KARACHI: May 22 marks the fourth anniversary of the PIA plane crash into a residential area just a kilometre away from the runway of Karachi Airport, killing 97 people and injuring two others.
A BBC report has recalled the details of the inquiry report, highlighting the flight pilots’, especially captain’s, reckless actions flouting the safety protocols and ignoring air traffic controller’s cautions. In February this year, an investigation into the air disaster by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) determined the crash occurred due to human error. However, relatives of many deceased passengers were not satisfied with these findings. On Friday, May 22, 2020, the ill-fated PIA flight PK 8303, with 91 passengers and eight crew members onboard, took off from Lahore Airport at 1:10pm for Karachi.
The Airbus A320 aircraft attempted to land at Karachi Airport at 2:37 pm, but due to a rough landing, the captain attempted a go-around. However, the plane could not complete the second landing attempt and crashed into the densely populated neighbourhood of Jinnah Garden.
The AAIB report, available on the Aviation Ministry’s website, stated the crash occurred because both engines of the plane shut down due to human error. The report also indicated multiple failures and miscommunications.

پائلٹ نشے میں تھا اسی لیے اس نے لینڈنگ گئیر کھولے بغیر جہاز رن وے پر اتارنے کی کوشش کی کیونکہ جب لینڈنگ گئیر پائلٹ کھولتا ہے اور وہ نہیں کُھلتے تو وہ بیلی لینڈنگ کی کوشش کرتا ہے اور پہلے ائیر ٹریفک کنٹرول کو مطّلع کرتا ہے تاکہ ائر پورٹ پر ایمرجنسی انتظامات کر لیے جائیں لیکن اس پائلٹ نے لینڈنگ گئیر کھولنے کی زحمت ہی نہیں کی کیونکہ یہ نشے میں تھا اور اس نے جہاز رن وے پر دے مارا جب اسے اپنی غلطی کا احساس ہوا تو اس نے جہاز دوبارہ اوپر اٹھا لیا اور پھر ویڈیو میں دیکھا جاسکتا ہے کہ جہاز کریش ہونے سے پہلے جہاز کے پہیے کُھلے ہوےؑ تھے یعنی لنڈنگ گئیر خراب نہیں تھا اگر پائلٹ سیکنڈ اٹیمپٹ میں جہاز صحیح سلامت ائرپورٹ پر اتار لیتا تو انویسٹیگیشن کے بعد یہ مجرم ثابت ہوتا اس کا نا صرف لائسینس کینسل ہوتا بلکہ اسے عمر قید کی سزا ہوتی سو لوگوں کی زنسگی۔خطرے میں ڈالنے پر اسی لیے اس نے ماڈل کالونی کی چوڑی سڑک پر کریش لینڈنگ کی کوشش کی تاکہ جہاز کو تھوڑا بہت نصان ہوجاےؑ اور لوگوں کی توجہ اس کی مجرمانہ غفلت سے ہٹ جاےؑ
PIA was an excellent airline. We always traveled with PIA..from NY to Lahore, non stop.

Airbus and Boeing conduct rigorous tests and training for pilots, including those from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), to ensure they meet the highest standards of aviation safety and competence. Passing these assessments is a testament to a pilot's skills and abilities, and it's foolish to believe someone has a fake license after passing the Boeing/Airbus tests. Those who claim PIA pilots have fake degrees are essentially questioning Airbus and Boeing's credibility. No one can fly with a fake license. Unfortunately, people often comment on flying without knowing the basics, pretending to be experts.

If roza have this much Impact on you then you must not take flight. And if you re going to take that responsibility then roza is not more important than a human life! Fasting has a substitute as qaza... which means you can do it later! Can a crash be reversed? Can a human life taken be revered?

This is true and as well for others foreign۔ Training education is diffrent and practical operations are beyond the orthdox instructios۔ Our country which entity or department is operational within the set limits۔ viz DISCOs۔ parliments etc۔

This was not an one off incident. It shows that in his 17000+ fight hours he never followed the procedures or maybe was never trained to do so. This seems to be a common culture in Pakistani pilots. This was obvious in the Air Blue crash at Margalla hills. Many if not most of Pakistani pilots probably do the same. Despite being a Pakistani, I would prefer not to fly while they are in charge.

Some criminal people of intelligence level have authority to hypnotize people. It is possible the pilot was hypnotized by such criminal and resulted in crash. Put those people in jail as well.

The stupid minister was the main cause of blaming the pilots. His brainless speech reulted in many of our good pilots being laid off from various airlines. If there was a genuine case shud have kept within the walls instead of singing "qawali" in the national assembly. 🤐

Pakistani pilots are always unprofessional you can expect any wrong doing, don't know what this gentleman is talking about, may be trying to save their colleagues. Our pilots were fined many time for different violations in UK & EU, few years back one was fined for over drunk condition during flight in UK, and the smuggling is very common for PIA staff, carrying huge quantity of cigarettes' and valuables to save custom duty, carrying passengers in cockpit without visa etc. we all know what meritocracy applied for their hiring and licensing, just repeating 1960's example when PIA assisted establishing Emirates, talk about today where Emirates is and where we are.
