Milt khal Floyd Norman Glen keane and Eric Goldberg are all my favorites and I love their animation
Whenever I get upset with the world killing hand drawn animation, I remember that Eric Goldberg is still employed.
Exactly, it’s such a shame that the magical hand drawn animations aren’t being made in theaters anymore. The Genie is actually one of my comfort characters because of how big and soft and magical he is. Eric can truly capture that magic I felt as a kid unlike a lot of other characters that I’ve seen in 3D animations.

I was also surprised that Ridley Scott still storyboards his own films and recently did Napoleon.

Eric Goldberg is literally one of Disney's best animators! He even does animation work outside of Disney like Looney Tunes Back in Action and the animated beginning of the live-action Fat Albert movie.
Watching Eric work inspires me so much. It's such a joy and treat to watch him draw. It makes me so happy

ERIC GOLDBERG! I’m 13 and want to be a Disney animator when I grow up, him and Walt Disney are my idols! One day I hope to meet him! All I watch, except for TH-cam, are Disney Documentaries and I love the Mickey animation he did with Mark Henn and the other animator that I can not seem to ever remember! The Classic Mickey shorts are the literal BEST!

I wish Disney would make more traditional Mickey cartoons, using the same design as the one drawn here. I hate the educational CGI Mickey, or the crude looking one from the modern day TV shorts. I would love to see more Mickey shorts that look similar to The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Mickey and the Beanstalk, Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Prince and the Pauper, and Run Away Brain.

I think its incredible how fast they can sketch out these drawing, it takes me forever to draw one caracter, I dont see how they do it so fast without messing up

This was an absolute pleasure to watch. Thank you so much for your continued dedication to Disney and for helping bring to life so many of my favourite characters in not only animation history, but film history. Although I very much miss the days of 2D hand drawn animation with the Disney classics, it was great gaining insight into the creative process that goes on behind the scenes, even with some of the more recent CGI animated movies. eric goldberg seems like he would be so nice and cuddly
I would really like to see a Disney Live video of How to Draw Stitch with director and animator Chris Sanders, who of course did the voice for Stitch and co-directed Lilo and Stitch alongside Dean Deblois. But as we all know, Sanders left Disney for Dreamworks. I still wish he could come back to Disney again to do a live video tutorial on how to draw the character he is best known for and also answer questions from the viewers.
The best part is that he did it absolutely perfect within like a minute or something 😂
And I think my most favourite characters made by him are probably the genie and Louis the alligator

Watching this mesmerized by how fast he can do these start to finish .... then I wonder what they did with the sketches after... I know if given the chance Id buy them. To have an original quick sketch done by him, or any other Disney animator would be amazing.

Eric Goldberg is my hero and he inspired me to create a future character named “Speedy C Rabbit” My inspiration was combining cartoon and a video game character Sonic, Garfield and tiger from an American tale and that’s how I got my character

Hi Eric my dream is to work with Disney not just a cast member, I mean work where the magic happens, where Disney movies can happen, Where Disneyland can happen. I'm not sure if I'm making my point but my dream is to work with Star Wars/Disney.

here is a tip about sketch books always buy a pack of acid free copy or laser paper its cheaper than a sketch book and you get more paper carry the paper in a folder on the go

Kirby Lover practice drawing :) don't ever stop drawing and make sure you are really interested in being an animator, inspiration helps a lot ^^
try posting cartoons you make on youtube or if you don't have time to do animation it takes 9 months to make 1 22 minute cartoon make comics and post them on the internet and share them with friends and family
Kirby Lover start with pivot im 10 and i made pretty good at animations with it but now i use adobe flash cs6
Draw for fun, don't try to copy other drawings just do it for fun don't worry about technics and all thoses boring things. Just draw and have fun don't worry about people's opinion do what your imagination says!

a bit late to comment but I really love drawing I draw every minute of every day. my school books have more drawings than writing I just love Disney so much ever since I was a kid i've been drawing Disney princesses on everything, guess what i'm trying to say is i'm a huge fan of eric I inspire to be a talented artist like him some day. thanks

Right now i am still in school so i dont really have a lot of time to do what i love to do which is drawing, but next year i am going to an art school and then to a animation and game school. I was hoping if someone's got any good tips or advice for me to make it through the animation school or the art school because i heard that they are both very difficult schools.

The actual reason why I clicked this:
1. What tools does he use? In this case, it's a fineliner: Faber-Castell Pitt Pen, M size. No pencils here.
2. How does he hold the pen? It's a thumb-in-forefinger tripod grasp, which is a good way to avoid tightness. Thickening up the pen with rubber, foam or tape helps train this up, if you didn't learn it when learning to write.
Notice how he flips up the pen at the end of the line to look? If you're practiced at blind contour drawing, you'll start to make this gesture because you'll make the mark by looking at the starting point, then feeling through the motion you're making, and then looking again. You don't need to look during the line - that just makes it less confident. I can do some of it, but I'm still a long way off from a Goldbergian level of draftsmanship.

Hello, Eric Goldberg, I am a big fan of your work, and I have your book, Character Animation Crash Course, which was the first animation book I ever owned, and it was able to get me a jump start in the first thing an animator works on, a walk cycle. I made a few of them. I've did most of them in ones for fluid animation, and I've been experimenting with various tricks such as animation smear, which I recently discovered was based on live action. I'm researching a lot of things in animation so that I can be an animator/cartoon creator in the future. I wish I could meet you in person to thank you for writing such an amazing book and creating such vivid animations.
