchscreen & Display are the same for all of them.

I put a new adhesive 3M, 3mm. It's better to use adhesive sticker, made for the model.
In that time I have not found one.
I open it and the one used in the factory is good enough to stick it back.. But the came lens is still blurry, do you have any idea how to remove it?
You mean back / battery cover and main camera?
Remove the cover again and then test the camera (just to be sure that the problem is on back cover). If the problem remains you have to replace the camera. The camera is encapsulated.
Of course you can try to clean the camera lens from the outside but is unlikely to help you.
Also do a factory reset (safe your data first) if the problem is from app.

Great video, but i have one problem. I replaced the screen successfully, in spite of that, the picrophone not work at all. So i thought that was my wrong that i broke the flex cable, so i replaced it but the microphone is still not working. Hopeless i began to look for the answer in many blogs, there were many people with the same problem but nobody knows what´s happening with the fu***ing microphone. Can you check the microphone hole through the frame. Maybe you put by mistake adhesive tape on the mic hole at the font side.

Hi, in many responses to viewers you have said that replacing the digitizer is very difficult and needs special tools, but isn't that what you are showing in this video, at approx. 5 mins 18 secs? Isn't that separation of the digitizer from the front of the phone?

No, this video is for replacing the LCD Display & Touch screen - complete spare part.
Hmmm ... but at 5 mins 18 secs I see you peeling off a clear front piece from the phone - and the LCD is still sitting in the main frame of the phone? Or is that front part just a glass plate and the digitizer is still stuck on the LCD?

I separate the LCD and the digitizer (together) from the frame.
The black thing on the frame (5:28) is a black pad under the LCD.

The black spots are display problem.
Also you can't change only the glass. The Digitizer and the display are glued> For a separating you need special tools and a lot of experience. Even for an expert, this task is not very easy.

Hi, my device's screen went black after having taken some underwater photos. It works properly (photos, internet, etc...) but the screen is black. I can "use" it, because when using a very intense light I can see th graphic interface. I read somewhere that it might be the LCD LED IC (intensity controller, I guess), and I also found for sale what it seems to be the replacement for it.. Any idea of how to change this part? Thx

I accidentally unplugged the LCD from the board while it's still on, and I re attached it now the screen is not working although I unplugged it earlier but the phone is off and I turn it on and it works just fine but then I the accident happens I tried turning it off again and removing the battery and returned the battery and turn it on but still the screen is not working I can just hear the audio which proves that the phone is on but not the screen, xperia z too BTW.

As I understand, your touchscreen go crazy from time to time. Try first factory reset (save your important data before do this).
I have an xperia z ultra and the screen cracked and messed up the digitizer but the screen has random spasms and goes crazy without me doing anything, will that still affect it in any way? And how much would it cost?

ZFix What do you mean fit them is tape needed or are you able to use existing / old tape?
For the small elements inside, like loudspeaker / antenna assembly you can use existing, but for the screen assembly and the back / battery cover you must use new.
Is good to by adhesive stickers just for the model.
Hopefully I can find some stickers for model but if not what is a good alternative?
You can use 3M adhesive tape 3 mm, but not the same lake adhesive sticker. It's easy to find stickers in eBay.

Yes, must be the same. C6606 is Xperia Z 4G LTE, T-Mobile. I checked the suppliers and they offer the same spare part for C6602, C6603 and C6606.

I prefer to remove the main-board to be sure. Until I separate the screen, I can twist the frame and this will damage the mobo.

This model is water proof - the LCD display and the touch screen are glued. You cave to change display assembly (LCD display and touchscreen together).

Ajmal Naim You can found touch screen for around 15 - 20 euro. But separating LCD display from the touch screen is very hard operation, and you need a special tools and very good experience to do this.

Check the coaxial antenna cable connector to the Main board (3:17 in red circle) and other side of the cable to the small antenna board (4:12). Check this small board for damage. There are two gold pins. They need to contact with the antenna, which is part of the loudspeaker module.

Do you change the coaxial cable too?
Check for damaged small elements near to the connector on the mother board.
You have a weak signal or no signal?
Go in Settings > More...> Mobile networks > Network mode and change it to "GSM only".
And do I really need to remove the digitizer?

The resolution and the brightest are the same. I tested the phone after, for ~30 minutes and everything seems OK.

Farhaaz EMz I guess I already tried another charger and adapter.
Try Factory rest or reflash it with Sony PC Companion. If the problem is with the Android OS, this will fix it (safe your data first).
Then you have to try another battery. It's not easy to find another battery for test, but you have to understand where is the problem - the battery or mainboard.

You can separate carefully the display assembly from the frame and save the LCD display, but you can't separate the glass from it.
To separate the glass from the LCD display you must have special equipment and good experience.

Do really have to remove all the top components camera lens etc. to replace screen? In the video it looks like the only things that need removing are the bottom black bar and battery.

Yes, you are right. You can do this without removing the logic board.
The board is removed easily so I prefer to pull it out to protect it from damage.
Another reason is that as I disassemble top of the phone, I can show to the viewers the location of other elements (as earpiece, camera, etc.).

I removed the touchscreen digitizer and I tried to turn it on without it but it only shows white. like all white at all no picture no nothing. why is that happening? does the digitizer shows the graphics?

Maybe the display is damaged during the separation procedure.
You have to find another display for test.
I don't think I damaged it, there were no cracks. is the LCD and touchscreen different?
The digitizer is a thin flexible film, glued to the front glass and the LCD display. You can see it by following the ribbon touch screen cable.

The micro USB connector is soldered to the mother board. Use a magnifying glass and inspect it (for broken or unsoldered pins, broken elements around the connector...).

For replacing only the touchscreen you need very good experience and special tools. You can't do this alone. Replacing the complete spare part - Touchscreen & LCD display is more easy but again you must have some experience. Don't do this if you haven't experience.

arlan lima This is very hard operation. You must to reheat the touch screen and the LCD display and separate them with tiny molybdenum wire. Without a special equipment this is very, very hard. There are videos with this procedure. You can found videos with the same procedure for iPhone 4/4S and Samsung Galaxy S2/S3... But there is a high risk to broke the LCD display. Don't try this without experience. And be ready to buy the complete spare part.

You can search for them on ebay or what ever alternative there is in India. Maybe try a computer part store to look for one. They go for cheap $30

There is Sony logo under the black spot on the screen protector, but yes, this is not original part. Nevertheless, this part is of height quality.

It's very hard to find really original part. Everyone supplier advertise his parts like original. I have some suppliers with which I work for years and I trust them. Surely, original spare part you can find in Sony authorized service, they will also give you a warranty for a new replacement part. Of course, this is for a higher price.
fuck dude ur right i just went to sony service customer they said for repair and replace the whole screen for 800 s.r saudi ryial thats mean around 300$ fuck aint pay for that its like new found but i find aother shops who reapir for 100$ which cheap price

You can do this without removing the logic board, but be careful while you separating the display, don't break something from the board..

Mike Sampaton I recommend you to disassemble it. During the operation there is risk to damage the board.
I Just paid mine twice £200 for the scren and now.. Scren doesnt work wth.. U could repair mine.. X

giannis tsako Μπορείς να το ψάχνεις και αγοράσεις από eBay (LCD or touchscreen C1505) . Η οθονη δεν είναι κολλούμενει για το touchscreen, υπάρχει μόνο adhesive tape και δεν είναι δύσκολο να το αλλάξεις. Αλλά πρέπει να δουλεύεις προσεκτικά
