First Family Foundation Walk

Four days after our main house concrete pour we did our first full family foundation walk. We started to excavate our foundation in January 2023 with our D6-9U Caterpillar bulldozer, then compacted the foundation with our Bomag 11-ton, 84” wide padfoot (also called a sheepsfoot) compactor rental, dug the footings with our Mustang 550z 5.5-ton Excavator rental, finished all of the concrete form rebar, and finally got concrete poured nearly 8 months later.
The footprint of the house is 3000 sqft, not including the ~650 sqft of portico and two patios to be poured next. Total, our main house will be 4,500 sqft with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
It has been a long journey building up our dream property, but one that we’re very happy to be able to do with our two children.
