I am from Nepal and I have completed my MBBS in the year 2018 along with 1 year internship here. I was working as a medical officer for nearly 18 months then I left my job 5 months back to prepare for PG here. But now I want to do PLAB. I heard we should not leave job while doing preparation for PLAB which can bring some consequences for job placement in UK, now I want to know should I be preparing for PLAB or not? Will they accept me for not working for 5-6 months here? Or Do I still have some hope? Please kindly give me some advice. Thank you!
It doesn’t matter . Go ahead with your plan exams. You’ll only have to explain your job gap during uK job application

I am with my family. Ans they told 20 hours/week i can do work too . Is that a good platform to prepare for plabs??? Can you please say me??

For masters student in UK who had practice as a doctor in his home country, someone who's from a ace he's had all his tuition from an English speaking country like Ghana, is he suppose to write IELTS in UK before registering for PLAB?

My masters is M.Sc in Reproductive Medicine, Science and Ethics. Yes, you will have time to prepare for plab alongside masters. I have done videos on this as well. Cheers

I am doing PhD right now in the UK but the GMC told me they can’t accept it as English language proficiency proof

Did you get registration after masters?
Because is suppose as per rules of some studied a course in English language in English country he will be able to exempt fro. Ielts or oet

Check this link please. It shows that if English language is more than 2 year old and we show 3 months of full time study in a course in English language. Then his would be enough as a English language proof.

It depends on your graduating university. Most times you’ll have to take the plab exams

If you do not have a UK GMC license, you might not be able to practice as a doctor. But if you have a legal entry into the UK, you can do other non clinical jobs prior to getting a UK GMC license. Best wishes

Yes and No Yes if you have not sat for ielts/oet ever before and the plab application must be after your masters program as you need your masters result as evidence of English. No, if you've ever attempted ielts/oet before, you must have to pass it.
Hi dr . It’s means if I attend OET and failed before masters . Is that any chance to show the evidence of language proficiency with my masters after successful completion. Or I should sit for OET once more?

bruh do you know if doing a masters in internal medicine outside the uk , would be recognised by gmc in uk?
GMC has no business with masters as you don't need masters to work as a doctor in UK

So while you were doing your masters, did you have to do OET or IELTS as well? because in my case, the university asked me for an IELTS of 7 overall which is what I have.

Thank you very much for your valuable information. I have been living in the UK for the last six years, and have recently received my residence permit. Up till now, I haven’t been registered with the GMC. Due to having a gap for six years of not practicing, will the GMC allow me to sit the PLAB exam or maybe there’s alternative way to get working licence?

You can sit the plab exams since you're a doctor. You will have to show evidence of your other non medical activities within the 6 years gap. You will probably need a refresher course prior to commencing a clinical role. You don't have any disadvantage at all.
I'm going to start a master program in january 2021 but I also want to get the GMC registration, so in this case you mean that is better to wait until I finish my master program so that I will be exempted to do IELTS or OET? and therefore I can use next year to study for plab tests? Isn't it possible to do the plabs while doing the master program?

Yes but once you’ve done ielts you have to pass it but a uK masters is a good replacement

To do clinical residency training in the UK, you must pass PLAB exams or MRCP/MRCS. But if you just want to do post graduate masters degree program, you don’t need Plab. You only need to apply to the university of your choice for admission

@Supriya Rana Masters in Public Health will be a good advantage however you don’t necessarily need M.Sc to work as a doctor in the UK. What you need is GMC registration either by passing Plab exams or MRCS/MRCP

Sorry about your result. Most of us did not pass IELTS at first sitting. SO you'll be fine. Some UK masters programs don't require IELTS. Better find out entry requirements from your university of choice. Best wishes
