Tyler H no offense but what were the supposed to do? Show pochohontas being raped in a Disney movie? Its not like that was the only misrepresented story. Anastasia was based on a real story but irl Anastasia and her family were all taken from their beds and night and executed via firing squad. Is that really something that should be been in a children's movie? Probably not.
The musicians in the background look so happy and proud too and Tiana shifting a bit to the right so she could she her dance better was so cute. They look like a proud family indeed XD
I thought that about her amazing energy radiation as soon as she stepped on the stage and then I read your comment wow. Her stage presence is a whole other level I'm speechless
many people might not know this, but the song she dances to is talking about the six ancient districts of her home island, of O'ahu. 'Ewa, the central south; Kona, the southern east; Ko'olaupoko, the mid-east; Ko'olauloa, the north eastern shores; Waialua, the north west; and Wai'anae, the entire western shore. the song is an awaking to these districts to the start of a new dawn, a new day. *Edit* : ok so Iʻve been informed that Auliʻi was originally from the island of Hawaiʻi but moved to Oʻahu. I didnʻt know that so Mahalo for pointing that out.

Kupa'a Kaleo oh wow such a beautiful mele!😢😍 rich in love for nature and sacred things of Hawaii I'm in love with hula and Hawaiian culture Mahalo nui loa 🌺🌴❤
@ Kupa'a Kaleo...Mahalo nui loa for sharing that information! i had the Blessing of living on O'ahu back in the '80's...danced (and felt) Hula (as best i could as a white girl) and it was an honor to be told by a native lady who made my Haku lei that she felt i had a Hawai'ian heart. My heart and spirit never left and i am working towards moving to Mau'i as it is that Island where i have felt strongly drawn to bring healing in some way. My son is currently on O'ahu on his Honeymoon...he was just over 3 yrs. old when we left but still remembers some things about living there. Ho'onanea! *:D
May I just say, as a former hula dancer, that Auli’i is one of the most amazing dancers I’ve seen. Her smile is gorgeous and her movements are fluid. She truly looks like she’s having fun dancing and looks beautiful doing it. Anyone who says otherwise have no idea what they’re talking about 😂
IMO....When you live, breathe & Believe in what you're doing...presentation/representation becomes easier/2d nature. Even at 58, am Still learning All Day/Everyday. The day we stop learning is the day we die...Maika'i, Auli'i.....Maika'i No!
she used to live in the same city as me and ive seen her a couple of times years ago, she even went to my school but then left because she got accepted into kamehameha. im so happy for you, auli’i, thank you for representing the many people and the beautiful island of hawaii :)
Being a polynesian dancer my whole life, im so greatful they came out with such a beautiful movie inspiring kids to appreciate such a remarkable culture!
If there are any rude or inappropriate comments posted here about Auli'i---anything about her looks, her dancing, ANYTHING---the film, or the Polynesian culture and their traditions, they will immediately be removed. I DO NOT WANT, and I DO NOT NEED any negativity on this video from people who like to cause trouble. If you are one of these people, and YOU KNOW who you are, let's be real here (you get some sort of ridiculous enjoyment out of being cruel), please educate yourselves, and direct that energy toward something positive and useful.
This has made me love her even more now. She is such an amazing, talented and beautiful young lady. I hope that Disney does more with her in the future!! This was incredible
Is there anything she can't do? In my eyes she is so close to perfection and I love how you can feel her loving radiation and gratitude in every single video you watch... I would love to give her a hug one day #girlpower
I love how during every single interview and every single bit of footage you see of her shows she is a part of that culture and it's so beautiful. I love it. She's so much like Moana.
I think my favorite part about this is the beautiful smile that seems stuck on her face 😍 she is such a beautiful and remarkable young woman. I hope she goes on to do many great things ❤
Andy Lux she seems to be one those people with poise and presence far beyond her years. I only hope she can keep that innocence and kindness that she seems to exude. A very talented girl!
She is really pretty, has a beautiful voice, knows how to perform a song perfectly, has a an amazing personality... and now dances too?! She is on point!
Love the reactions of all the musicians. They are smiling so big so proud of her! Don't even get me started on the rock man his smile was so big. She was amazing in this dance she's so amazing!
I remember was Disney first revealed her and she was the beautiful sun kissed dark girl with a bright smile and almost awkward stance. And now she's still just as beautiful and quirky
She's such a special and beautiful girl. What a lovely hula. You can really tell when someone's whole heart is in what they are doing, and that's certainly the case with her.
This is seriously the prettiest hula I've seen. After watching this for the first time, I looked up a bunch of hula videos, but this one takes the cake. She and her family should so proud of that choreography and performance.
Shes soo beautifull..🥺💖💖 i hope her career will be more brightful in the future, i love the movie n the soundtrack so much, shes just perfect for it, no one can replace her ✨
Beautiful dance! She's so gorgeous! She looks so grown up too! Lovely seeing her being so proud of her culture! And seeing Dwayne and Lin smiling at her performance was so cute and sweet! I can tell they really became close during the making of 'Moana'!
This was so beautiful and so great that she did this ❤️ I honestly hope she doesn't let fame get to her, I hope she stays humble and always remember who she is and where she came from.
She's so darn graceful! Love how she acknowledged both cameras and the lady in the back playing the instrument was looking at her with pride. I would've too although I'm not Polynesian 😥
Ikr I mean.. are they expecting him to aikuli or something since he's Samoan? Lol that would have been nice tho. Im Samoan and I don't know Aulii's nationality but I don't know if in her culture, they might do similar to samoans? Idk🤔
This is why I love any kind of island culture; whether Fijian, Polynesian, Samoan, Hawaiian it doesn't matter. I have mad respect for it all! It's awesome!
This dance was amazing you can see Lin and Dwayne wanting to join in and dance so bad. Lol Lin’s face a hop in the beginning of the 2nd vid is adorable. Auli’i owned this dance she danced it with beauty and grace
I just got tears in my eyes. Might be 'cause of the glass of wine I had, but mostly, coz wow. That is a beautiful and talented young girl who is performing a wonderful and amazing cultural dance.
Incredible so good! The soundtrack to this film is amazing so much LIFE..it really comes through with good earphones Buy the soundtrack... I live on Oahu and used ot live in Kohala where she grew uo
Im so proud of her and im so happy that they actually casted someone from oahu to be moana...n they got the right person to play moana. She gives me inspiration to go after my dreams.
This is one of the things the internet does so well bringing content, precious moments, we might have otherwise missed. Thanks so much for posting and sharing this video with us. Best Wishes
oh my god i love seeing and hearing this music i miss the place to where i was been raised by my grand parents in hawaii and as a 1/4 polynesian i do miss this . this music is so great 😘😘😘
To be 16 and have this much radiance is a true gift.
Jay Lewis omg!!! Is she 16!! So bright and taleted!!! I feel happy just by see her dancing!
Buddy, she's 17 now
well alot of people dance hula even at a young age as well
Ikr!
I love it when Disney casts an actor/actress that has a similar culture to the character. Because then we get beautiful moments like this!
Jessica exactly.
All of the cast has a Polynesian/South Pacific background. The bonus features on the DVD is amazing!
Jessica+ Moana and Auili' are both Poly #PolyLove
Lovely girl, lovely music.
Tyler H no offense but what were the supposed to do? Show pochohontas being raped in a Disney movie? Its not like that was the only misrepresented story. She can sing, dance, do voice acting, acting and also be pretty at the same time. FML!!!
Lynly Motoramo and she's also just 16. That's what blows my mind.
Lynly Motoramo I’ve got two things to say.
@Osman Yousif YYYEEESSSSS!!!!
same
Lin Manuel is the proud papa and the Rock is the proud mama in this video. Love it.
haha!
The musicians in the background look so happy and proud too and Tiana shifting a bit to the right so she could she her dance better was so cute. They look like a proud family indeed XD

