Apologies for the martini glasses with the wine! We seemed to have misplaced the wine glasses but then as always, the show must go on! We then however made sure to get wine glasses for the other pairs! 😅
Hi from France, nobody here would drink gin or whisky made in France. While the France label may be sold overseas for quite a price on French products, I strongly avise you to go local (so to go for England producteur on these last 2). Bonjour chez vous !
Totally agree. They tasted cognac so why not armagnac, calvados, marc ? A bit disappointing to see "clones" i.e. whysky and gin, as French have local things. Ou une vieille prune artisanale de derrière les fagots ...

Proper way to sip cognac. Sip a little, let it remain in mouth until you feel your saliva returning, it will remove the bite, then finish. Smooths it out remarkably well. Advice from my French uncle. V.S.O.P is distilled champagne.
Uh oh. I hate to tell her but what we consider Celtic knotwork art came from the La Tène Celts in France. So that little design on the bottle is more their's than the Gaels. Ok, maybe I didn't hate saying that.
Well France does have Brittany and Breton is a Celtic language. The movie "Black Hawk Down" made the Breton song "Gortoz A Ran" popular. (Edit: In reference to the comment about the Celtic symbol on the whisky bottle).

At the mid-point when it breaks for an advert, no joke, it was for alcohol dependance treatment programs. 😲😲 Nice work to all the Tryers. I love seeing you appreciate a good whiskey. Lolsy FTW!
Laura and Grainne seemed to enjoy every drink, and I love that. Laura used to be so against trying a good whiskey, but the Try Channel has covered her! When Seamus was doing his tribute to Darren I cracked up, and Lolsy actually drank gin and whiskey without making her usual strong drink face. Well done Lolsy!

Great video. And it's good to see Lolsy again. This tells me that she's still in the Try family. Haven't seen John Sharpson, George, Martin, or Justine Stafford for a bit. Please tell me that they are still part of the flock. Thanks.
I'm french, and i didn't know we produce gin and whisky. I'm quite a bit disappointed there was not some eau de vie from a random french grand dad garage production.
If your face turns red after a couple glasses of wine, you're not alone. Many people experience facial flushing when they drink alcohol. The technical term for this condition is “alcohol flush reaction.” Most of the time, the flushing happens because you have trouble digesting alcohol completely. As a result, acetaldehyde builds up in the body after alcohol consumption, which causes the characteristic red flushing of the face. Acetaldehyde is the first product generated during the metabolism of alcohol (chemically known as ethanol). It is generated primarily in the liver by the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH).
That’s not what he’s referring to. He’s talking about his face turning red specifically after drinking red wine. He may be slightly allergic to tannins or sulfites.
Try some ratafia before cognac ! As a French I'd rather advice you to give rhum, rhum "arrangé" a try instead of gin just to taste french specialties ;)
As a French, I'm glad you gave them really good stuff to try, and they loved it. kinda expensive on some, especially the red wine, being a quality Bordeaux, that cost almost 100€ a bottle, the brandy, gin and Normandy whiskeey (because Le breuil is from Normandy), are in the 50/60€ range. Would be fun to go on the french "very liquorous" drinks, such as yellow Chartreuse (the green on is very strong), Genepi from the Alps (especially comming from Grand Rubren distilery, the 40°c one), or Myrthe from the Corsica island. There's still so many stuff you can give them to try ^^