Beautifulllll😊
exactly this saying is encouraged throughout polynesia
Just amazing, please the name of the song, greetings from Peru.
i personally don't understand why this isn't more popular. this means more to me than her Oscar's performance did
She performed at the oscars?
candiigurl7893 she sang the song from moana. she was amazing.
candiigurl7893 Yeah. But I was hoping she'd wear a silver or gold dress with a fringe skirt which kind of looks like a hula skirt and bare feet.
Wow, so graceful and what an amazing energy radiates from her. Her arms are so fluid
Lilka20061990 Her footwork reminds me of the basics of the Dance of David at my Synagogue. Her movements are almost identical to to our dances.
A lot of things are similar, doesn't mean it is the same...
hula is an ancient and modern hawaiian dance.
they never said they were the same. they said it reminded them of it.
I thought that about her amazing energy radiation as soon as she stepped on the stage and then I read your comment wow. Her stage presence is a whole other level I'm speechless

Being a polynesian dancer my whole life, im so greatful they came out with such a beautiful movie inspiring kids to appreciate such a remarkable culture!
Disney hit the jackpot with this one.
She is so beautiful! Whether if this was her only movie or if she will go on to other films, I hope she never loses her identity!
well 15 years from now when they do the live action maybe she will be in that!
I am so so so so happy that little Hawaiian girls get to grow up seeing her as a princess. I mean look at her! She's glowing up there!
Not a little girl but I'm happy having 2 pacific islander characters on the big screen

I'm proud of her showing her culture and her true colours 😘😘 keep going👌
Even not knowing much about hula or the Hawaiian language, I feel like this hula just so accurately captures both Moana and Auli'i's spirits.
Auli'i Cravalho is a Hawaiian actress which is one of the reasons I thought the movie, Moana took place in Hawaii.
my desire to protect this girl grows each day.
Wonderful smile!!
I can't believe she's only 16
Andy Lux she seems to be one those people with poise and presence far beyond her years. I only hope she can keep that innocence and kindness that she seems to exude. A very talented girl!

she's so adorable and beautiful! I love how she's not stick skinny too!
Polynesian dance is so expressive, so imitative...that's why i like it so much!
Auli'i will be remembered like Julie Andrews for his huge effort to promote his stunning role of this beloved movie.
She's such a special and beautiful girl. What a lovely hula. You can really tell when someone's whole heart is in what they are doing, and that's certainly the case with her.

This was so beautiful.
Auli’i’s performance was amazing but I truly couldn’t ignore Lin’s smile
For anyone wondering, the song she is dancing to is Mele Ho'ala Moku by a very famous musician here in Hawai'i, Keali'i Reichel.
She has so much grace, poise and elegance!
This is one of the things the internet does so well bringing content, precious moments, we might have otherwise missed. Thanks so much for posting and sharing this video with us. Best Wishes
